Back to the Pillars for our annual Boat Parade weekend with family and friends. Outstanding as always......but even better this year with the new lounge, wine bar and new room decor. As always, Caroline, Jessica and John took great care of us.

This is an absolutely wonderful boutique hotel. It is charming and peaceful, and the staff is so friendly. Caroline checked us in and gave us a tour. She was the sweetest person and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay. While we were checking in, Lupe took our luggage to our room, and when we tried to tip her she just smiled and shook her head no. We insisted she take the tip, and she was just all smiles. Even when we were lounging by the pool, the gardener, Mary, was just so nice. She started talking to us and called her workplace a paradise--we agree! The Secret Garden Restaurant was top notch and very romantic. We enjoyed sitting by the water and having such wonderful service. It is definitely worth eating there at least one night of your stay. Thank you so much to everyone at The Pillars. We truly had a wonderful stay and hope to get back one day.

We just spent 5 nights at The Pillars and would highly recommend it. The outside is very pretty and the water setting is lovely. It only has 18 rooms and although they had full occupancy, it was very quiet. The rate was reasonable (I checked on the Ritz, Marriott and several other places before booking here) and it is conveniently located to most everything in Fort Lauderdale. In fact, we didn't even use our rental car the first three days of our visit. The first evening and the whole next day, we walked everywhere and then took the sun trolley for dinner that evening to Los Olas Blvd. and rode the water taxi everywhere the following day. There is a private stop for the water taxi, but at night we had to wave them down to get their attention - we probably looked pretty funny waving the lighted cords, but it worked. The inn does have a reputation though - the first time we got off the water taxi the tour guide commented it was a honeymoon spot and the second time it was for millionaires - we're neither of those, but we loved the place anyway! There is free parking, coffee and wifi, which is a savings. Our room was on the small side (think of it as cozy), but nicely decorated. The staff is very helpful, especially Jessica, with suggestions, discount coupons and even upgraded and printed our boarding passes for us before leaving. Although we didn't use the turndown service with chocolates, it's a nice touch. The only meal we had there was breakfast by the waterfront and the french toast with grilled bananas was delicious and delivered promptly. I don't understand the $5 charge, however, to bring your meal outside, since there were tables for dining beside the intercoastal - it's the first time I've ever paid an extra charge to dine al fresco. In addition, there was an 18% gratuity included, which I thought was a Fort Lauderdale custom, but didn't find that anywhere else. Normally, we tip more than that for good service, since I worked in the industry during my summers in college. If it's automatic, I don't leave anything extra because I don't like the practice. The pool was supposed to be heated, but wasn't, just so you know before you arrive. Since it wasn't very warm during our visit, it wasn't much of an issue anyway. Just a couple of minor suggestions (am I a nitpicker?), but we'll definitely be staying here again!

I recently attended a conference at Ft. Lauderdale and my wife and I lodged at the Pillars.
We have stayed several times before at this property and it really gets better and better.
Great rooms, pool, location (two blocks from the beach and a stone's throw from Los Olas), staff, service and attention to detail. The Pillars boasts a new wine bar and dining area. Thumbs way up for both. Caroline (the manager) goes the extra mile to make everyone's stay a wonderful experience. If you visit Ft. Lauderdale take a look at this hidden gem. We are certain that you will not be disappointed. We look forward to our next visit.

We spent six days at The Pillars while on vacation. A wonderful location one block back from the beach and the hustle & bustle of the big hotels. Very secluded and quiet. We reserved the New River Suite which was lovely - newly renovated with living room and bedroom area directly overlooking the water. The best part was the outside seating area with a large dining table as well. More private than most of the rooms outside seating - except for a few other guests who passed through while exploring the property. A great place for breakfast and relaxing throughout the day. Beautiful pool area with the most comfortable chaises. We had dinner in the outside restaurant area twice and its a most romantic location - again directly on the water. All of the staff we encountered were most gracious and helpful - I think at times more staff could be scheduled as they seemed a bit harried especially in the evenings during dinner service - but always went out of their way to provide the best service possible.
