“Fun ride”
Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

We decided to go on the carriage ride after having dinner at the Salty Pelican. We went over to the corner of Ash and 2nd Street but we did not see the horse or carriage and we decided to call the company. I happened to have a flyer from their company with me. When I called Cyndi told me she only had one spot available and we took it. So I recommend you call ahead of time maybe a day in advance. The horse was very friendly and well trained. Cyndi gave us a tour of the town and she was very knowledgeable. The homes she showed us were very beautiful and I recommend you take the earliest time possible so you may see the homes in daylight. I think the earliest is 6:00 pm during the summer. Our tour was a 8:15 pm and there was still light at that time too! My son got to ride with Cyndi in the front and he really enjoyed it. Cyndi was also very friendly. I recommend this to everyone who comes to downtown Fernandina. We all got to pet the horse too and my kids really enjoyed that part!!

We enjoyed a very relaxing, informative tour of the historic district on a Saturday evening. Our guide had many stories to share about the area. Well worth doing.

Short carriage ride around the historic district. Friendly and knowledgeable driver. We even gave the horse treats before and after the tour.

“Really fun”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

We were waiting at the parking lot, googling things to do when we saw a large white horse pulling a carriage. Given that it was late in the evening and the beaches were closed, we decided to give the carriage ride with Cyndi and Boomer the horse a shot. Cyndi was a great storyteller, and she really brought the history behind Amelia Island to life. We felt the laidback spirit and warmth of the island people as we drove around, as they greeted and smiled at us as we drove past. There were several neat little houses that had fun and quirky stories, not to mention some incidents with ghosts. Since many of the houses are still owned by the same families and they are extremely well maintained and active residences even today, it felt like we took a whiff of living and breathing history. Overall, well worth it. And Boomer was super cute :) Great value for money too.
