“Quite expensive, but in the middle of the glades”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2014

You can find Iveys house in the middle of the Everglades. And yes, that is a plus. For this plus you have to pay some more Dollars for a night. Sleep comfort of the beds is good, rooms are clean and staff is friendly, but somehow paying 100 Dollars for a room with a few beds in there and common showers feel a bit expensive. Then again, you are in the middle of the Glades. On a very positive note, this was one hotel that offered a good breakfast with the stay. You will enjoy that. Excursions can be booked from the hotel, but again the price in such a touristic spot is quite high. Knowledge of the area and options are extensive.
As an alternative it is possible to hop down to a camp site to really have the Everglades feeling. If you want to have more comfort and a breakfast in the morning that is already prepared for you, this hotel might be your spot.

This is a wonderful place to 'chill out', of which we did, wholeheartedly! Great room, great and friendly service. Anything you want or need, they are there to help out. It was a great find and we enjoyed our 4 days there with side trips around the area.

We stayed here with our 2,5 year old son. At 9 pm when we came back from the dinner and ran straight to the room, we met the owner. He said: "Although you pay for accommodation, you should respect other people sleep". The only thing that my kid did, was that he was running to the room. No shouting, not even talking. At 9 pm! Were you complaining in advance? Don't say that you kids friendly if you think that they are walking troubles. We travel a lot with the kid and know our responsibility to take care of him. There's no point to remind that and speak rudely.

Everglades city a tiny town, but a perfect place to explore Everglades park. There are at least 3 more options to stay here. For more than USD 100 you certainly can get better service, separate rooms with shower and nice breakfast.

P.S. The pool is not heated and is way too cold to swim...

Please accept our most sincere apologies. It is absolutely never acceptable that any of our team members would show anything less than the most superb hospitality. We have done some investigating, and while the person you encountered was not the owner, we have already had a counseling session with this person to ensure this never happens again. We remain 100% child-friendly, and look forward to showing children the beauty of the Everglades.
Thank you for sharing your experience - we absolutely appreciate the opportunity to make this right and ensure that our visiting families never encounter anything less than a warm welcoming. And again, please accept our most sincere apologies.

Our Best.

Stayed in the Ivey House and the rooms were very clean, nicely furnished, and the morning breakfast included both hot and cold items. Great place to stay in Everglade City with lots of fresh seafood restaurants nearby.

The Ivey House is a nice hotel/ B&B in Everglades City! Clean and comfortable with a decent b-fast! Nice pool and lots of kayaks to be had! It has a great location in the middle of all you need for an Everglades trip. We were on a family reunion so had a room in the hotel as well as a two bedroom cottage. While not elegant, it is well maintained with a great staff! The property is cared for and we had a nice time at the pool! Recommended!

Room Tip: For a large family, ask for the cottage!

We were able to rent a little three-bedroom two-bathroom house that slept 8 people very comfortably. Very clean, nice furniture, reasonable price! You have to see the decorations in the bathroom -- very artistic! Seriously!

We stayed at the Ivey House Lodge while exploring the Everglades National Park. It was a great experience, especially reserving the morning kayak adventure with John. It is centrally located in Everglades City. The breakfast was plentiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are down the hall, but very private. Everyone is congenial. The beds were comfortable. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to explore this area.

Room Tip: All the rooms in the single story Lodge are the same as far as a good location.
