“Older hotel, but nice experience.”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

My husband and I just returned from the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six. We booked knowing that the hotel is an older hotel, we opted for a Marina room in the two story building, because we prefer to be closer to the outdoors and not in a tower. Although very comfortable and quiet, the room was in need of a little work, the carpet was worn and stained, near the sliding patio door, and the walls and vanity in the bathroom were in need of some work. The bed was quite comfortable. It wouldn't take much to make the room very nice once again. The pool area and the interior hotel grounds are very pretty. The boat docks are under construction at this time. We ate dinner at Grill 66 it was wonderful, the service and food were excellent. We had breakfast at the hotel, they had a very nice buffet and our server Jose, was very pleasant and attentive. Parking is a little expensive, but we felt the room rate was quite a value and we weren't charged a resort fee like so many hotels charge these days. There isn't much within walking distance, but you can find everything you need just a short drive away on 17th Street. We would definitely consider staying here again, it is a perfect location if you are leaving from Fort Lauderdale on a cruise or if you happen to be there for the boat show.

Thank you for choosing our Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six and sharing with us your comments about your stay. It appears your overall experience was pleasant and comfortable. We are in the process of updating our rooms in order to increase their comfort and appearance and the marina rooms are first on our improvement list. Thank you for your compliment about Jose-we will be happy to pass on the kudos. We are thrilled you are considering returning and we hope to welcome you back soon!

We were given a deluxe tower room on a higher floor and we had amazing views of the ocean and cruise ships. We were there for a conference so we didn't choose this hotel. Two of the restaurants were closing due to construction so we were able to dine at those before they closed and they were amazing. To get to other restaurants it is quite a drive in terrible traffic. It is a quick drive to the airport. This would be a perfect place for cruise ship travelers since the ships are so close.

Room Tip: Ask for a deluxe room on a higher floor in the tower. Some of our business associates did not like t...

Thank you for your reivew about your visit to our hotel. We apologize the Pelican Landing restaurant was closed due to marina renovations. It will reopen with a fresh new look and menu at the end of October. We are pleased you enjoyed the views from your deluxe accommodations and hope you will come back in the future.

Our room was very tired, it is definitely time for an update. Bathroom fan noicy and ineffective, A/C very noisy and kept going on/off due to bad programming tools. Parking is very expensive and was not included and as the hotel is isolated (1 mile from the beach) a car is needed. There is nothing else around apart from a gas station and a convenience store. But if your goal is to just hang around the pool for a few days - it is very nice.

Room Tip: Don't go for the low-rise. Not sure if the tower is nicer though, but worth a try.

Thank you for sharing your stay experience. We are glad you mentioned exhaust fans as we are in the process of installing new ones. Many other updates are in the works as well. Although having a car is convenient, there are other options to get around Fort Lauderdale, for example our complimentary shuttle to the beach area, Water Taxi (the nearest stop is now across the intracoastal but the services will resume at our hotel at the end of October) and Sun Trolley (bus stop located across the hotel). We hope you have a chance to try any of these options next time you visit. We are pleased you liked our pool area. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

I stayed here with my wife the night before we left on a cruise from nearby Port Everglades. We arrived kind of late but the guy at the front desk upgraded our room to a nice ocean-view suite at no charge. The room was nice and seemed newly updated. Nothing to complain about as I would stay here again if I was ever in Fort Lauderdale.

We stayed at this hotel because we only had a day in Fort Lauderdale and we wanted to see the beach, go downtown and ride on the intercostal waterways. We heard that the water taxi is a great way to do all of these things and we booked the hotel because the water taxi is supposed to stop there. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found out that the stop was closed due to renovations on the pier. We were a little disappointed but we walked to the Hilton across the bridge and got the water taxi from there (warning: it isn't a long walk but it isn't a short one either. If conditions aren't ideal or you have children or travelling companions with mobility issues I wouldn't recommend it)

Our room was large and clean, but the bathtub and furniture seemed a little run down. We had a nice view and the bed was comfortable. Another couple that was travelling with us had some problems with their door lock and closure. It appeared that the door could have been kicked open in the past. The hotel staff responded quickly but they simply came down and "jiggled" the lock to ensure it was working at the time. They also had trouble with red ants in their shower.

The staff was generally friendly and the hotel has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to its potential in many ways.

Thank you for staying with us and for your candid feedback. We will pass it on to the pertinent departments in order to improve our services in the future. Although not exactly what you expected, we are pleased you found your accommodations spacious and comfortable. We apolgize your were not able to board the Water Taxi directly at our hotel. It will be back at the end of October once the marina renovations are completed. We are doing a lot of updates to our guest rooms and public areas and we hope you will return in the future.

Stayed here over the July 4th weekend. Had a room in the tower. It was very spacious but we thought the couch was a sofa bed - it was not. When I asked about getting a roll away I was told they were not allowed to put those in the room we were in. We had a room with 2 double beds for 3 adults and 1 child. Not sure I understand the reason we could not get the roll away since it was a very spacious room. Thankfully the beds were super comfortable. Everything about the room was lovely. The view of the port was spectacular. It was awesome sitting on the balcony on the 13th floor.

The pool was very nice but very crowded that weekend. I was disappointed to see someone with their dog sitting on the deck right in front of the sign that says no dogs on the pool deck and no one said anything - but then the only ones around were the people taking drink orders.
There was a lot of things to do besides the pool - soccer, swings, croquet to name a few.

It was disappointing to learn the top of the building not only does not rotate any more but it is only used for private functions.

Overall it was a nice place to stay and only rated it 4 stars because of the sleeping situation and having to pay for parking

Room Tip: We had read that the Marina rooms needed to be updated so we stayed away from those. The tower room...

Thank you for staying with us over the 4th of July weekend. We are glad you enjoyed your visit overall and we will share you helpful comments with the team. We appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately we do not allow rollaway beds in rooms with two beds per fire safety regulations. We hope you watched the fireworks from the Pier Top. The Pier Top still rotates (sometimes it is hardly noticeable!) and although mostly used for private events, it opens its doors for special occassions (Mother's Day, etc.). We will be happy to put you on our mailing list: please contact our hotel directly with your name and email. We hope to see you back soon!

We stayed on the "motel side" as some of these reviews refer to the pool side. Anyone who compares this to a motel 6 hasn't ever stayed in one. Yes we had to Walk outside but the walk was worth it. The room was clean spacious and had a great patio. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and very knowledgable about the area. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. Overall a great visit.
