“In room jacuzzi's are fun”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

My wife and I took a trip to Fernandina Beach, Fl. with little planning. After 39 years of Florida living
and never having been to the Amelia Island area; we decided a day in advance to go. I did my usual homework of hotel and restaurant research and came up with the Hampton Inn @ the Fernandina Beach historic district. It's a long main street with side streets that offer dining, boutiques, watering holes etc. and a full fledge marina. The hotel had three floors and I had reserved a king with in room jacuzzi. It was done up nicely. The tub was in the bedroom side of the total space. It was in an alcove type setting that also offered a large mirror on the wall to give the room a larger effect. The bath had a decent size vanity made of granite. The shower was an independent stand up. The breakfast was one of the best we've encountered including more upscale properties. It had very good choices from yogurt and fresh fruit to the make your own waffles. Eggs were served differently each day with breakfast meats. The room is right off the swimming pool and sun deck. Two things were quite humorous to us, 1. The hotel cocktail and hours derve hour. It took place in the same room as breakfast. The funny thing was you are charged for beer and wine, and the hours derves were a spinach wrap with very tasty ingredients however; it was cut into 1/4 inch slices; one per person. It gave us a laugh and we joked about it for a good while.2. The other laugh was the train. It passes on the marina side of the hotel blowing it's whistle several times in the middle of the night. It reminded us of the train in My Cousin Vinny the movie. We would use the hotel again if we were to make another trip to Fernandina however, it's one of those places that once you see it another trip would be needless.

Room Tip: Go with the jacuzzi tub. Plan on a two night stay max.

This was our first stay at this location. The hotel is located in the historic district so you don't really have to drive to enjoy Amelia Island shops and restaurants. The staff at the hotel were super. They were very helpful and courteous. Our housekeeper, Linda, noticed our anniversary cards on the table. She cleverly made 2 swans out of hand towels and left them on the bed. How thoughtful and clever. We did have our bicycles with us so we went to Fernandina Beach and thru the state park on them. The beach is located about 2-3 miles from the hotel. The marina is directly behind the hotel. We will be back, for sure.

This was our second stay, the last time was in the winter. It was every bit as wonderful as the last time. the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room smelled so fresh. We can walk to great restaurants and see a beautiful sunset on the harbor and drive to the beach so quickly.

We arrived at 9p on a Friday at the hotel. The desk clerk was bright eyed & Friendly! She greeted us as if we were her 1st guest of the night. The room was just as they described on their website. It was clean & spacious. The air unit was a lil loud & kept my fiancee up a bit but it wasn't too bad as I slept like a baby. The breakfast was hot but not like you think. They had sausage, juice, fruit & make-your-own waffle station. We went to Ms Carolyn's for breakfast.

Convenient to downtown and the Harbor for a great after dinner stroll. Didn't miss being near the beach at all!It had the "The 3 C's" convenient -clean - cool! Must be clean above all else and love that you can make the room cool enough! nothing worse than thermostats that say you have turned it down to 68 but it really stays at 75!Ugh! These rooms were cool!

this is an excellent Hotel, great location, helpful staff, and overall just really a nice place to stay. Close to all downtown fun spots, and a short drive to the beach. Rooms were clean, breakfast area was very nice, and the lobby is beautiful. Can't go wrong here!

Stayed for 3 nights with wife
Unique design means limited parking; had to circle the block the first night in and park in a gravel lot right across the street
Had a "quasi harbor view"; bulk of the room faced a local plant and railroad tracks while one small window in bedroom directly faced harbor---suspect a true harbor view out of a decent sized window would have been enjoyable
Two a/c units (suite) made it seemingly impossible to keep an even temperature, but it always put out cold air and never uncomfortable
Breakfast area located on the second floor secondary to the quirky design but was well stocked, easily accesible and clean
No trouble with noise while there; didn't have any issues w/nearby trains
Certainly well positioned for local shops and restaurants if this is your aim; relatively little to do otherwise---small pool at hotel and beach is a substantial car ride away
No complaints with the hotel or staff and would be a good choice if you're wanting to spend a night or two around the Fernandina Beach town district

Room Tip: would shoot for a harbor view, but be careful to clarify the specifics
