Short Answer: Loved it! Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Lauderdale.

Details: The Pillars is a peaceful oasis just a short walk from the bustling and swimmable Lauderdale beach. It is a small, elegant yet comfortable, top of the line establishment situated on a wealthy section of intercostal that is fun to watch in its own right. We were treated to a wonderful room that exceeded our expectations. Even though it was a holiday weekend most of the time we felt it was our private home. The restaurant’s waterfront meal was excellent. Outstanding experience overall.

I have to agree with the latest reviewers. My wife and I were there for one night before having to fly home from Miami after having spent a vacation staying at friends further North.
A beautiful very well taken care boutique Inn-style hotel which has earned it high rank on tripadvisor. Great rather quiet location just minutes away from the bustle of Las Olas, a very clean room right off the pool courtyard. Relaxed on very comfortable pool furniture. Pleasant staff that offered us a cool drink while waiting for our room to be ready for us (we were there a little early) and also let us check out a little later than house policy. Enjoyed an (average) breakfast on the above-average deck right on the water. It's good to see a hotel like this which some might consider "old-fashioned" get such great reviews. Definitely deserved but also not the cheapest place we have ever stayed at.

Wow

What a beautiful hotel in an amazing waterfront location

Not the cheapest place we have ever stayed (deliberate understatement,) but worth every cent!

Beautiful well appointed rooms in a fantastic hotel

Great staff and the pool is great ( be warned though that it is not heated so can come as a bit of a shock to the system lol)

The water taxi will pick you up from the jetty at the rear of the hotel, just ask the front desk staff and they will arrange it for you, it's a really good way to see the incredible houses and boats of the very rich and famous who reside in the area

This was a fantastic stay and we would love to come again one day

Just stayed for one night in April, booked through Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Prior to arriving there had been a mix up about how much we were charged upfront, however on arrival this was compensated for by the extremely pleasant General Manager who had upgraded us to a suite.

The room itself was at the end of the block, closest to the waterway, and it was excellent. The bed was large and very comfortable, the sitting area had a lovely couch, large flat screen TV and around 6-700 channels.

The seperate bathroom had a large and very comfortable bath with an above bath shower unit.

The reception staff were all very welcoming, organised a taxi for us to leave the next day with a minimum of fuss and generally looked after us well.

We ate dinner in the body of the hotel, it being a little too breezy for us to eat on the dock. The food was very good and the service attentive.

We also ate a very good breakfast there on the following morning.

We did not have time to try the pool, only just had time to find the library, but we did enjoy the dock which sits on the inland waterway.

The hotel is also just a short walk from the beach.

Will definitely return.

Smoking, which I thought was banned in and around hotels and public places is allowed here. The gentleman 2 rooms down to us sat outside his room and proceeded to smoke his carton of cigarettes, yes he sat outside his room, neighboring ours with his carton out, and worked his way through it in two days. So every time we went to sit outside the smoke was "in our face". Too bad.
Bath towels are frayed, beach towels have holes and the bedding is very tired, pillows are worn out, sheets showing age.
The physical architecture is really very nice, and the renovations over the years are impessive. Dinner and breakfast great. The location on the intracoastal can't be beat...but .. needs a "kick".
PS.. have been coming here for about 15 years, if not more. Really hate to write this but feel it is very important, especially is smoking is not in your list.

Dear Sir,

After 15 years of enjoying The Pillars Hotel we are sorry you had a bad experience, and certainly appreciate the feedback.

Most importantly we are very sorry that your experience was less than that of your previous years. It appears your biggest problem was with a nearby smoker. On occasion we have guests come to us with a similar problem and we then ask the offending party to smoke somewhere else. From experience they comply. Our records do not indicate that you told us about the problem when you were at the hotel. At that point we likely could have solved the problem.

We have the same rules regarding smoking as we had 15 years ago. We do not allow smoking in the rooms or any of our indoor public spaces. We were way ahead of the law in South Florida which more recently changed the rules to be the same as ours.

So as always, all rooms and enclosed public areas are nonsmoking. We have an international clientele which includes some smokers. Most respect the needs of their fellow guests and will find an outdoor space that is non-intrusive to smoke. Others who need to be asked invariably comply. We just need to know so we can deal with the situation.

As far as linens and towels throughout the hotel, many guests are so impressed with the amenities that they inquire about where to purchase them. Sheets and towels are replaced about three times a year. This is a rate substantially higher than when you started frequenting the hotel.

Our in-house inventory of new linens is substantial. We discussed your experience with housekeeping and the best explanation they came up with was the problem of mixing four month old linens with new ones thereby making the older ones look inferior. Or just as likely they may have failed to recognize sheets that should have been pulled. The same applies for towels. This was not a failure of investment but a failure in procedure. We have never put guest satisfaction before profits! It is really helpful when guests talk to us and let us know of let downs on the spot. This way we can address issues right away – for you and other guests as well.
With regard to pillows –every pillow in the hotel was replaced in the last twelve months. All our beds feature two high-end feather pillows and two high-end foam pillows. Since we are a boutique hotel, we like to give our guests a choice. We also have a whole supply of various pillow types to meet different needs. I am sorry that you never mentioned to us during your stay that you would perhaps prefer firmer pillows. If you had we would have accommodated this request. Some of our guests specifically ask for a pillow preference before they arrive.

Your comments are certainly very important to us and our operations.
And although we strive for perfection, we do sometimes make mistakes.

We appreciate the feed back and look forward to your next visit.

Warm Regards,
Sherrie Caruso

We stayed in a ground floor poolside room for 5 relaxing days. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We had dinner one night, lunch twice and breakfast every day. The food was delicious.
