“Family Spring Break was a success!”
Reviewed 20 March 2014

We wanted to experience the beautiful turquoise water in Fort Lauderdale. We have a 12 and 16 year old, so it was also important that we not be by the college spring break crowd. I like this place because it truly feels like a resort... a vacation... Not just a "hotel by the beach" ... There are tennis courts here, a full basketball court, beautiful pool area, fitness center is really nice... plus they have a kid's club for 12 and under and it looks like they are having fun. They also gave us a list of activities going on every day around here. When you feel like going off property, easy to do...lots of places to walk too...or a quick cab ride if you don't want to drive and pay for parking. Also, if you rent a car from the airport... it costs to park here every day... $23 I believe... for self parking. Keep that in mind when you are budgeting for your trip. We have been here a week, and it is really nice. I would absolutely come back here. It's a beautiful resort and property. Friendly, helpful staff. Love it! There is a spa here too for those that enjoy that as well...Oh, and a Starbuck's shop in the lobby... Great Place!

Room Tip: We are in a "full view" of the ocean room...and i Love it! They also have rooms that look...

For the price, very expensive for this amount of noise. If you are coming for a relaxing getaway skip this resort. Constant noise from machinery all hours of day and night. Our room was on the water and we couldn't leave our balcony door open. Am sitting by the pool and cannot have a conversation due to noise from machinery.

Thank you for your feedback from your recent stay with us at the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. It is with your critiques that we can better improve our product and quality of services. March is a very busy time for the South Florida hotel industry. With that being said, it is imperative that we deliver on all of our services to make sure that you have a nice relaxing stay. Stayed at the Westin down the strip last fall for a similar long weekend getaway. We had issues with a small kiddie crowded rooftop pool(as in ewww that water cannot be pristine right now with body to body & diaper upon diaper) the overpass crossing to the ocean with malfunctioning elevators and just not feeling like we were at a resort. We even checked out a few other hotels on our walks.

This property has that resort feel we were missing! Lovely sprawling pristine pool. Background Caribbean or mellow music at calming decibels. Plenty of lounge chairs. Immediate access to the beach. You actually can enjoy some of the tots around cause there was plenty of room in & around the pool. There's a kiddie center with activities apparently also.

Pricey. You do have to pay for the pleasure. Perks are non existent. When we stayed at Lowe's in So Beach at similar rates, staff proferred afternoon snacks like fresh fruit, fruit juice sips, cucumbers or even little appetizers like chicken satays. Here you can get fruit infused water and mid afternoon there's SUGAR - cookies and lemonade. Kids appeared to love it but ...man, even as the mom of grown kids I'd be thinking why are you sabotaging efforts at healthier eating for kids especially?! I'd prefer a couple slices of cucumber or fresh fruit....for all ages.

We did not rent a car. To do so would have jacked up the costs significantly with parking/valet fees. We cabbed or walked but be prepared for a hike if you do.

The restaurant on premises, 3030, is superb. You might think it's overpriced hotel fare but you'd be wrong. It is fine dining definitely. Dress up and make it a date! It is also popular so make reservations. A fabulous selection of local fish and other fresh fare. We enjoyed a sublime mushroom soup, a fresh salad with a goat cheese croquette (each leaf of lettuce/baby greens etc looked freshly picked) and our fresh fish entrees. I had a corvina fish entrée. I had never even heard of the fish but it's a lovely white fish. Husband asked for a different preparation of his fish (I think it was grouper) and was delighted with his meal. The wine was reasonable priced. Ambiance was lovely with an ocean view, plenty of room, white tablecloth. Romantic. Our waiter was knowledgeable and perfect.

Prior to leaving our last day we had appetizers and happy hour drinks at the bar since dinner doesn't start till 6. Drinks were downright cheap at like $5. App selection limited but delish. The chicken poutine was something I'd never usually order but omigosh it was devine! A small dish of cooked chicken, fries, melted blue cheese and a fried egg on top. Honestly, I'd never order it elsewhere but took a chance and we ended up sharing 2 of these! Decadent!! We also tried the beef skewers with yogurt sauce and that was tasty.

Frankie the concierge is lovely and hooked us up a couple of times with amazing reservations. She got us a coveted spot at Grille 66.

One horrifying (to me) aspect of our stay was when I realized the maid pitched all bathroom products routinely daily. We had interrupted her one day and I saw the evidence in our trash can. A fairly hefty bar of soap, larger than usual in fact, used twice was in the trash. Partly used gels, shampoos get tossed. And our sheets were totally redone. Not green!! Well, to make up for that our room got skipped day 2, soooo.....

Pool area has lockers/showers for travel/check out day.

Pool area drinks are steep but tasty. We did not eat there but would walk a bit to a place called Quarterdeck about 1/2 mile away for double pour beer/wine and a lb of fresh peel n eat shrimp. That lunch cost less than just 2 drinks at the pool bar and was quite tasty. (ask for extra horseradish)

They should promote the resort experience more. Even simple things like my husband and I asked about a book exchange. He'd finished his and was not into the romanc stuff at the gift shop. First day he got a flat "no such thing". I tried my hand at it and coached a young man into looking for something hidden somewhere et voila! a dusty crate of misc stuff including some books! We left 2 interesting reads behind. :)

Pay extra and get ocean view. We'd leave our door open and fall asleep to crashing waves then wake up to ocean sounds & view. Priceless.

Oh...one more critical point...the bed was amazingly comfortable! Bliss.

On March 9, 2014 my daughter was married at this Hotel. Everything from the planning, food, accommodations, to the staff was first class! Katie Pakradooni, Catering Manager, tapped all the resources of the hotel to bring out the best from everybody. Using her magic she got her staff member Amy Cabarrea to cater to all my daughters requests. The Executive Chef, Sean Van Ness planned both the Cocktail Hour and the Reception Dinner down to the last detail. His talents could be compared with the finest restaurants in Europe. It is one thing to plan it is another to be 100% hands on with the execution. Huseyin Metin and Barrett Barrington, the Banquet Captains insured every fine detail for the event. Martha Alverez, Accommodation's Exec. coordinated all the accommodations for all our guests and treated them like royally. Emily, the Lobby Concierge, took on each challenge as if it was her wedding. The Valet Managers Giomar and Davis greeted each guest with a warm welcome. In short there are lots of places to hold a wedding but nothing compares to the outstanding staff of Katie, Amy, etc and the experience of the Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel.

We stayed only one night but really liked the hotel and pool. The room was nice but the pull out single bed seemed old and was pretty uncomfortable. My daughter ended up putting the mattress on the floor. Very busy. Nice staff.

We stayed here only one night before our cruise and had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is very clean and well kept. The grounds are beautiful and well groomed. Everyone on the hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel staff is good, fast and polite. The surroundings of the hotel are standard Marriott. I could not find anything spectacular to say about it, just that it met the Marriott standards and is overpriced as usual for this time of year. The good thing is that there were not a lot of spring break families around, which made the hotel somewhat quiet. Neighborhood around the hotel appeared dicey and I would not recommend walking around at night unchaperoned.

Room Tip: Odd side rooms under -30 are ocean view rooms.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience at our property. It is the high season in Fort Lauderdale, and with it goes high demand for accommodations, and prices are affected. Although the area is busy with tourists having a good time, I would not call the area dicey. Fortunately a lot of our guests walk around, jog, and enjoy the surroundings at any time of the day as the area is one of the most prized neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale.
Thank you for complementing our staff service as we strive to provide the best experience possible to our guests. I hope that we will host you again soon.
