I you want a 5 Star and spend a ton of $$$$ stay at the Ritz-Carlton. If you want a very clean place, nice comfortable bed, great location, friendly staff as well a a great price (espc. package deal) stay at the Bahia Mar. Get Ocean Front room (3rd floor and up). Just got back from 4 stay package and I look forward to going back. PS: I am a fussy guy from Jersey

I booked our oceanview room in the Tower bldg. 10 months in advance and was getting worried towards the end when I saw some bad reviews. Well, I am sooo glad I did not cancel!
We stayed for 2 nights pre-cruise and 2 nights post- cruise( Superbowl weekend).
I asked for a room on a higher floor. Stayed pre-cruise in room 1004 ( 2 double beds) and room 1502 ( queen or king size bed ). The interesting thing was that while on 10th floor pre-cruise I was afraid to step on a balcony, after the cruise 15th floor seemed lower and I had no problem using the balcony. The balcony is just big enough just for 2 people to stand on it, but we watched the Superbowl fireworks from there and we could see the concert from a distance and definitely could hear the concert...
On both occasions we were able to check in earlier.
I enjoyed the swimming pool which was heated.
The elevator is very slow ( our only complaint).
The location is brilliant. close to Las Olas.
The watertaxi stop is just south to the hotel in the marina. We used the watertaxi one day. 15$ pp daypass.
In the lobby one computer and printer are dedicated to airline check-in and printing the boarding passes free of charge. Very nice.
I would definitely stay there again. No, it was no Ritz, but both of us were happy with what the hotel had to offer and its location, great view , friendly staff and large heated swimming pool.
My husband used the fitness center and he wished they had an eliptical machine...

We almost cancelled our reservations after reading some of the reviews. But the price was good (under $140) for the time of our stay and we weren't expecting anything spectacular. Parking fee put the total daily rate above $150 though. My daughter wanted to stay close to the beach and this fit her criteria. We looked at other places online in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood Beach and they were all a lot more money.

It ended up being pretty nice, Clean large room - great view of ocean on the left and pool on the right. The room itself was the closest one to the elevators (right across in fact) and sometimes people would talk loudly while waiting but as soon as the elevator arrived, all was good again. The layout of the bathroom/dressing room is a tad strange but no big deal. Water pressure of shower was not so good though. Beds were smallish - felt smaller than a double. Loads of fresh towels each day even though we didnt require them to be changed.
Would stay again if the price is right.

we stayed here before our cruise. The location is great from the airport to the cruise port. There is a walkway over the very busy street that takes you directly to the beach. The pool area is also a nice place to relax at. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance which are across from the beach. We did not have a car and it was fine, taxis are plentiful. They have a free storage area for your luggage since you have to check out earlier than you can get on the ship , if cruising, Store your luggage and enjoy the pool, beach or walk to the restaurant area where there is also souvenir stores. The carpet is looking worn and outdated along with some wallpaper but it is a clean hotel in a great location, we would stay again. The conceirge is great also.

We have just returned from Fort Lauderdale where we stayed at Bahia Mar for 4 nights pre cruise. We were a bit dubious after reading reviews and thought about cancelling our booking. How glad I am that we didn't. We had huge room with Marina/Sea views very helpful staff and great weather What more do you need?
Just beside water taxis which took you everywhere..

we stayed at the Bahia Mar for three days after our cruise, very nice location, walkway takes you right onto the awesome ft lauderdale beach. rooms were clean. good size. had beautiful view of the marina and partial ocean view. elevator is a bit old and could use some updating but overall excellent place to stay. would return again.

I went along to the Bahia Mar with my husband for a conference he was attending there. He thought the meeting rooms were comfortable and well lit with wireless provided. The snacks and meals provided were good. We were there a few extra days as the rate was good, The room was large- lots of hot water, bed comfortable, nice ocean and marina view. Pool was warm. The yachts docked at the resort were very impressive. Valet parking was efficient and self-parking was available, too. We ate at the hotel resaurant once and it was surprisingly good. The beach is very nice and accessible by an over-the-highway walkway- a nice touch since traffic can be heavy. Altogether a good value.
