We love espana...have been going since 2009 and it is great everytime. I do recommend a reservation for dinner. There specials are always amazing love the paella Valencia and of course always always always get the sangria ! We have taken our baby a few times and they are always accommodating. Servers are always super friendly and seem to know the dishes well. Very nice garden/patio area take a moment to walk around.

Well thank you so much for the review. You have seen a lot of improvements over the course of the past 4 years! We strive to make our small, family "place" as inviting and warm as we can; we will continue to do this until we run out of space :) We are going into our 10th year now and this would not be possible without the continued support and loyalty of so many wonderful people.

We appreciate your patronage ! ** Gracias **

“Charming and delicious”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

My girlfriends and I had a girl's weekend on Amelia Island. Espana was recommended by everyone we encountered. We shared a bunch of tapas: shrimp in garlic sauce was my favorite. We also shared a couple of paella dishes, also yummy. The chocolate torte was absolutely sinful, incredibly moist and rich.
The staff was amazing. Extremely polite and attentive. I left my scarf behind and one of the waiters went out of his way to deliver it to my hotel, way above and beyond the call of duty!

“An all around great experience”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

Decided to have a more upscale meal than usual on this trip and Espana was recommended by a friend. I am so glad the my husband and I decided to go and that we made reservations. The staff was all very attentive and friendly from the moment we got there. We were a bit early for our reservation but the hostess was very gracious and offered to get a drink for us while we waited. Our meal started with fried calamari with a marinara dipping sauce and escargot. Having eaten calamari multiply times it was the best I had ever had. Their version of escargot was wonderful because it is served out of the shell which can be tricky for someone who has never eaten escargot. For our entree we chose the Seafood Paella for two. It was a huge portion and once again made with fresh ingredients. The clams, mussels, scallops, calamari, shrimp and fish were all delicious. The wait staff from the hostess all the way down to the bus boys were all very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Espana and I recommend you make reservations because this place is very popular and deservedly so. It is a bit pricey if your usual meal is a 2 for $20 type of meal but for a more upscale experience it was not overpriced. The only complaint is that it was a bit dark inside for my liking but not so much so that I wouldn't go back in the future.

We certainly appreciate your comments and feel so complimented you would recommend us to others. We are just entering our 10th year and have grown so much from that first day on August 12, 2004! We are confident that we will continue to make improvements and strive to be the best that we can be. We are so pleased you enjoyed your evening..............

After reading this you can be sure that the servers are adjusting the lighting in the garden dining room = Thanx!

“Recommended by the Locals”
Reviewed 1 November 2013 via mobile

Several of the locals on Amelia Island recommended that we go to Espana for a birthday celebration. I'm so glad they did. The menu offers tapas and seafood entrees with Spanish or Portugese sauces. We started with Spanish smoked meats and cheeses and each ordered fish for a main course. My grouper was thick, well prepared, and presented with a tangy tomato based sauce. My husband ordered snapper, and enjoyed every bite. The wine list also reflects the Spanish theme and is fairly priced. We especially appreciated the good service we received and our waitress's recommendations.

Gracias!! We are very pleased you enjoyed your meal, the service and your evening at our home.............We really do think of the restaurant as our home away from home. We know there are many spectacular places to eat in Fernandina, and an amazing array of cuisines and venues to choose from; so your dining with us is truly appreciated :)

I will pass your comments onto your server, Mandy! Hope to see you again when you are in town!

“Espana is delicious!”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

We went with another couple a few weeks ago and were very pleased. We didn't book until that day(Saturday) so reservation times were really early or late. We chose 8:30 and it was very busy when we arrived. We had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated. However, once seated the waiter did a great job of getting us drinks and bread very quickly. We all chose paellas interestingly enough but I did the vegetarian, my husband did the meat one and our friends did the seafood one for two. They were all delicious and enough for take out leftovers. The bread and dipping sauce is superb! The homemade sangria is also delicious. We also did the cheese and meat appetizer which was good but for the vegetarian it had a lot more meat than cheese. It is noisy inside so don't plan to have a quiet talk as it will not be possible. We loved it and plan to o back soon.
