Embassy Suites by Hilton Fort Lauderdale 17th Street

We booked into this hotel as we were driving down from the first part of our holiday in Orlando, to Fort Lauderdale to meet our cruise on the Allure of the Seas. We thought a two Night stay would allow us to shake Mickey mouse out of our minds and concentrate on getting in the right mentality for the relaxation that was about to ensue. What a great place to do this! Not far from Miami airport (our chosen airport for departure back to the UK), The Embassy suites welcomed us with smiles and a real charm that made us feel relaxed from the moment me parked the car. Checking in was equally pleasant and efficient, and when we arrived at the room, we were equally surprised at the size of the accommodation and the facilities, and the distant view of the port. Don't expect the view to be one of paradise, this is a cruise terminal area, so there will be lots of buildings of a commercial nature to help facilitate this, but it is not an unpleasant experience. Inside the hotel, guests are catered for with excellent food and drinks, and every night there is a 'managers reception' where you can get complementary drinks (usually leave a buck tip). The food is of good variety, quality and cost, but if you want to venture out, there are lots of restaurants, bars shops etc very nearby.
When I go to cruise out of for Lauderdale again. I will definitely be booking in here again.

This is the 3rd or 4th stay here precruise. Needed 3 rooms, love the convenient location. Cocktails and breakfast not the best but still a good precruise choice near Publix, Total Wine and the port. Pretty crowded though and the bathroom is old. Real sourpuss at the front desk. Facing 17th St is NOISY! Used a cab to get to the port.

Room Tip: Don;t face 17th street!

We were, like so many others, cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday. We arrived on Friday before check-in, but early check-in was not available. We were allowed to store our luggage with the valet. This hotel was very busy, several business meetings were taking place, and lots of people bustling about. We ate and sat outside at their pool. It is pretty large, and has a lot of seating areas, so that is good. Several umbrellas too. The pool itself did not appear to be cleaned each morning, but it was not disgusting, just could have been netted out a little better. However, we saw many times, maintenance sweeping up around the pool area. There was a hot tub and sauna too, but we did not use them. We became aware of the hot tub totally altering the color of one little girl's suit, and kind of decided to stay out of it.

I think the rooms are all relatively similar, and they were great! One bathroom, but all-in-all, spacious with 2 full/queen beds, and a sofa bed in a separate living room area. There was a separate mirror area with outlets so 3 girls could get ready outside of the bathroom - made it very efficient. View from the room was terrible; we were on the side that looked like we were looking out a window in NYC...but all in all, it was a good, solid choice for 2 nights, pre-cruise.

Hotel Pros: extra elevators to accommodate large numbers of guests, small business center, small gift shop, free happy hour with limited drink selection and chips, popcorn, etc. to nibble on, free hot breakfast, and call the hotel for shuttle from the airport - $7/person.

Within walking distance: grocery store, bars, sushi, the marina, CVS & Walgreens, Batteries Plus (good for oops, I forgot my charger, etc.)

My family had the time of our lives at the Embassy Ft. Lauderdale, the pool area is great with waterfall and fish pond area for us to feed them. Restaurants are close by, sports bar around the corner, the best clam chowder and fish right near by "walking distance". Watching the cruise ships leave port from the 12th floor balcony was pretty cool for the kids.

Kudo's to hotel and staff for making this a memerable family experience!!!

Stayed two nights prior to cruise. Arrived around 1:30pm and our room was ready for us. Was very nice, clean hotel with a great swimming pool and outside patio area. It was a great start to our vacation with the warm tropical feel by the pool and indoor atrium. Very clean and comfortable place to stay, we had a great view of the the cruise port from our balcony. The complimentary breakfast is the best with made to order omelets . Happy hour wasn't the best but that was because the regular spot was closed and it was in a smaller crowded place. It is in a very good, safe location, within walking distance to a strip mall with restaurants and grocery store. We walked an easy mile to catch the water taxi from the hotel. Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Fort Lauderdale area, even though it is not on the beach the yellow trolley has a pick up across the street and cost 50 cents to ride each way to the beach or $2.00 to ride all day on and off at any stop. Can't go wrong with an Embassy Suite.

Room Tip: Our room had a great view of the port and the big cruise ships that were docked at the time we were...

Stayed here March 2-4, pre-cruise! We chose Embassy Suites essentially because we had 2 families in our group and they needed a suite hotel. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. The hallway overlooks an atrium that gives a nice tropical feel for those of us arriving from snowy Canada. The complimentary breakfast is plentiful, with both hot and cold offerings and even an omelette station. There are sometimes line-ups, but it is also quiet early on.

We had called about 4 weeks prior to our stay to ask for a room away from 17th street (noisy) and a room higher up (again, also to reduce noise). We were offered a cruise port view by the telephone attendant and, obviously we took it (I was under the impression that they were more expensive, but maybe they assign them as available). We were given a room looking east (port is south east, so both south and east facing rooms overlook the port) on the 11th floor and we watched the ships come in early on both March 3rd and 4th.

The hotel is ideally located, within walking distance of multiple restaurants and the waterways. My only comment is that it might be a little pricey if you don't need a suite. If travelling with a group where suites are needed, then this is the place. A quick tip, you'll be given a much better rate if you sign up for the Hilton Honours program (program is absolutely free).

Room Tip: Call ahead and ask for room overlooking the port. Rooms on lower floors and on 17th Street are appar...

Stayed here the night before our cruise. Had a nice stay. Checked in around 1pm and they had a room ready for us. Ate lunch in their cafe by the pool. Very nice and good food. Ate dinner across the street at an Outback Steakhouse. Our room was very nice. King bed was comfortable and we faced the front. Had a balcony without any chairs on it, but was nice to step outside to look around. Was going to take a cab in the morning to the pier but ended up going on the shuttle. $7.00 a person. I think it was better than a cab ride. We left at about 10:30am. If we happen to come back this way again we will stay at this Embassy suites. Its a really nice place to stay. Wish we had more time there. Their breakfast buffet was very good as well as the managers reception the evening before.
