We went there for 3 nights with our 2 young children for spring break. We stayed at the executive suite so when the kids asleep, my husband and I can still have time to ourselves. The suite has a very generous size of living room. It has a round dinning table, side table, coffee table, sleep sofa and 2 night stands. There are also 2 flat screen TVs, one in the living room and another in the bedroom. I believe each room has a balcony and some face the pool, beach or garden. At least for the executive suite, all the rooms are very spacious and clean.

The hotel is not the contemporary style but a little old glamour. It gives you a cozy and quaint feel. And the staff from the front desk to the attendant at the beach are all very friendly and helpful. I only had 1 minor negative experience at the restaurant with one of the servers but all the other encounters were wonderful.

The hotel really go out of their way to make there guests feel comfortable and relax. They provide plenty activities for the kids from miniature golf to floor chess board and they also have a small playground with hammocks. There are also variety types of restaurants so you can either get a quick bite like hamburger at the cafe or nice dinning with sit down restaurant.

The food at their restaurant is awesome and delicious! Their desserts are yummy and they aren't skimpy on the portion. My husband had their Italian one night and he thought was really good. The price is reasonable as well, it is about ~$20/entry. The breakfast buffet isn't super big but it has plenty of varieties to choose from. They also make fresh egg benedict at the griddle.

The best part of the hotel is the beach. It is clean and wide. There are plenty beach chairs. You don't have to cross the street, it is right behind the hotel. The pool is a good size and I believe it is heated.

By the time we were leaving, my son already requested for us to come back again for next spring break! I second of that. :)

My mother and I enjoyed a fabulous stay at Lago Mar. It was more than we could have ever expected. When we were in the car still looking for the hotel, I stopped and took a photograph of it from the bridge across the canal..we didn't know at the time that was Lago Mar, but thought the place looked beautiful. We were pleasantly surprised when we discovered that was the place we were going to be staying. The grounds are beautiful and clean and the private beach was breathtaking. All of the staff were very attentive and always friendly. We really enjoyed Edin, the server and Michael, James and Doris and the girls in the soda shoppe were all fabulous! We loved the resort gift shop and the hotel amenities. The spa also offered a beautiful and intimate place to relax. We enjoyed the colorful, lush landscaping and cozy hammocks throughout. The resort offers so much for everyone with amenities like mini putt, chess, tennis, shuffleboard and gorgeous pools. It is the perfect place for a family, or romantic getaway. The rooms are stunning and the suites are absolutely huge. It's like having your own apartment! The live entertainment by the pool was a nice touch. The food everywhere on the resort was outstanding. From the amazing cheeseburger at the soda shoppe to the fine dining dinner at Aquario, it was just spectacular. My mouth is still watering just thinking about it! They all just made our stay feel so warm and welcoming, like we were staying with family. We just can't wait to go back again soon!

We were only at the resort for a couple of nights and thought it was really lovely. The beach is the best part. It is private and kept clean with lots of lounge chairs. The beach attendant was very friendly and informative.

The hotel is a bit dated but it is still charming and our room was very clean. We enjoyed the lunches on the patio and drinks at the pool bar. There are several different places to get something to eat throughout the day on property. The front desk and concierge were very helpful when looking to dine off property. We had a rented car and didn't have to pay for parking which was nice.

The only negative is that I felt like the swimming pools were not attended to at all. We were there all day on a Saturday and Sunday. The hotel was at full capacity. Lounge chairs were left with dirty towels and no personal property for hours. Dirty food containers and empty cups with crushed fruit were left on the ground. They are in dire need of pool attendants that will constantly clean up trash, straighten out chairs and remove towels left behind so other guests can have a lounge chair. We experienced 14 teenagers come in a side gate and spend at least two hours at the pool with us. They arrived with their own towels and backpacks. They were obnoxious and had potty mouths. It was about 4:00 pm and the pool concierge left for the day. When I called the front desk they said they would send security out and NEVER did. I felt like we were paying top dollar and shouldn't have to put up with "pool crashers." I have never stayed at a resort like this that didn't have visible security and pool attendants that are there to keep things clean, tidy and safe. The two people working at the Pool Concierge desk did not clean up at all. Saw one of them actually step over a several towels on the ground that were all wet instead of picking them up and putting in a dirty towel bin. Maybe that isn't their job.

There were a lot of families enjoying themselves. It does seem like a great family resort. I would go back if I knew they would keep the pool areas cleaner and the chairs monitored so that all guests are welcome to use them. Cleanliness around the pool is just really important to me.

We had a great family vacation at the Lago Mar. We had beautiful photos taken from Mike a photographer who works there, and I would definitely recommend it. Josephine at the tiki towel hut was awesome. The grounds are beautiful too. They have a few different places to grab food and drink, which are pricey but good. We had a rental car which I would recommend to go off the resort as there is so much to do in the area but not in walking distance. Overall we had a very good time at the Lago Mar Resort!

Just ended our 2nd Spring break stay & have already booked next year. Perfect for families. Plenty of kids for my kids to make friends with. No rowdy 20 something year olds. Never crowded. With a private beach, you can just sit back & enjoy while enjoying a great drink. The staff are always polite & attentive. They remembered my family from last year & after a couple of days, the restaurant staff remembered what my picky eater wanted for lunch. We decided to have a photo shoot this year to commemorate our trip with the on-site photographer Mike. He took wonderful pics that we'll have for a lifetime. Can't wait till next spring!

Love Lago Mar, and will always try to find reasons to come! I am a local Floridian and live just minutes away but occasionally need a hotel for special occasions. Lago Mar is exceptionally beautiful and I have NEVER had a bad experience. From the wonderful staff greeting you as you drive up, to Manager Pauli at the front desk, it just gets better from there. The rooms are great! Even the smallest rooms make you feel like you are in a castle! And the luxury suites are amazing as well. You can be thrifty and bring your own groceries with their full kitchen capacity, burners to cook on and all. Drawer fridge AND freezer, it feels like home.

The swimming pools, outdoor games, private beach, etc etc...... all is just a beautiful oasis that goes on and on. Very family friendly, the kids never get bored.

My last stay was just my daughter " Brina" and myself for the local TORTUGA Music Festival. While the festival was amazing fun, manager Erich Pauli and his exquisite service made our weekend the best it could be! Thank you once again so much and we can't wait to see you again very soon !!

Lago Mar was completely booked the week we stayed and it never felt overcrowded, at the pool, playground, tennis courts, shuffleboard, minigolf, beach, cafe, hammocks. We stayed in a poolside 1 bedroom suite. The partial kitchen allowed us to make breakfast (toaster, convection oven, 2 burners, plus frying pan, pot, subzero drawer freezer/refrigerator) and eat on our balconey overlooking the lush beautiful grounds/pool. 2 pools, nicely heated. possibly even saltwater vs chlorine. deepest part 4'9" great for little kids. C shaped, so plenty of room. Then another pool, more for grown ups, deeper, laplanes.
The bedroom had a lush king bed. there is a safe. housekeeping does a good job. we used hte pull out couch for our kids and they loved it. (couch becomes 2 twin beds, maybe 4 inch separation).
We often ate at the cafe in the middle of the resort, so our kids could play in the sand at the playground or chess while we waited for our food. It felt very safe, people often left nonvaluables in their beach/poolside chairs. There is an even more casual eatery closer to the beach where you can get all sorts of ice cream bars. and an old fashioned ice cream cone shop, where you can also get sundries/snacks. the resort design is one that gets a lot of activities into not sprawling grounds, so you can easily go between activities. The beach was lovely. There are free beach chairs, but you must pay for umbrellas/cabanas ($25) and those do run out because they are designated spots. It's 10minutes from FLL airport which is terrific. and you can walk over to the port and watch the giant cruiseships coming and going. Bring binoculars for watching all the boats on the water, paragliders, blimps. they loan out tennis racquets (basic, not fancy) for free, but balls are $5/can. plenty of towels to get down by pool/beach.

the only caveat is to know that wireless reception is spotty, so people who were trying to "work" had some issues logging on and staying logged on. it's pricey, but so carefree.
