“Decent location and clean”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

Stayed here for one night April/2014 just to begin thawing from a brutal Connecticut winter. The hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly, my room was average size and clean. Balcony overlooking downtown skyline and marina which is under construction and the drawbridge was cool to watch open and close. Kind of a busy traffic area and a 20 minute walk to the beaches. however, there's a Sun Trolley (a bus designed like a trolley) that runs along route 17 and to the beach every 15-20 minutes, $1 dollar per person each way or $3 for the day. How can u beat that???? The trolley stop is right outside the hotel and I recommend it!! The hotel court yard/pool area is very tropical and filled with palm trees and other plants. The pool is very nice and spacious. Decent breakfast buffet on the main floor ($20 per person) Some nice restaurants and shops within walking distance but take the trolley if you don't like a good mile walk. Taxi from the airport was $15 and a about 4 miles. I would stay here again but probably will stay right on the beach next time.

This was my third trip to Pier 66. I think what makes the experience so rich is the staff. From check in to check out. The pool is wonderful. The marina is cool. I liked being able to go down check out the yachts up close. Love the tower view, although I hear the villas are very nice also. Met three different groups from Boston. I guess if you are from Boston you have to stay here.

Advice: Tip well and use the Bellman!

Room Tip: Try to get an even floor in the tower. Bigger balconey.

We appreciate your review about your stay and apologize the accommodations and amenities fell short of your expectations. We have just started the process of improving the cosmetic and mechanical aspects of all the rooms and hope to have it completed in the near future. Our Pelican Landing restaurant is currently closed for updates and will reopen at the end of October. Grille 66 & Bar restaurant is always a great choice for dinner and we apologize if our team did not present you with other options as well. We hope you will give us another try in the future so we can leave you with much better memories.

We spent a long weekend at the end of March at the hotel for a wedding. We were a little concerned because of some of the reviews posted, but everything was fine.

The wedding ceremony was held on the grounds shortly before sunset and was great. The smorgasbord was on ground floor level and the reception dinner was on the top floor of the tower. The room has a revolving floor. The food at the wedding reception was fine.

We were on a high floor in the tower and had a view of both the cruise ships and the ocean. The views were excellent and we were satisfied with the room. Other family members stayed in the separate buildings that had a view of the pools and gardens and were satisfied.

The hotel was totally booked when we were there because there were 5 or 6 cruise ships that disembarked and embarked over the weekend and there were many weddings and other parties. Even though the hotel was full, the pool did not feel overcrowded and the grounds were well maintained. We were also happy with the breakfast buffet.

The biggest complaint we had concerns the elevators. One of the elevators was being repaired and so was out of service for a large part of one day. This situation was more frustrating because the hotel was so heavily booked.

Another complaint has to do with our room reservations. We reserved our room and other family members’ rooms on line. It was not an easy process and the emailed reservation did not match what we had actually reserved. (The written reservation said we were getting twin beds when we had actually reserved a queen bed. The written reservation had us on a lower floor in the tower than we actually reserved.) I called several times to try to get the written reservation corrected. We were told that we would get what we had asked for (and that in fact was what happened), but it was very frustrating to not get it in writing.

One tip: If you walk across the street, you can pick up the Sun Trolley. It is an inexpensive way to travel in Fort Lauderdale and allows you to avoid driving in a location where traffic is heavy and parking is a problem. One fee gives you unlimited use for the day. One route goes along AIA and you can take it to get to the beach. Another allows you to go to Los Olas Boulevard. We also took it to the Museum of Art on Los Olas Boulevard.

Thank you for sharing with us your wonderful review of your recent stay at Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. We are thrilled you enjoyed the wedding ceremony and reception and that your overall experience was pleasant, comfortable and memorable. Our apologies for the malfunctioning elevator and any miscommunication during the booking process but we are glad in the end the rooms you and your family stayed in where exactly what you hoped for and more. It sound like you were able to explore Fort Lauderdale a bit as well. Sun Trolley is a great way to go around town and to the beach! This hotel is well located in Fort Lauderdale and some rooms have a great view (depending where is your room) but it is way too big and too old in my opinion; From the main lobby we had to walk around the hotel 10 minutes to get in our room (20 minutes the first time since there is no sign indicating the rooms). Our room was a good size and clean but they need to be updated (the bathroom was ugly and very dated, the carpet was also pretty ugly and the room had a moisture smell). If you're paying more than 120$ for this hotel, go somewhere else (hotwire and priceline often offer great deal for this hotel).

Thank you for your review of your recent visit to our hotel. Guests' feedback is very important to us as it helps us highlight the areas where we still need to improve. We recently changed the furniture in the majority of guest rooms and the upcoming projects include changing the carpets and various cosmetic and mechanical updates in all the rooms. We are pleased you enjoyed your spacious and clean accommodations overall and that you found our hotel location convenient and hope you will visit us again in the future.

This was a unique opportunity to check out an iconic local hotel near where we live. This recognizable hotel is one we drive by often, and due to a wedding we had the opportunity to stay here and experience it firsthand. The service and friendliness of the staff are definitely the caliber of employees you’d expect to find at a Hyatt. We stayed in one of the second story rooms surrounding the pool. The room was a little outdated, but very clean and we had no problem with it. I believe this property has been here for 50 years and I would say our room might not have been up to a true Hyatt standard, but it was very well presented. I was able to see one of the tower rooms when visiting another guest and although it had a nicer/larger balcony than my room, it was smaller and outdated. I was happy with my choice of rooms based on seeing two other rooms during my stay.

Like any true Hyatt experience, the quality of service is where this property shines. I was greeted by everyone I walked past. Bartenders and wait staff at the pool bar and lobby bar were terrific. For only being there 2 days, they remembered our drinks and even continued some of the conversation we had with them at other times. We had breakfast on-site one morning and found the service by the hosts, servers, and chef to be extremely friendly. The pool area was always well kept, clean, and the design and waterfalls really gave the area a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

I should also add that the staff, servers, and bartenders for the wedding were wonderful and engaging. The food was probably the best wedding meal I have ever had. It was equivalent to a five star restaurant. Usually banquet settings with plated dinners seem mass produced and mediocre, but not here, this meal was incredible! The whole experience was great and I am sure all of the guests and the bride and groom felt the same way. I wish I considered this venue for our wedding and I would highly recommend it. I haven’t been to the top of this hotel’s revolving area since it was a bar/lounge over ten years ago. It was nice to see it again and experience the outstanding Hyatt service and quality for this wedding.

I debated 4 stars overall due to the noticeable age of the property. But due to our room and the grounds being so well maintained along with the extremely friendly and helpful staff it really was a five star experience.

I would say this is a 3 star hotel at best only because they do have valet parking. It is very dated and could use an update. Overall it just looks very weathered. The pool is very nice and the pool bar had a lot of options. It is very pricey.

You can't go to the top of the tower because it's closed for private parties and events. It sucks because it was the reason we chose this place to see our ship when it arrived.

Parking is 21 dollars a day by the way.

I would stay here again but never pay the $238 just as I did this time. I would consider this an equivalent to a Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

Thank you for staying with us during your recent visit to Fort Lauderdale and for your review. We recently replaced the furniture in the majority of the guest rooms and have now started making necessary cosmetic and mechanical updates in all rooms. Other projects are on the way. Even though the Pier Top is mostly open for private events, our guests are welcome to visit it and enjoy the sweeping views when the room is available. Alternatively, you can go ahead and book your room in the Tower section, then contact us and we will ensure your room is overlooking the cruise port. We are looking forward to welcoming you back!
