My husband surprised me with the visit to Amelia and couldn't have done a better job at choosing the Addison. It was perfectly located w/i walking distance ( 2-3 blocks) to the waterfront (avoid Brett''s Waterfront Cafe) fabulous restaurants, shops & entertainment.

I'm not a huge fan of B&B's if I can't open a door & be on my own veranda or otherwise breath fresh air. It appeared most rooms did have a balcony with chairs. They have an 'addition' in keeping w/ the historical structure that fits seamlessly into the lot. It's almost like having your own suite. Large rooms & bathrooms with wonderful linens. If I were to be picky it would be that the bathroom had a pedestal sink w/ no counter room for cosmetics. But a huge tub with Lavender Bath Salts made up for it!

The Hosts are pros & genuinely appear to enjoy their role.

My husband and I returned to the Addison for a weekend and feel welcome and pampered. My favorite thing is the extra large jetted tub with lavender Epsom salts. My husband loves The happy hour Bob holds each night with wine, beer, socializing and snacks. We both love the gourmet breakfasts. We are eager to come again, enjoy the complementary bike loans, ask Bob for restaurant recommendations, and be pampered for the weekend.

It was our first visit to Amelia Island and hopefully it won't be our last! I am SO happy our first experience staying was at the Addison Inn! We loved everything about it! The place itself is beautiful and pristine. The room very comfortable, beautifully furnished and very clean! The owners, Rob and Shannon are the friendliest people, and make you feel at home! The breakfasts are delicious and so well made, they spoil you! LOVE the happy hour from 5-6pm, which gives you the opportunity to meet fellow guests and the owners better. The location to the historic main st. area is in walking distance from the Addison. It was so nice to park the car and walk to the center of town, where all the fun shops and restaurants are. All in all, a GREAT Inn that I hope to go back to someday soon!

The Addison Bed & Breakfast Inn is as good as it gets. Charming and comfortable, a great get away in historic Fernandina. Bob, Shannon and Lee make you feel right at home. The breakfasts are wonderful an excellent start to a great day of exploring. The happy hour is always fun as you meet people from a variety of places and share the days events and plans for the evening. We always look forward to our stays at the Addison.

This was our first visit to Amelia Island. We chose The Addison based on all reviews on Tripadvisor (even the "bad ones"). When we entered I loved the old charm feel. We were met by Lee. She was very cheerful and helpful. Check in took 2 mins. She showed us around giving us the "nickel" tour. She asked about and food restrictions. We went to our room and were impressed.Very clean and comfortable. We were able to attend the first of 3 Happy Hours. Bob and crew do a great job. I truly loved Bob's sense of humor. Everyday breakfast was 5Star and filling. Anything you needed, all you had to do was ask, Bob,Shannon or Lee. We will be going back in October to the Island and WILL definitely stay again. It was perfect.

Green Features: Very good. They use 100% reusable cotton towels etc. Recyclable can provided for each room. Great job

Stayed for our first wedding anniversary during Memorial Day weekend and it was perfect. The property is beautiful and in a convenient location close to historic downtown but offset enough from it for a quiet weekend lounging at the B&B too. Breakfast was great and the social happy hour in the evenings is a great way to meet new people and get to know the owners before heading out to town or the beach. Definitely recommend the Addison for couples looking for something different and to unwind away from the busy life and will be coming back soon.

We have traveled to Amelia Island many times. It has great beaches, friendly people and good restaurants. During our past visits we had dogs and needed a pet friendly place to stay. For that reason, the Residence Inn was our choice. We no longer have pets and thought we should try something different. Please note, the Residence Inn was not even considered an option. It was good enough for dogs, but that is about all.

For this stay, we toyed with both the Ritz Carlton and The Addison. They are at opposite ends of the island and offer very different amenities. The Ritz is a typical high end resort with pool, spa, golf, beach etc. The Addison is in historic Fernandina Beach within walking distance to shops and top-notch restaurants. We decided upon The Addison as we tend to enjoy the north end of the island over the resort end. There is much more to do on the north end.

How can I possibly compare a B&B to a Ritz Carlton? Once you stay at The Addison, you will understand how.

The breakfast was better than any breakfast I’ve had at any hotel, ever! Yes ~ better than a Ritz Carlton. Others have raved about the breakfast served at The Addison on TripAdvisor. We had very high expectations. Our expectations were greatly exceeded.

Our room, number 3, was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed morning tea on our private balcony overlooking Ash St. Dollar for dollar, we both thought our room was a better value than anything else the island has to offer.
Each evening the owners, Bob and Shannon, host a complimentary happy hour. Guest can enjoy the lush gardens while sipping an adult beverage on the veranda. Light hors d'oeuvres are served while guest talk about their days and new friends are made. If you are very lucky, you might meet Maggie.

Bob and Shannon will go out of their way to make sure you are happy and comfortable. Be sure to check out some of the special packages. Going to the beach? Let them know and they will set you up. Concierge Services are offered. Check out the web site for details.

Within easy walking distance of the inn are some of our favorite restaurants. They include Espana, LuLu’s and Le Clos. All rated in the top 10 on TA. Make reservations in advance.

In my opinion, if you are traveling to Amelia Island, there is nowhere else to stay. The Addison is it. If they are sold out, rearrange your plans so you can stay at The Addison. While there, be sure to ask Bob for his meat loaf recipe.

Room Tip: Some rooms offer balconies. They are a little more expensive but if you enjoy coffee or tea in the m...
