“A HORRIBLE HOTEL.............. IN A GREAT LOCATION”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2008

Early check in they want 40 dollars to check into your room is an insult and they know it....they will waive it if you get a manger....they will make you pay for parking if you check in early as well.....they will give that back to you if you find a manager....the rooms are dirty.....they will bring clean sheets if you find a manger...the rugs are disgusting and the bathrooms are barely clean........when you are not llooking for the manager .......you can enjoy the wild pool mostly filled with kids....the outside bar is nice but they understaff the bartenders....onthe fourth of July mind you as they guess that people wouldn't be on the beach for the holiday I guess? ....so getting a drink is tough....so basically ....you check in ...get ripped off...get a dirty room....then can't get a drink to forget all the trouble....so go across the street to Publix get some beer....do not go the liquor store in that plaza...all bottles are 10-15 dollars over priced.....stay way...go to Publix for food and beer...the restaurant was also understaffed....don't go there either......DO go down the street to the Village Pump bar....awesome place with great beer and Boston memorabilia everywhere.....nice owners.....get drunk and have fun....the hotel is not good but we had a good time.....when were not looking for George the manager......

Where to start, we walked into the place and immediately it felt muggy inside, almost like stale air. Got our room key and went up but it didn't work. Had to go back down and up 3 times before they finally gave us a working one. Got into our room and the air conditioner was broken. Not only that but we had reserved a room with two double beds, and they gave us a room with 1 double bed saying the others were full. There were three people, no way were we going to fit into a double. We were deciding what to do and one of the girls started feeling faint while my throat started tightening up and hurting. The first thing I thought was mold. There was absolutely no way we were going to stay there after feeling ill in the room for the first 10 minutes on top of not having the correct number of beds and the air conditioning not working. We ended up leaving which really messed up our plans. You couldn't make me go back to this place even for free!

After reading recent reviews, we were nervous about staying, but everything was good. We stayed in main building, everything was remodeled, room was totally remodeled, clean. Staff very polite and friendly. Pool and bar very nice, not too crowded most of the time. Beach wonderful. Everything you need right across the street - grocery store, pharmacy, liquor store. Nice restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Would stay there again.

First of all, the hotel's description and pictures are misleading. We assumed that being in the Beach House, it would be like a little hut or something since the images lead us to believe this. Nope, turned out to be the cabana next door. When we arrived, our reservation had not been confirmed by Travelocity and Travelocity made us pay the upgrade fee. Not sure why. Another couple had the same issues. The room wasn't that great: an old bed, a faucet that broke, no water pressure, each day we were given less towels, not a real balcony. The hotel decided to test the fire alarms at 9:30PM on a Sat. night and they went off again at 5:30AM on Sunday morning!!! The staff was very rude. The best part of the whole place was the ocean being like 20 ft. away!

  • Liked — the ocean was right there
  • Disliked — It's still standing. . . not sure how with the construction going on. The staff, rooms, water pressure, yada yada yada

Just back from a 4 nite stay in a 5th floor oceanfront room. Everything in the room was very clean; the sheets were clean. The maid service was very prompt. The balcony had room for 2 chairs, however the a/c unit comes thru the wall onto the balcony - as it does in most motels with in-room units - and the hot exhaust air did not make for a pleasant sitting experience. I did notice that the rooms facing the pool had no room for chairs even on the balcony - it was just a step out.

The lobby of the main building has been renovated and looks very nice. I don't know about the condition of the rooms there. The beachfront building lobby and hallways ABSOLUTELY need a facelift. The carpets are stained, making it look very shabby.

The price for an oceanfront room with a balcony cannot be beat. If this hotel was on the New Jersey shore, it would could easily charge 2x the price.

We ate at Damon's for dinner and enjoyed it. The food was good and the service was fine. We did not have a long wait for our meals.

If you are looking for a low key beach vacation, this is a good place to visit.

Stayed four nights with husband and two kids. After reading reviews I was a little nervous, but it was OK. If your looking for fancy this isn't the place, if your looking for a cheap room on the beach this is the place. We spent most of our time on the nice big beach outside our oceanfront room. Yes its an older hotel, yes its a little dated, front desk was attentive with any problem that arose. Staff seemed pleasant enough, did see the grumpy maintenance man at the pool and steered clear, he was giving another guest a hard time about using the deck chairs he was trying to cover up before impending rain (never did rain).

Bad part, booked directly with hotel with request for non-smoking, oceanfront, two queens. Called and confirmed twice just to make sure they got it right, however, received a King bed the first night on a smoking floor (that room was smelly) They did take a few bucks off for that night but in my opinion should have taken the whole night off. They did bring a cot for one of the kids (after calling twice) They did have a room the next day with my request. Also, come the weekend it seems as if locals use the pool and parking on a regular basis so be prepared to share. Didn't eat at the Damons. There's a diner, chinese, CVS and a publix across the street which is a great convenience.

After ready the reviews I was a bit nervous to stay, but everything was just fine. The hotel is going through some renovations right now so there is a little clutter in the lobby or halls, nothing that will bother the guests though. The room was clean and we had no bugs or mold like previous posts. The air conditioner worked, the TV worked the safe worked and the locks on the doors were bolted on. The location is great, the beach was wonderful so I really cannot give this a bad review at all.
The only con I have to say is that they were alot of LOCALS that would come to the hotel and use the pool, therefore taking up the chairs for paying guests.

  • Liked — Location beach and grocery store
  • Disliked — Locals at the Pool
