Such a great classic steak restaurant. The side dishes are the real star but dessert, cocktails and their dry aged steaks are a must as well. Plan for a long night to really enjoy it and ask to be seated by the jellyfish wall, it's really calming and mesmerizing.

“Pretentious and overpriced”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Went there for dinner on 2nd June. You have to go into the back of the restaurant to be seated (even if you are sitting outside), probably so that you can see the aquarium full of jellyfish! Yuk.
No smiles or welcome from the reception staff and our waiter was not much better. The meal started well with a shrimp starter which was beautifully presented and very tasty. Then we had steak which was really run of the mill nothing special at all. My potatoes au gratin which apparently is one of their signature dishes was oozing all over the place, huge and pretty tasteless. We did have a good bottle of wine though. Our server was surly and we felt pretty uncomfortable. If you want to go to an overpriced restaurant with unfriendly staff this is the place for you!

“Dull, overpriced restaurant for jellyfishes, definitely not for tourists”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Our experience was terrible in this restaurant from start to end.
And it just ruined our birthday lunch.
Saint Tropez pricing with Walmart glam.
A senior club of jellyfish enthusiasts must have posted all the good reviews, I see no other explanation. Food lovers will have to try something else.
In second thought, even the concept of it seems absurd: steaks on a seafront, seriously? Cold mannered staff ‘à la française’ (and coming from Paris I know what ‘cold’ at a Hôtel Costes café means)? Why not, but if you want to play it the French way, at least serve decent ‘cuisine’, a decent surrounding, ask for your rare clients to be properly dressed and make sure that the tattoos worn by your hostesses stay out of sight!

At the entrance of the restaurant, the two hostesses were just plain rude: not a smile, not an attention. Not even a goodbye (in an empty restaurant).
I had taken the precaution to book for 3 via OpenTable and to make it clear that it was for a birthday lunch.
The hostess took about 5 minutes to check on a computer. The standard of service you get at a medical center, I guess. Made me spell my name 3 times. Almost had to apologize for being a tourist bearing a 6-letter name during the interrogation. The funniest thing about it all? The large restaurant was almost empty, on a 4th of July, wherever you look at, both indoors and outdoors.
I feel embarrassed.
I really wish that she will not get such an unprofessional level of service should she ever come and visit Europe.

CONS
- Indoor in the dark, outdoor next to the road (with the guarantee of 24/7 traffic on Lauderdale Beach blvd).
- Chic as a train station can be, in my opinion.
- Our 2 outdoor wood tables were wobbling.
- Uncomfortably seated, the table being too high.
- No napkin, not table sets at this price range.
- Indoors and outdoors: clients in swimwear, board shorts, towels and all what exemplifies 'American chic’ at its paramount. Definitely upscale.
- Resultantly: sand everywhere on the cushions where we were supposed to seat. We had to clean things up by ourselves.
- Invasive server mechanically asking if everything was ‘doing well’ every minute, even when nothing on the table.
- Super-invasive server compulsively sponging our glasses of water (while spilling even more water each time he made this).
- Terrible food overall: tacos with salad (yes they do make restaurants to eat tacos stuffed with salad in America!), tons of turkey sandwiches with over-toasted bread, the kind of bread you take for the kids at your local grocery store. Correct espressos.
- Steak was served on an inappropriately dressed plate, with sauce stains on the edges.
- Should I add: insane bill, of course. USD 240 (3 persons) + USD 5 (valet) for just: appetizers + 2x sandwiches and 1x steak + 3x espressos… Given the overall disaster, we did not even want to give the desserts - should I say “pastry shoppe” - a try...

PRO
- A convenient way to valet-park your car in Fort Lauderdale on a 4th of July, maybe?

“Food, service good...ambience so so”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

For the most part, we enjoyed our experience at Steak 954. The decor was pretty cool (loved the jellyfish tank) and the food was quite good (especially the tuna taco appetizer). The wine list was fairly impressive but a little weak on the Bordeaux (surprising for a steak house). We had a great server. My only complaint about him (and it may not have been his fault) is that my husband's and my requested meat temperatures got switched...a bit disappointing. Additionally, we were seated in very close proximity to a table of 4 people who spent most of their evening checking their smart phones for updates on the NBA draft. Their general behavior was very distracting and off-putting. Not the ideal dining experience.

Reviewed 2 July 2014

Went for a birthday dinner celebration and wasn't disappointed! the lobster and crab ceviche with coconut was awesome! both steaks were cooked perfectly as ordered. the best was the stuffed hash brown side-an absolutely brilliant dish! Didn't love our sever-she was somewhat disconnected but the food was 5 star
