My fiancé and I, who have never stayed at a B&B before this one, booked a getaway for our elopement and honeymoon. We had the absolute BEST TIME! We expected it to be a unique experience and judging by the pictures it looked awesome. It FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. We booked their special Elopement package and added on the additional Honeymoon package. The night of our elopement we had perfect weather, their "secret location" was just beautiful. Theresa did a marvelous job with our photographs and made it a very special occassion! Breakfast each morning was 5 star! All of the additional accommodations made for the perfect island getaway! The innkeepers recommended excellent restaurants and took care of making all of our reservations for us! It was the BEST vacation/honeymoon we could have imagined! We have decided that we are most definitely "B&B people" and cannot wait to stay at the Fairbanks House again very soon!

I sent my Mom and Dad to the Fairbanks House a couple of years ago for their anniversary, and was happy that I got to meet my Mom there a few years later for a girl's weekend and check it out myself.

The house is huge and the public rooms feel open and welcoming. We stayed in the Tapestry Room on the second floor. It was beautiful with a very large bathroom (with window seat) that had a fireplace and huge tub. The bed was a comfortable king. They have an in-ground pool, but it was too cool for swimming when we were there. They also have plenty of tables/chairs around the pool, as well as a gazebo with seating.

The breakfasts there were wonderful. You can sit indoors with other guests, or outside alone. Every morning there was a light starter (fruit, yogurt) followed by the main course (pumpkin pancakes, quiche, etc.). There is a wide selection of juices, as well as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. I could never finish my breakfast. It was all delicious.

In the evenings there is a social hour. This is a time to meet your fellow guests and have a couple of small nibbles and a drink or two. They offered us soda, water, beer, wine, or this sweet frozen slushie concoction that was delicious. The three nights we were there, the nibbles were: sausage & garlic bread, sauteed shrimp & crackers and cheese spread, crackers and cheese spread and puff pastry.

I'm saving the best for last, and that would be the hosts. Theresa and Bill were the best hosts I've had at a B&B. They were very professional, but also a lot of fun to talk to (especially Theresa - she's a spitfire!). They had great recommendations and were extremely helpful. They take pride in their house, as they should, because they've done a wonderful job with it. Do yourself a favor and spend a weekend at the Fairbanks.

We had business in Jacksonville a few days after our 9th wedding anniversary. We chose Fairbanks House so we could enjoy ourselves after the work event. Theresa and Bill are awesome. The Emerald Suite was even nicer than the enticing pix on the website. We took the loaner bikes at the house to explore the charming area. Breakfast both days was yummy. This was our first stay here but we are eager to return, especially after Theresa's description of the Thanksgiving & Christmas special events. Great place!

Room Tip: The house is gorgeous. Visit the website to select the room that most appeals to you.

My four sisters and I just spent the weekend in the Tower Suite. Let me say the website pictures do not do it justice. It's a beautiful suite with plenty of room to spread out and all the character you'd expect in a historic home. The carpet was so clean and plush we felt bad everytime we walked up the stairs with our shoes on. I wish we could have spent more time in the room but this was our first visit to Amelia Island so we had a lot of activities planned. We arrived to warm cookies on the counter and ice cream in the freezer. Both were very yummy! Theresa and Bill are natural innkeepers and you can tell they love what they do. Breakfast was delicious and Theresa made sure no one left the table hungry. They even prepared a special gluten free breakfast for one sister. We enjoyed our stay so much we already discussed making it an annual trip. Thank you Theresa and Bill for a wonderful weekend.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Fairbanks House. It is a beautiful, convenient place to stay while at Fernandina Beach. Bill and Teresa are like family. When you are done with a busy day of sightseeing, visiting the beach or shopping, it always feel like you are returning home.

We are already planning our next trip back! :)

Wonderful feel to this place, and lovely warm welcome. Great breakfast sat out on the verandah and a great 'happy hour'. Our bedroom was absolutely magnificent - fourposter, sitting area, kitchen..............!
