Ok, this was the nicest and most expensive hotel that we have ever stayed at on vacation. After checking in at 1 am, I was so exhausted and didn't want to argue. Beware and beware some more!!! The Ritz tries to charge $200 per night for "incidentals"!!! After expressing that I was going to pay cash for everything, the woman at the front desk dropped it a little bit but definitely not enough. I'm almost positive that it isn't posted on the website but I could of missed it. I understand that the hotel is very expensive and most people that stay there have a lot of money, but being hit with that without knowing at check in wasn't right at all. I didn't want to find out what would of happened if I didn't agree so I caved in a paid what was asked.
Our entire stay was close to perfect, the beds being turned down at night and my daughters stuffed animals being put in bed were great.(even though on our last night our beds weren't turned down). Housekeeping could of been a little better, when we first got to the room, I noticed a few crumbs next to the closet and they were there the whole time and never cleaned up.( I left them there on purpose)A hotel that is so expensive the floors should be cleaned everyday especially before check in. A definite plus was the toilet paper being folded.
On top of everything the service was perfect. Austin at the pool was the best!
Room walls were thin, my wife actually heard the old couple next door enjoying each other, thank GOODness it only lasted like 2 minutes.

Room Tip: Definitely choose a room facing the ocean.

We just stayed there for one night while we were catching our cruise. I only wish that we had stayed there longer. The service and the room were superb and we stayed on the top floor and had a full ocean view from the balcony. We took a two bedroom suite as we were a part of 5. One room had a beautiful kings size bed and there were 2 queen size beds in the other room

Room Tip: Take the ocean room it is well worth it

One year later and our second visit and overall extremely impressed with the high standards still maintained.

We enjoyed a 9 night stay in a one bedroom suite sea-facing on the 14th floor. The bedroom is very spacious and enjoys one of the most comfortable beds ever! The bathroom is well sized and intelligently laid out. The soaking tub has a unique angled back and makes for a great time of relaxation. We made good use of the twin basins with large vanity counter space. Huge walk-in shower with rain forest shower head and hand held shower head and separate loo! Nice touch in the bathroom is a well sized wall mounted TV which we used more than we thought we would. The lighting in the bathroom is worth a mention with dimmer switches to create the appropriate mood for relaxation.

The suite had a separate lounge area which was adequate for gathering with our friends of around 6 people! This area also had a half bathroom. The suite enjoyed a large balcony which could be accessed from the lounge and bedroom. The sunrise early morning is just gorgeous!!

We were with a group of around 20 executives for a small conference and we all agreed this event was one of the best in the 25 years we have been gathering. During our stay we were in and out of our colleagues rooms and were able to get a good look at various room categories such as a one bedroom residential suite, a junior suite, a deluxe intra-coastal room, a deluxe partial sea-view room and truth be told there are no bad rooms in the hotel but it is important to know your preference in order to get the room that best suits you! For example if you want to be on the pool level directly the rooms on the 7th floor have a larger patio and lead straight on to the pool deck - this could be great if this is your thing. If you like outside entertainment certain rooms sea facing on the 8th floor have colossal balconies where you could easily entertain 20 people. The views on the intra-coastal side are uniquely pretty and of course ocean views speak for themselves.

The Spa is a tranquil retreat with separate men’s and ladies lounges complete with light spa refreshments. The ladies dressing rooms are quite large and well laid out with lockers and a number of private shower/change areas and a great supply of ladies toiletries. A number of the ladies in our group enjoyed spa services and all enjoyed their treatments. A special mention of Sonia is in order as she is one of the therapists who performed a number of treatments for our ladies and all enjoyed her immensely. She is friendly, discreet and made you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the treatment - a great therapist!!

Kudos to the staff with a special shout out to Monica who is our primary contact and kept a close eye on our event from beginning to end. Thanks to Natasha and Scinetra whose contribution helped make the event such a great success. Well done to the Front Office Manager, Kevin and team who provided a continuous stream of top notch front line service. The Concierge Desk is manned for 12 hours each day from 10 am and between Jan and John you will find every answer to every question you could ever think of asking about absolutely anything to do with anything about anything!! Truly extraordinarily helpful, courteous and quite a touch of class about their specialized service!! And finally, we can forget the boss, a special thanks to the Director of Operations, John who manages the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Ritz Carlton with savoir faire!!

Bottom line, I've stayed at a lot better for a lot less. This hotel isn't keeping the same standard as other Ritz Carltons and if it is, they have all gone down hill. I'll list my pros and cons below.

Pros: Great location directly across from Ft. Lauderdale Beach. The beach chairs and beach service were great. The bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly. The bathroom was spacious and nice. Lisa at the spa for a massage was great!

Cons: I've seen better maintenance of a hotel at a Hampton Inn. The furniture and walls are worn down, dirty and all scuffed up. Both clocks in the room were wrong. I called and asked them to fix the clocks. One they said could not be fixed because it was part of the phone and wired to the rest of "Ritz Carlton" time. Apparently, "Ritz Carlton" runs 10 minutes behind the rest of the eastern time zone. The other clock needed a battery. They took the clock and said they would come back, but never did. The drinking glasses in the room were all different sizes. This is an anal observance, I know, but when you pay this much for a hotel, you expect things to be pretty darn close to perfect. The room itself was rather small, but the bathroom was large. The pool are was packed and there isn't much lounging room. It is cluttered to say the least. The first day the service at the pool was not good, the second day the service was great. The drinks at the bar were ok, nothing to write home about, especially for $15 a drink.

Bottom line - I won't stay here again for the prices they charge. It just isn't worth it. I can save at least $100 a night and get the same or better quality.

It was an excellent stay. Everything was great and we did rest. Service was great, breakfast wonderful. We were able to read contemplating the blue sea. The swimming pool also offer views. If you can afford, go for it.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are stunning.

Stayed here over a trip to South Florida on our way to Coral Gables. The hotel is stunning and the rooms magnificent. The ONLY rub is that the entrance was a bit of a challenge to find but once inside, as oasis. Highly recommend.

Each year my charity holds a Prom for kids with cancer at the Ritz in Fort Lauderdale. We stay every year and it is always a perfect stay:) From valet, to check in, and room it is a very relaxing stay. The pool is a little slippery on the deck, saw several people actually fall:(
