“Adequate and Convenient”
Reviewed 1 February 2011

My wife and I have stayed overnight at the Best Western Oceanside on four occasions, in conjunction with cruises. We like to arrive a day prior to sailing and spend a quiet evening on the beach before embarkation. We find this motel adequate and convenient for that purpose.

The facility is not actually on the beach, but exit the front entrance, turn right on the pavement, walk 100 yards and turn right again, and you're there. The facility is clean and well-maintained. The desk staff are friendly and responsive. We have found it to be quiet, even when fully occupied. Wi-fi worked well, but you'll have to obtain log-in codes from the desk. Prices vary widely, depending on the season. The free breakfast buffet is quite nice, with a good selection of both hot and cold items.
It's not the best hotel bargain we've encountered , but it's reasonable for its location. We'll probably stay there again.

I stayed at this hotel for a week in Jan 2010 and have just returned from another week's stay. This is all im going to say....

1) Cleaning staff: When you are doing your rounds in the morning, try not to scream and shout at each other as if you are both deaf, this is a hotel and there are guests sleeping - WE ARE ON HOLIDAY!!!

2) Free internet: Unless you are sitting around the pool or in the bar, forget it, there is no signal and it frequently cuts out, absolutely useless.

3) Free breakfast: This is good, everything you need.

4) Dont book a room with a balcony, you will end up with the worst side view of the Sheraton next door, its like looking onto a prison and the room is dark and dreary. Just ask for a pool facing room, or like I had last year one that overlooks the rear (onto the Sheraton's pool)

Overall, a good location, right on the beach and an easy 5/10 minute walk to bars and restaurants and the water taxi is just across the road.

This hotel is true value. Located right at the Ft Lauderdale Beach, you're just steps away from walking on the sand (literally!). And it costs half of what many of the hotels along the beach are charging. They have a bar, pool, and breakfast area. They also have covered parking. The bar was a great place to stop for a drink before going out to dinner or stop for a drink after a day of walking on the beach. It's an easy walk down the street to restaurants and bars located across the street from Ft Lauderdale Beach. They have a free breakfast which provides practically everything you would want in a very comfortable breakfast area. We stayed two nights prior to our cruise - it's just a 10 minute drive to the cruise port. We already have reservations to stay again in February 2011.

Due to advice received on this site, I booked this hotel for 9 nights. Our room faced the pool (great advice) and was clean. We experienced some small ant-like bugs on our snacks we left out overnight, so use the mini fridge for all food. The entire staff was very accommodating, especially the bartender on evening shift. He made everyone feel welcome, and the food in the bar was healthy and delicious. The bar offered salads and delicious sandwiches, as well as typical bar food, nachos and wings. We tried it all, and were very satisfied. Drinks were perfect! The complimentary breakfast offered hot items as well as cold, with fruit salad, fresh fruit, yogurt, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, muffins, bagels, etc, every day. The pool was heated and clean. Beds were extremely comfy. Internet in the room was a little slow, but the one computer in the lobby was fast, and rarely occupied. Brand name toiletries were supplied each day. It was great for the price!

This was our first trip to Fort Lauderdale, consisting of three days exploring the city followed by a seven day cruise over Christmas. We selected this hotel based on a number of good reviews, indicating that this hotel was good value for the money and that the location was very good.
Well, from the moment you enter the lobby, the only word that adequately describes this hotel is "seedy", and once you wander down the hallway to your room, you'll find that this word is very kind. The hallways and the rooms smell, the rooms are tired and not very clean ( we found a large full ashtray of butts on our balcony) and you feel like you are down on your luck in the inner city.
I guess it depends on how the traveller reacts to a hotel like this....I am sure that for some it is simply an economical place to lay your head. For us, though, we are on vacation, and to have stayed at this hotel for three nights would have somehow spoiled it for us.
There are a number of nicer hotels in the area....we ended up at the Sheraton nearby for a few dollars more and had a lovelly time. When you compare the two hotels and their rates, I have to say that the Best Western is overcharging for this hotel.
On the plus side, we wandered through the breakfast room, and the free breakfast looked very good. Also, when we complained to the staff after the first night, they were very apologetic, and refunded our entire stay, which we very much appreciated.

My husband and I picked Best Western for it's location and reviews....
We wanted to spend Christmas in Fl. and New Years on our cruise....But once we got to our room, we were greatly surprised.... it looked entirely different than what we saw on the Internet..... the bedding looked the same, but everything else was a shocker.... the rug was filthy with dark stains all over it... u could tell, they hadn't cleaned it for a long time..... the bathroom floor wasn't mopped, but we thought it would be during our stay, which was 4 days... we saw small bugs in the room....
We requested a room by the poolside and I guess they thought they had given us one... LOL.... but we were overlooking the roof and had to look over a rail to see the pool.....our room was at the end of the hallway right next to the ice maker.... so u can imagine the traffic..... children were running up and down the hallway playing.... children are children, but parents should have control over that....... the elevators were slow.... one at each end of the hall.... most of us walked up and down the stairs to get to where we were going.... I didn't mind so much as it was a form of exercise for me.... but it would have been nicer to ride up and walk down only..... the safe in the room was broken... couldn't use that..... and the only time u could eat in the hotel was at breakfast........ They always had a nice breakfast waiting from 7 til 10:30...... parking isn't free... it's 10.00 plus tax a day.....
The hotel is very old ... if you're expecting something new and modern... this is not the hotel for u... and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and we won't be coming back...
What I liked most about the hotel is the location ..... near the beach.... cafes and shopping.....

The hotel is very close to the beach, and a very short walk to stores and restaurants. The city bus and trolley stop right at the corner of the hotel. You need exact change for the bus though. Employees are helpful and polite. We had a problem with the A/C heater unit but was solved promptly. The tv remote can be better, the thing that bothered me was that the internet connection was very slow. I really want them to fix the wi-fi if they want me back.
