If you like an historic building converted into a B&B, this is the place for you. Large spacious rooms and nice bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Owners were very friendly. Everglades City is old Florida, and this is the perfect place to stay.

We stayed after the New year holidays and were intrigued by the fact that it had been a bank and was relatively newly opened. We had the ground floor family room for 5 of us. The bath might look good but getting in and out was tricky and it was a battle to stop water from the shower going on the floor. Our greeting from the housekeeper was great but she did have to dash off. For the price we paid i had expected a proper breakfast served in a breakfast room. Instead we got an odd selection of breakfast goods in the fridge and to make up for ourselves - a bit travelodge and not what you expect from a hotel at these prices. The air con was noisy and with no one on site we were glad that there were no problems. The owners may have spent a lot on the place but they need to understand that less is more. the place felt very cluttered and full of dust traps. service is the key and the room based, get on with it yourself approach to breakfast wasnt really acceptable. On the plus side, the rooms were very large. We liked having a bedroom for the 5 of us and separate lounge area. Wouldnt really go back though as to us service and the personal touch is more important than history and fancy free standing baths

Room Tip: only come here once the breakfast room has been sorted out and haggle on the price

This was our first time traveling to Everglades City and we absolutely enjoyed our stay. B+B staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating to my family. Breakfast was great (French toast is amazing) and plentiful. For anyone looking for a really unique old Florida experience, this is the place to visit in Everglades City.

Room Tip: We enjoyed top floor rooms.

My husband and myself along with another couple wanted to get away from our hectic life's and kids for a couples get away. We live on the busy east coast so we didn't want to go to far so we decided to go to the Everglades. There are not many places to stay in Everglades city so at first we were a little apprehensive. We got two rooms at the Everglades city historic bed and breakfast. It was such a charming place! Before it was a bed and breakfast it was an old bank building. The owner and her daughter transformed the building to a beautiful Victorian style inn. They incorporated the concept of the bank and had the names of the rooms like a bank for example we stayed in the "credit department" and our friends stayed in the "mortgage department" the rooms were so well decorated and put together it made the experience. Plus it was very clean and the beds were comfortable. All the rooms were decorated so differently so you didn't feel like you were staying at a typical hotel. There was a young lady who gave us a tour of all the rooms because we loved ours so much we wanted to see them all!!! They even had a little gift shop with small gifts that you could buy as souvenirs for family and friends. It is across the street from the rod and fun club whom is also family owned by the same women who upended the bed and breakfast. It was such a beautiful place and the service was great. Next year we are going to try and rent out all the rooms and bring more couples, hopefully making it a tradition. I would recommend this to anyone who loves history and wants a cozy place to stay

Stayed here last night. The charm ends with the fact that its an old bank. Needs updating and way overpriced. There is a bathroom ensuite so that was a plus. No hot breakfast. Everything is in your in room fridge for the next morning. There is a microwave d.own the hall to heat things up. Stay at the rod and gun club is nice and has individual cottages.

My husband and I are seniors that appreciate any thing that involves history. To be able to see that vault that held "more money than any other bank in the state when Hurricane Donna hit on Sept. 10th, 1960," was one of the highlights of our trip through South Florida. Sleeping right upstairs from that safe was thrilling. I could visualize the bankers hanging money on rope clotheslines to dry during the aftermath of that devastating weather event.

Patricia, the lady with the vision, transformed the dilapidated building into a beautiful six room bed and breakfast. As you walk up the stairs to your room, you can imagine the water lapping at your heels during that storm. I wondered what a paranormal evaluation of the building would turn up? We slept safe and sound and enjoyed a room with our own bath in it. Many bed and breakfasts do not offer en suite baths, so it's always nice when we find one that does.

We were surprised that such a historical site would have air conditioning units, refrigerators, televisions, and internet access. We appreciated that we could get up whenever we wanted and make ourselves a light breakfast. Everglades City is a small community surrounded by waters, bays, mangroves, and beautiful wildlife. You must bring a camera and take a kayak trip if you're a youngster, or take the Park Boat Tour to experience everything this area has to offer.
