Certificate of Excellence

We are a family of 23 and celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Lago Mar.
The service was exceptional, everyone was very friendly and the children had a great time at the pool and the ocean. The beach is excellent, clean and private. I would give the food and the service at the luncheon an A++ rating. The staff was very helpful in the planning stages and very cheerful the day of the luncheon. We had a great stay at Lago Mar and would return.

First time staying here and I am happy to report that I am glad that I picked Lago Mar! We will definetly be back. First, when we arrived at 12 noon our room was ready, there was no having to wait until check time abs everything was prepared for us. There is free valet and bellman to take care of your luggage. The ground are well kept and the decor is prefect for a boutique tropical resort (Tommy Bahama furnishing thoughout). We stayed in the oceanfront one bedroom. Boy it was huge! Kitchen, living and dining room combo, bedroom, and two full baths. Traveled as a family of five (hubby, an 1,4, and 11 year old) it was adquate space (the sofa bed pulls out to 2 twin beds and the baby stayed with us in the king, but they have crib if needed). The room was clean and the furnishing were perfect! The beach was at our feet and the pools were very warm. The food was great (tip: get the b&b deal- $10 extra for all you can eat breakfast buffet for 2 adults)! We truly enjoyed our stay!

Pros- Big Private beach, no cash resort everything charged to room w gratuity (many have complained about this but you should normally tip anyway so what is the difference- besides it almost makes it feel like an all inclusive), kid-friendly, on site activities, excellent service, excellent value, not overly crowded, good food!

Cons- a car could be needed to get off site, not the best for couples and romance (while it is a romantic setting it is a little hard to if you have kids in the area you know what I mean), no vending machines on property and we could not find the ice machine (I guess that since we have a kitchen they figured we'd make our own).

We stayed in a suite at the Lago Mar for an extended weekend. Of all the hotels available on the beach, we chose this one based on the overwhelming amount of positive reviews. It was the worst stay in a hotel that we've experienced in a very long time. I cannot understand how so many people have been satisfied with this hotel.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the pullout couch even worse. The movie rental service did not work, and when we called the front desk, they refused to attend to the issue because, as the employee explained, "it should be working." The kitchenette area was covered in ants. There was mold. The staff was incompetent and rude. The hotel would not accept cash for any purchases on the property and required us to charge everything to our room. The hotel was also about $60 more per night than other, reputable 4 star hotels in the area.

We attempted to check out and move to a nicer hotel. However, because there is a two-week cancellation policy, they informed us that we would be charged for each night we had booked. Explaining my allergic reaction to the mold generated no sympathy.

We loved this resort! We stayed one night and were upgraded to a pool side suite. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. The pool was nice but the water was a bit too warm. The resort is right on the beach and the resort provides towels for the beach and pool to all guests.

The hotel is lovely and the service is impeccable. We were amazed that the staff greeted us by name after just one encounter. We stayed in a Jr Exec suite and the room was pretty and spacious. The hotel is located directly on a private beach - which is a huge bonus. The resort was filled with families and is very family friendly - it's definitely not a couples retreat. Our room overlooked the pools and the beach and despite the throngs of families below, the room was very quiet and well insulated. The hotel has two pools-a family geared lagoon and a beach front "quieter" pool. While "quieter" than the lagoon, the beachfront pool was NOT quiet and was often filled with raucous, running, jumping, diving, ball playing kids. The same can be said for the "16 & older" fitness center. The pools and beach do not have lifeguards which is an important consideration for young families. The restaurants are well priced and the food is good but the menu lacks variety. While hotel bar is nicely located and appointed, the drinks are weak and a late night cap still finds the bar filled with families with kids. It should also be noted that the hotel shops & restaurants only accept "room charge" as payment. The pros are MANY and the cons are few...we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.

I would highly recommend this hotel to any group - large or small- that was looking for a spectacular get-a-way and/or vacation. The property is beautiful, tropical, and luxurious. There is a plethora of activities for all ages and the proximity to everything is fantastic. I came with my aunt for a relaxing weekend stay and wished I had my whole family (husband and four kiddos) with me. There would have been so much for them to do- that I could have STILL had my relaxing get-a-way and the children would have loved every minute. The property is perfectly sized to allow your family to have their 'freedom' while still being able to close by. The private beach is beautiful and right on property! The food was amazing and the happy hour was great.

Very family friendly vacation spot. Beautiful private beach. You would need to rent a car or take a cab as shops and restaruants are close by but not in walking distance. Very spacious rooms. We had a kitchenette so we grocery shopped for light snacks & meals. We had dinner on the resort a few nights and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Photo shoot with Mike (hotel photographer) was fun. He took some really great photos of our family. Definately would return again.
