We spent a week at Coconut Bay Resort and really enjoyed it. The location is perfect, very close to the beach, Galleria mall, Sunrise Blvd, water taxi, etc. but set back enough to be quiet and private. The pool area, is centrally located and is a great gathering place. Lots of people come back year after year and enjoy reconnecting with holiday friends.
The staff are amazing. The place is immaculate. BBQ grills are cleaned daily, rooms are sparkling clean, the grounds maintained, trash removed, towels replaced.... All staff are polite and gracious. The layout of our room was very functional. (We had a unique room with a walk out to the pool). Bright, large, and nice furniture. The kitchen was tucked in and a bit dark (no window), but well equipped. We could whip up casual meals and eat them in the bright dining room or by the pool.
Since I headed to the beach, on average, 3 times per day, the proximity was perfect. We will be back next year.

Room Tip: The three story building has an elevator. If you are in the two story end you need to have a ground...

Coconut Bay Resort is just off the Intracoastal Waterway and has its own water inlet and fishing/boat moorage. As it is just a 2 storey building it is rather overshadowed by its much taller neighbours so the views are not spectacular, although all bedrooms have fly-neted covered lanasi that look out onto the waterway. The corridor outside the door just faces the car park, which has plenty of space for all. The pool is good, with varied seating areas, plenty of shade if required and pool beds, all set in well tended gardens.

Checking in was very quick, we arrived early and were able to go straight to the apartment. Must mention Nixa on the Front Desk, who was very friendly and helpful, telling us all we needed to know. When checking out we did notice another problem - at checking out time all the luggage trolleys were being used by the staff which meant we had to carry our own luggage to the lift and out to the car park. Surely the staff have enough time after check-out time to use the trolleys? After all, the bedding and towels they were loading them with were not going anywhere for the sake of waiting an extra hour!

The living room is large with very comfortable chairs and sofas and good furniture. There is a separate kitchen, well equipped with electrical gadgets, pots, pans, cutlery etc. Narrow but functional. There is a separate wash basin and toilet in the corridor, and a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom then the already mentioned netted lanai facing the water. There was lots and lots of storage space - probably plenty even if it was your main home.

We would have given 4 stars for the hotel but for a few of issues - under the bed we found an empty water bottle, 25 and 5 cent coins, a price tag and quite a lot of dust. We had a constantly running toilet in the bathroom and the cover of the air conditioner control was broken, and fell off. We reported all these after the first night and only the air conditioner control was fixed during our stay. We were tempted to make more fuss about the dust but as it was a tiled floor we could at least see that there weren't any nasties lurking in the dust!! Not very impressive though.

The Coconut Bay is a couple of blocks from the beach but there are shops, bars and restaurants along the way. There is a large Galleria shopping mall and a Publix supermarket a few minutes by car away. A trolley bus runs along the cost road so it is easy to get around if you don't want to drive.

We enjoyed our stay in spite of the dust but would probably stay elsewhere if visiting Fort Lauderdale again.

Room Tip: Doh't get one by the stairwell - those rooms are very dark, need the curtains closed for privacy...

Near by are grocery stores, restaurants and a liquor store; a within one block. our room was clean and well appointed It would have been nice to have a washer and dryer in the room, but on whole everything was lovely. We stayed at this resort for three nights before our cruise in November 2013.
Room was clean, well stocked kitchen and staff were friendly.
Hotel has a nice pool and hot tub, great location to shopping restaurants and only a block from the ocean.

This place was really nice. We had to check in late and they were very flexible with our schedule. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The pool was really nice and our porch looked out right on the Intercoastal Waterway. I would love to come back to this location and would recommend it to anyone!!

Not a place to go relax and have some fun:
On site there is a small hot tub and pool that homeless were coming into taking their weekly bath. The pictures were not of units we were offered. Think Bates Hotel for the showers- The AC sounded like a jet plane- Office is no help for anything only opens from 9am- 5pm sharp. If you need anything you have to wait. No nice dinner / cocktail places within walking distance so you have to pay the meter to get into the "happening" area.. Oh but there is a 7 Eleven across the parking lot if your hungry
We traded with RCI 2- 3 bedroom crown units for 2- 1 bedrooms units here to have some fun with children and our 4 year old granddaughter

Room Tip: Don't choose here
