“Wedding group”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

From the moment I contacted the hotel, Joel was fantastic. He accommodated every need our group of 35 had including receiving shipments for our wedding. The hotel has had a 1 million dollar reservation and there is not a bad room in the whole hotel. Great $6 breakfast in the morning and the pool is very tranquil! Thanks Joel for making it a success!!!

The staff is nice. The rooms are huge! I think they deserve a better star rating! Pool is clean. There is a great restaurant/bar in hotel. This place is a great for families on a budget! Ask for Maritxa, she's a sweet heart and she will take care of you!

I was in Fort Lauderdale over a 3-day weekend and chose Universal Palms Hotel. My criteria was to get the best price with rhe most amenities included. This Hotel ddi not disapoint. Nice pool, gym, and bar on premises. It also has meeting and banquet rooms that I will be considering for next years annual function. The staff made sure I was comfortable.

Room Tip: Try the Hotel bar. Resonable price, good wings..

My wife and I stayed at the Universal Palms Hotel for 3 nights in November 2013 on business / pleasure and there was much to be pleased about. We were first suprised at how the extraordinary interior surpassed a somewhat ordinary exterior. We were greeted at the front desk by a lovely and accommating professional named Monica. We were upgraded to a poolside room which provided a nice view of the tropical courtyard. The rooms were clean and the employees went out of their way to accomodate. We attended a Holiday Party in the Banquet Room that was hosted and overseen by a wonderful white haired gentleman by the name of Joel. The event went off without a hitch. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I will return and I highly recommend.

Room Tip: request poolside if available

Great price and great photo's in the coupon book... Booked two nights with nice and friendly Staff ... Rooms we're renovated, yes... But they did forgot some spots to make it look real clean... Dirty hallways... The moste worse was the loud Amtrack (train) horn at least once an hour ... during the night... Did not really sleep at all. When next morning some small bugs (or a sort mini- flies?) kept crawling over my laptop and other places we had enough. So we went down and told we wanted to leave. Got our money back and the Manager even did give back our fiirst night stay ! Really appreciated that ! "We can't help train horns" was an answer. That's right, but you might want to warn people about it somehow. We in Europe are not used to trainhorns when they enter an intersection... Guess also many Americans are not able to sleep through that noise either... Sorry, could be a great hotel ... but to us it bacame a bummer.

Room Tip: Affraid we can not help with that, in the back there's the train, in the front a busy street...

We booked this hotel because the price was good and we were only staying for one night before we took a cruise the next day. The property was fairly nice but the room not so much. First, after checking in we went to our room which was on the 5th floor about as far away from the lobby as we could get and our key would not open the door to our room. I had to walk all the way back to the front desk to get a new key and for some reason they gave us a different room which was close to the first room. The new room was ok as rooms go, except the air conditioner unit was leaking water and the carpet on the one side of the bed near the window was soaking wet. It looked like the unit had been leaking for some time because there were water stains on the baseboard and the wall next to the AC unit. Probably growing mold. Also the remote control for the tv did not work. On the bright side the swimming pool area was very nice looking but we were not there long enough to use the pool. There is a small pub near the lobby at the hotel that we visited which was nice and the bartender was very nice, We were going to order some food but we arrived to late that evening so the grill had already closed. They offer a buffet breakfast in the morning that costs around $6 but we decided to go to the waffle house next door. The buffet breakfast looked a lot like some of the breakfasts you can get for free at other hotels. I informed the women at the desk when we checked out about the problems with the room, so hopefully they have addressed and corrected these problems.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the end of October, it was excellent value, the staff were really friendly and the manager Joel was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him,a real star! The food in the bar was also great value for money and we some good nights with the other guests! another bonus was free car parking, the only down side was the noise of the trains at night, we will be staying there next year as Joel promised us a room at the back of the hotel where the noise of the train will not be so bad! Really pleased with the overall experience !

Room Tip: Check on the rooms near the train line
