OK--- it's small. And it has the largest CoBrA collection of mid century are in the country. Mostly you'll see traveling shows, or art from local collections. Membership is the way to go here if you visit a couple times a year. Or pay the $18 and enjoy an hour or so wandering through it's two floors. Nice cafe outside and make it a day on Las Olas.

Rather small but so is Fort Lauderdale. There are some interesting works and exhibits change frequently enough to keep it fresh.

Lots of great art and trendy feel. The museum is conveniently located near many venues. Some art, lunch and drinks in the area a must! What could be better.

The Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale has the largest collection of works by William Glackens and it is a local treasure that many people may miss. Part of this treasure will be traveling this summer to New York and Philadelphia exhibits so our northern friends will get to see what this extraordinary artist is all about. Just take a look at his "Cape Cod Pier" from 1908 and you will be awestruck by his use of color and representation. He puts you right in the picture, walking behind these lovely ladies with their white parasols amidst a beach scene of that day. I want to see more of his work and it is on permanent, rotating display right here in Fort Lauderdale. Though small, this museum should not be missed.

Always worth visiting, the Museum currently has three exhibitions running, one on photographs by the Civil Rights photographer Bob Adelman, celebrating the 50th anniversary of key Civil Rights legislation in the US, one on the "American Impressionist" painter William Glackens and another on the "Spirit of COBRA", the 1950's innovative post-war art movement in Europe that tried to break new ground and anticipated much of the art of the 1960's
