“walk to shops and restaurants”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

We really liked the location. We walked every evening, had dinner, had ice cream, shopped. The hotel blends in to the historic downtown. Breakfast was nice and they have a small room where they sell snacks and some food you can heat in microwave in room. If you stay here ask for a room away from back of hotel where there are train tracks. The train comes by in the middle of the night and sounds its horn at the crossings. We enjoyed watching the train but it did wake us. We will stay here again next time we visit.

Room Tip: toward front of hotel away from train tracks

Located within steps of a pretty harbor, cute shops and the oldest saloon in FL. The decor in the hotel is really neat and Florida-esque. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was very nice and the room was great. We stayed there for a triathlon and my husband was able to ride to the race while we got a little extra sleep. The staff was OK. It took our engagement for them to show any personality on check-in, but, once there, we had a pleasant conversation. The night shift wasn't so hot. We had some noisy guests in our hallway and requested their assistance, but it never was addressed. Breakfast was very nice, but it seemed unattended. Again, very nice hotel, just need some help with the staff.

The location can't beat for convenience to the historic area of Fernandina with all the restaurants, bars & shops. This is a typical Hampton Inn & I felt that it was a little expensive. The room was fine but a little dark. The breakfast was good. The train came by about 10pm & was loud but not a problem at that time. I could see that parking could be an issue but we were able to find a spot both times we needed. Overall it was good. We will be returning in January for a family event & I look forward to the stay.

We've stayed here many times, and while it's always full (or close to it), we're never disappointed. The architecture is great as it fits into the downtown atmosphere perfectly. The location is great, once you've parked, no need to drive for as long as you're in Fernandina. Great restaurants in easy walking distance, and where else can you here the rhythm of a locomotive bell while enjoying a cocktail and looking out over the water? Rooms are immaculate. The breakfast room is on the second floor overlooking the pool and the water...definitely the best we've ever seen with stunning decor and architecture.

Room Tip: We like the ground floor for easy access.

Had to park down the road in the dark, the room I had was not quiet, the AC unit only runs when it needs cooling, the fan will not constantly run. Overpriced for the accomodations. Stain over wall, bathtub has a rust hole.

Todd had a great personal touch with fantastic local recommendations. Not my first nor my last visit for sure. Location at the end of the main street and closest to the marina just puts the cherry on top of the whip cream.
