Great Hotel with warm welcome. Fantastic location, adequate, modern rooms, missing the tub, some of them though. I liked the location, breathtaking views from the living room terrace and Whiskey Bar is definetely a happening place. Everyone on the staf is well trained and very cordial. Bit too formal but happy and smiling. Definetely kind of a South Beach feeling.

My husband and I stayed at the W in Ft. Lauderdale from Dec. 18th-23rd. I can safely say that this was one of the best overall "experiences" I've ever had at any hotel.

Once we exited our cab, we were immediately greeted by 2 friendly and upbeat gentleman who assisted us with our luggage to the living room (check-in area). There we met Jonathan who was amazing. Jonathan was pleasant, jovial, and explained the layout of the hotel and all the ammenities offered. Check-in was a breeze, and set the tone for a phenomenal stay.

We had the priviledge of staying in one of their fabulous flats. It included 2 bathrooms, a sitting area, dining room, open-concept living room, full kitchen and king bedroom. We also had a balcony with views of the Atlantic. Simply incredible. Every need was attended to during our stay. The entire staff is friendly and professional. We also took advantage of their Acura Experience promotion which offers free rides to any destination within a 5-mile radius of the hotel.

For an amazing shopping experience, please consider the 20-25 minute drive to the Sawgrass Mills outlet mall. A massive place with tons of stores. Give it an entire day. For a quality meal, try Casablanca Cafe...a 10 minute walk from the W hotel. Excellent food at reasonable prices, right across from the beach.

There are not enough superlatives to describe our visit. We will definitely be staying at more W Hotels when we travel. Thank you W!

Everything about the hotel was great! We did get a nice deal on priceline for the hotel. We stayed post-cruise for one night. I just wish we could have checked in early because we were off the ship early. We had to wait around for 3.5 hours even though they said we would be able to get into the room early it was only a half hour before check-in.

We decided to change our hotel from the Westin to W for the second leg of our Fort Lauderdale trip post cruise this time and were pleasantly surprised. I have never stayed at a W even though being a Starwood Platinum member as I felt from what i had heard/read about the brand it was a bit too brash, but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff couldn't have been more helpful (at times perhaps a bit too helpful but that can't really be a bad thing) and as platinum Starwood members we were look after very well. The hotel is very large with nice common areas and 2 great pools. Another thing that put us off was the noise of the weekend pool parties, but that weekend there wasn't one even though the main pool was packed, but there was a back up and in my opinion even nicer pool that we almost had to ourselves. We will definitely use this hotel again on our next visit to Fort Lauderdale and are looking forward to trying the W Miami as well.
Rooms are cleverly designed and all have some sort of view, bathrooms very modern. We were luckily upgraded to one of the flats due to our platinum status but did initially view the basic rooms and they looked fine. Nice Bliss products too. Didn't have time to try the Steakhouse but will do so on our next stay and it did seem busy all the time.

We arrived by taxi on a Saturday night around 10:30. The driveway entrance was jammed with cars of people arriving to hang out in the disco/bar. Not a bellman in sight to assist with all our luggage. We had to muscle our heavy bags through the heavy doors, (auto-opening doors would have helped but this property doesn't have this feature), to enter a nondescript elevator landing, and then up to the reception area on the fourth floor.
The "Living Room" beyond the front desk was filled with throngs of people and the DJ music was turned up full blast. It's obvious this is a very popular local hangout for the club scene.
Our room was very small, but clean. The beds were very comfortable. Even though we advised them this was our anniversary and had requested a King bed, we got two doubles. Also, our room was one of 10 in the entire property without a balcony. Definitely no wow factor. We stayed at the St Regis in San Francisco, a property that's a close cousin to the W, so perhaps that's why we were so disappointed in this hotel. It just doesn't come close. The only thing 4 star about the W is the high prices.
Making our way downstairs for a drink at the bar, we managed to find a place out of the crowds and full blast music (I kid you not, it was deafeningly loud), by the fire pit out on the terrace and waited for our server....and waited.....and waited. There were people all around us with empty glasses, so my husband wrestled his way back in to the bar area to try and get some service. Finding a server was not a problem since they were all standing around together doing nothing at all but looking pretty and chatting amongst themselves. Getting one to come out and take our order took some persuading, but eventually, someone came out and finally brought us something to drink.
The pool area is very nice, and the Living Room during the day is also a very nice area. Complementary fresh fruit and coffee is available, as well as wi-fi.
We didn't dislike this hotel, it just left us kind of underwhelmed. For the money, there are lots of other places to choose from. It is a very trendy place, and does attract locals who come on the weekend for the nightclub. However, we came to stay as hotel guests, so I think we would have been better disposed to appreciate this hotel if we had been given the room we requested and if they offered a quiet place for hotel guests who just wanted to get a drink and did not come for the club scene. As it was, the combination of poor service along with the inadequate room left us feeling kind of flat since we had expected much better from a property of this caliber.

We stayed just 1 night for a pre-cruise convenience and so glad we chose the W. It was just beautiful and the front desk personnel was so nice and made sure we felt welcome. The room, although a tiny bit small, was gorgeous. The terrace outside the Living Room was a wonderful place to have morning coffee and a great view of the ocean. Can't wait to go back!

Spent one night at this beautiful hotel and I was very impressed --felt like our vacation started a day early and the proximity of the beach and many restaurants was an added bonus since we didn't have a car.
Rack rate is expensive but if you can get a deal through Priceline or Hotwire then this hotel is an outstanding place to stay.
