Worth a few hours, this idyllic home preserved - the tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Especially loved the tiki bar/orchid green room.

“nice, but pricy”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Beautiful old mansion and gardens located in the middle of the fort lauderdale. Tour price might catch some people off guard.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Never heard of Bonnet House before our Fort Lauderdale vacation but very happy we took the tour. Was like walking back in time. The home and grounds and all the original art work, furnishings, and household items was amazing. Highly recommend.

“Original furnishings and pieces, unchanged!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

I was shocked it was so pristine and original. The story behind it is fascinating, with Hugh Taylor Birch (of Birch State Park across the street fame). Wow, the woman only passed away a few years ago at OVER 100. It really is fascinating, stepping back into old Fort Lauderdale living. Walk around the grounds and go across the Tikki Hut bridge. It is truly something and the last piece to survive.

“Nice outing”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

The bonnet house is one of its kind and worth paying a visit!
The history of the house is interesting. Lots of things were recycled and/or were made by the owner, Frederic Bartlett, which was impressive. The style of the house is eclectic and sometimes downright strange (e.g., the owners had a thing for monkeys as well as sea shells - two recurring themes in the interior as well as exterior), but makes sense in its own uniqueness.
The garden is interesting as well (e.g., it has these small ancient palm trees, plants that will make you narcotic). For an extra $2, you get a tour on a golf cart in the garden.
Marco, our tour guide, was the best - very friendly and knowlegdeable!
