What can isay greathotel, newly renovated rooms, super clean, good staffand a hot breakfast included, the little extra that you pay here against the really budget places is worth it, the staff here can be proud of what they acheive.

Wish there was a rating between "average" and "very good", as this hotel would fit the bill right in between. We stayed here for a night, pre-cruise, and our room was ready and clean when we arrived, plenty of hot water and plenty of towels. The elevator had seen better days and "thunked" when stopping at the destination. Front desk staff were good. The shuttles (from the airport, a lot further away than we were expecting, and TO the cruise port) were good and pretty much on time. There's a average/good pub-type restaurant down the street and a Walgreens (with attached liquor store) a little further on the opposite side of the street, so that was nice for last minute pick-ups.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor closest to the road, but the noise from the street wasn't bothers...

So, this hotel is quite the operation. After arriving for a one week stay at this hotel, the hotel tried to charge more then what the reservation was for. This reservation was made months earlier. The front desk clerk was left to the duty of trying to get this extra cash while Frank the manager at the time hid in the back office. Gotta love that. They tried to blame Best Western for changing the rate. So...I called Best Western. Of course we didn't change the rate said customer care. We don't set the rates, the hotel does. Hmmmm. Well, after the good folks at Best Western told the hotel they had to honour the rate, (We did find out that someone from the Hotel office did a override to change the rate) we finally after one hour of arguing got to the room. Still hadn't seen the manager. The room was fine. Not sure if it was the room we booked, but we were in! The property is well taken care of and very clean. However, there is signs everywhere. Don't sit here. Don't do this. LOL Kinda funny. Oh well. Wish there would have been chairs to sit outside your room. But the signs say you can do that. Wish I could have brought a beer down to the pool. Guess what...the sign says no. They have a bar at the pool and that is where your drink should come from. Don't get out of the pool wet! Anyways. The front office needs to learn that they can't change prices because we had a deal. Border line of committing fraud, I think they call it. Frank the manager should deal with upset clients himself. And one last thing. The only staff member at this hotel with any type of great customer service is Marc the bartender. He should be running the whole show.

We stayed st the Oakland park inn 2 nights before a cruise with friends. At first we were not sure what we had gotten ourselves in to but after a short time we just loved where we were. They picked our group of 6 up at the airport and the driver to the hotel was continually giving us tips on the area which we were most appreciative of. We all enjoyed the tiki bar and with the cold snap during our visit they had the outside heaters going which we found nice. Staff was informative, courteous abd helpful. Shuttle to the port was arranged for $5.00 pp which was great. All in all the hotel was perfect for our situation. Breakfast was ample and really ample room, we all took advantage of it. There is a small mall near by, a cinema, and try the ale house, we did twice. Yes, I would definitely recommend the Oakland park inn.

Both hot and cold water were rusty colored. Desk clerk when told responded "... Southern Florida." No help at all. Hard to get out of parking lot because of traffic and visibility to curved street. Breakfast was typical . Location was good. but I would NOT stay here again.

We have stayed at a couple of places in Ft. Lauderdale before a cruise. This one is okay. $5 charge for the shuttle from the airport but they said it would take 25 - 30 minutes to pick us up and they were right. Some people at the shuttle pick up spot said they have been waiting 2 hours. Not sure why they didn't take a taxi. Google or Bing shows a restaurant in front of the motel. Closed. Pool bar was also closed by the time we got there. However the Ale House (another review) is up the street and there is an Irish pub around the corner. Hotel buffet breakfasts have never been too good so we went to the Original Pancake House, next door to the Ale House. Don't bother (another review). Check out time is 11:00 and we had to wait until 1:00 for the port shuttle. Pool bar didn't open until about 12:30 but that is where you will be waiting for the shuttle. They could have re-opened the breakfast area but didn't. Front desk staff was a little surly. I walked about a mile down the road and there is nothing furniture and mattress stores on this section of the Federal Hwy. Ale House is pretty good so just go there.

This hotel was very clean and comfortable, and conveniently located to Highway #1. Staff were helpful and friendly. Great place to stay while we visited the Florida Keys. I would definitely stay there again.
