“wouldn't recommend it, dirty and unwelcoming”
Reviewed 31 January 2011

I stayed at the hotel on January 2011 and the experience wasn't pleasant. To start with, the staff at the reception desk is the most unwelcoming staff I have encountered after years of traveling, not even saying hello when you walk into the hotel. Regarding the cleanliness, the rooms where not vacuumed during my entire stay, I mean I would see the same crumbs left by me the day before! The carpets were worn out, even with a yellow stain, the appliances and paint seemed very used and what was once a nice decor is now worn out. (Btw good luck even getting the room done!)
There were even strange (and disgusting!) smells in the corridors.
If you are bothered by noises, do not even think of this hotel. There is a fire station just 2 blocks away and trucks constantly go through.
The location is nice, just 3 blocks from the beach, but you can find better in Fort Lauderdale, where some hotels have direct access to the beach! (and are much better, believe me!)
The gym is very dark, with no working air conditioner and with little channels on its tvs.
The only positive things about the hotel are the pool and outside services, which tough a little unkept are nicely decorated and the heated pool.
All in all I would seriously recommend choosing another hotel!

Try to get a room with a view of the intracoastal waterway and watch the boats go by.
The higher up you are the better your distant ocean views are. This location offers a little bit for everyyone. My wife enjoyed being across the street from the upscale mall and I enjoyed being just a couple hundred yards from the state park entrance for a morning walk. The water taxi (they have a depot at the Hotel) is the easiest way to get down to Los Olas or any of the other "go to" spots in the area. It's also alot more fun to hop on the boat and see the area from the water. This is a nice Hotel in a great spot and I would certainly return. The parking fee is complete BS and unfortunately very common at all of the hotels in Lauderdale and Miami. They should do a better job of disclosing it to unsuspecting guests so that they are not caught of gaurd. This results in a negetive experience at check in before you have had the opportunity to see all the nice things that the hotel has to offer.

Really liked this hotel. We were upgraded to a room on top floor with great view of the intercoastal waterway. The rooms and the public spaces are beautiful. Breakfast was excellent. Fitness room was very good. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Valet staff had trouble explaining the parking options, though they tried and they did not push the valet option. I still do not understand it fully, but even self parking is $20 a night. Overall a top hotel, with great cookies.

We stayed coincidentally during the Christmas boat parade. What fun! Our room was stylish and comfortable. A family of 5, sharing the bathroom got a little tight. Only critique, was no bathtub. We brought an inflatable baby tub for our 2 year old. Lovely bathroom, but wished the door swang out, not in.

We walked across the street to cvs or down the street to 7-11 on route to home from the beach to get supplies for kitchen.

Beach only a 5 minute walk and totally under rated. Quiet sparkling, despite being a city beach.

Pool was beautiful, the "beach" area of the hotel had chic lawn furniture, and water taxi at your door.

Be warned if you have small kids. Do not plan to spend time at their beach area, as it's open un-fenced boat dock. Pool also more adult friendly. But loved the decor.

If you go for the boat parade be forewarned, they block off close up viewing areas and a good 2/3 of access to the parade view, unless you pay a steep cover for their
"private party area".

People whom booked to watch the parade were angry about this.
We came precruise, so no tears about this. We did however the area surrounding very much. We saw a manatee and iguanas right from the hotel property!

This hotel is in a nice location - walking distance to the Galleria and very close to the beach. I thought the service was very good and we had a really nice suite overlooking the water. It was quiet at night. We had continental breakfast every morning, which was decent. There was ample parking. The only problem we had was that there was only one business center computer working out of three.

We stayed here for the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Parade and live in the area. We stayed in a suite for Hilton Points which was nice however there were no other Hilton Honors benefits. They do not allow people to get a room with a view of the water with points during the boat parade, no free breakfast, concierge level, etc.

Hotel was a bit rude during the boat parade. People were securing spots with good viewing all day and then about an hour before the parade they vacated everyone due to a private party and crammed the remaining people who paid dearly for their rooms into a very small area by the pool. They should have warned people much earlier then they did and put signs out. They also had very bright lights on throughout the parade which was annoying. The boat parade was enjoyable outside of that.

Suites have a small kitchen, table, couch. Was reasonably nice with a decent size balcony.

The hotel is walking distance from the beach, a mall, bars, etc.

I have stayed in hotels all over the world and this was probably the worst stay of my life. I
would not and could not ever recommend this hotel to anyone. In spite of renovation three
years ago, it is ready for another. The carpets are tired, the furniture is scored, the cupboards
are barely hanging on their hinges, there is a leak in the roof, the refrigerator freezes your
food, the toaster did not work, the TV worked only in black and white (I could go on if time
allowed). The pool resides in the shade about half the day and is very dirty. Many of the
pool chairs are broken and dangerous. The staff are probably the most ornery and non
hospitable that I have ever met. This Hilton Hotel is certainly lacking the qualities of a
top rate hotel chain. There are a thousand other choices available, choose any one of them before this one.
