There is no place quite like this in Ft. Lauderdale, and we know this city pretty well. It's a gem of a small hotel, located on the intercostal facing west on the Beach. It is compact and intimate. Our suite, room 109, was terrific, with a private dining terrace overlooking the water and facing a gorgeous evening sky. Breakfasts on the dock are divine, as is all the food at this wonderful place. The dinners are excellent...you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The rooms are well appointed with all the amenities you could possibly want aside from a coffee maker. Nice pool area, nice bar area, excellent outdoor spaces. So what are the negatives? There is only one...the service is just slightly off the mark. The Dominican housekeeper could not be nicer, and the waiters and waitresses at dinner are really good. But there is something not quite right at the front desk. Can't put my finger on it, but there may be a mild "attitude" that rings the wrong bell. A tad more friendly, more willing to assist would help. But it's a minor thing...all in all this is an excellent property that is a hidden gem and one that we highly recommend.

Staying at The Pillars is either stepping back in time to the golden age of hotel stay, or magically being transported to a boutique hotel in France... I'm not sure which. The hotel is beautifully appointed, the staff is very accommodating without being irritatingly sweet, and the food is outstanding. If I had to find fault... the internet speed is terrible. Bring your own connection.

Room Tip: Any room other than the room closest to reception.

My husband and I were looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation in Florida in the heart of spring break season. Thank goodness we found The Pillars. It's a hidden oasis that you can barely see from the street because it's covered with so many palm trees. Once inside, you find a quiet haven that is beautiful and serene. (Hard to believe when the hustle-and-bustle of the crowded beach and partying college students is just 2-3 blocks away.)

Eating dinner outside at the Secret Garden is an absolute must, and the almond french toast poolside or via room-service is a special treat you don't want to miss. The staff is extremely friendly and the property is very clean/well-appointed.

Note -- you're greeted with a glass of wine upon arrival, which is a very nice touch. However, they do not have a full bar. Only wine and beer are served on premises.

Room Tip: A pool-side room on the 2nd floor is your best option.

My husband and I have returned to The Pillars many times. Our visits have always been wonderful experiences.
The Pillars is an oasis of calm with a friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are luxurious and well-appointed. Dinner in The Secret Garden - the in-house dining room - is similar to eating at a friend's home--if that friend had a spectacular chef because the food is delicious. We have also dined on the dock overlooking the beautiful Intercoastal Waterway. The convenience of the watertaxi pulling right up to the dock is another positive point. The pool and surrounding areas are immaculate. Caroline and every member of her staff do their best to ensure that each guest has a wonderful stay.
We will always return to The Pillars but wish that Connecticut was a little closer to Florida so our visits could be more frequent!

On our recent vacation we decided to spend one night in Fort Lauderdale prior to boarding our cruise ship. We travel from the west coast and always like to have an opportunity to acclimate to the time change prior to starting our cruise whenever possible. Based on reviews we read in Tripadvisor we selected the Pillars. It was and excellent choice the hotel staff and facilities were outstanding and the food in their restaurant was excellent. We highly recommend this boutique hotel!

When we first relocated to Fort Lauderdale, we found this fabulous hotel through Trip Advisor. Had it not been for the reviews on Trip Advisor, I would have never known about this incredible boutique hotel. From the peaceful setting on the intercoastal, to Caroline and her amazing staff, this boutique hotel is top notch. My husband and I highly recommend staying at The Pillars instead of the chain hotels one block away. Of special note is The Secret Garden, the restaurant at The Pillars. The food is spectacular! Now that we live in south Florida, we enjoy 'staycations' at the Pillars. It is our own local paradise.
