“I loved Tranquilo!”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

What's not to love about this place? The location is phenomenal and it is so cheap! All the big hotels on the main drag charge $300+ per night, and we got our room for $199 at Tranquilo. Split that between 4 adults and it is dirt cheap!

I will admit, the rooms are a touch sterile, but they suited me just fine. It looks like an Ikea show room. Everything is new and very clean. I kind of liked the simplistic, laid back style. The room was VERY big, also, which was great. We didn't make use of the kitchenette, but the fridge did come in handy. One weird thing we noticed is that one of the beds was smaller than the other. The room was supposed to have two queens, but one was a queen and one was a double. It was not a big deal, but it was definitely noticeable as the double bed didn't even fill the bed frame. We thought it was strange, but it didn't really matter to us. The water pressure in the shower left something to be desired, but other than that, I don't have much to complain about.

Tranquilo is 2 blocks from the beach. Literally a five minute walk. Not to mention there are TWO pools at the hotel. There is a standard rectangle pool in the middle of the courtyard (our room opened up right onto this pool, how glorious!), and there is a lagoon style pool at the front of the hotel. We didn't use this pool, but it looked really nice as well. I personally loved the pool in the courtyard.

Staying at Tranquilo was one of the highlights of my trip to Florida. It was clean, close to the beach, and the price was right. I would highly recommend this hotel!

We were afraid that it wouldn't live up to the pictures on the web site, but it was just as advertised. The only fault I could find with this place is that it didn't have a bath fan and its a very small bathroom for a great big hotel room. It was the largest two bedroom hotel room I've ever been in! Tempur-pedic beds were really nice! The pools were perfect temperature and the location was an easy two block walk to the beach if you want to go there! Small efficiency kitchen but it was reasonably stocked. The refrig is at least a full size fridge- there is no stove but who really cares. There was a spotlessly clean propane grill outside that we used one night. We would do this place again in a heartbeat if we weren't bent on being on the beach!

Thanks for mentioning the photos. We actually take our own photos and never manipulate them, like some places do. We want to give our guests an honest portrayal of their home away from home! Thanks so much for your review, we really appreciate it!

We stayed here recently for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a deluxe room which had everything you would need for a comfortable stay and was spotlessly clean. Plenty of sun-loungers around the various pools with pool towels provided free of charge, free parking, free Wi-Fi. The beach is no more than a 5 min walk and there are various places to eat and drink a bit further to walk. The hotel as a clean fresh feel to it and very friendly staff, special mention to Amanda.

My family which included myself, my husband and two young boys stayed at the Tranquilo for three nights as a stop over between Denver and St. John. If this had been my entire vacation I think I would have been disappointed but since it was just a stop over to break up a long trip it was quite adequate.

The Cons: Our room 101 (I believe) was in the building across the street from the main Tranquilo buildings where the office was. I think these rooms were the least updated and there were definitely some areas that could have used some attention. There were bowls of food left in the refrigerator from the prior guests (eeww), the paint was chipping off the bathtub, there were gauges in some of the drywall etc. The walls are completely devoid of decorations but it does add to the clean modern feel. We visited another room at the CocoBelle (also owned by this hotel group) and it was much less sterile feeling and also seemed cleaner. The cleaning staff was friendly and did an okay job but didn't do some of the detail stuff like mop the floor or wipe down counter tops in the kitchen (and there weren't any rags or sponges for us to do so ourselves).

The Pros: It is close to the beach - you can see if from the pool!
It is at a quieter end of the Ft. Lauderdale beach scene which is great if you are traveling with children or don't want to be right in the party.
Going to the pools at the other North Beach Village hotels was a fun afternoon adventure. The Winterset was a favorite as it had a hot tub with water feature.
The staff was pleasant even when I checked in very late at night.
The price was great for the location.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay just don't expect anything fancy.

Tranquilo consists of 3 small buildings, each with their own pool, lounge furniture, outdoor dining furniture, and grill. The rooms were of adequate size and the eat-in kitchen for four included everything you needed to prepare a meal. The bathroom has some new items (sink, toilet) along with updated original items from the 1950's. Furnishings are clean & crisp, mostly from Ikea. You can easily walk the 3 blocks to the ocean and this is towards the quieter side of Ft. Lauderdale Boulevard, which we liked. Los Olas Drive (section where the restaurants/shops are) is not close enough to walk to, but we had a car. Parking was FREE and there is NO RESORT FEE! Those 2 items alone save you a lot of money so that was really great.

Room Tip: Room 200 is oceanview, with a clear visual path down to the ocean even 3 blocks away.

The staff at Tranquilo have mastered the art of customer service etiquette.Their politeness, attention to detail and accommodating nature added to the satisfaction of our recent stay. While our room wasn't ready upon arrival, one was quickly made available when the staff were reminded that an early check in had been requested. The guest orientation was thorough and helpful. A nearby demolition project didn't have any negative consequence during our visit. Accessibility to our ground floor Deluxe Studio room was effortless. Two comfortable queen beds and an abundantly spacious room with full kitchen and two nicely situated televsion sets were desirable aspects. But negatives were also apparent, the most obvious of which was a tiny bathroom sink with inadequate surface space for even the most basic sundries. The lack of a full length mirror anywhere in the room was also a drawback. The dingy stained floor and shag rugs could easily be overlooked because of the general pleasantness of the room. The spotty WiFi reception in the room was. however, a legitimate gripe.
The pools were excellent and never overcrowded and there were plenty of very well appointed areas for relaxing and taking in the sun. This made the visitors content.
On balance, it was an enjoyable enough stay

Room Tip: The hotel is situated a few minutes walk west of the Fort Lauderdale Beach. The hotel is within easy...
