Stayed with my husband in April 2013. Good location if you want to be close to the beach and still quiet. The outdoor environment with pool area Is very nice and clean. The staff is kind and welcoming. The rooms need refreshment and bed is not very comfortable. What you can expect of the price.

SaraStina,
Thanks so much for your review. We have kept the mid-century modern architecture of our boutique hotels rather than knock them down and build high rises. As a result, these older buildings sometimes need extra TLC and we will definitely address the items you mentioned. Guest feedback is extremely important to us and is the best way we can improve. Thanks again for your review, and we hope to see you again soon!

We found The Winterset while trying to find an inexpensive hotel close to the Ft Lauderdale beach. We were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem of a hotel. We got the deluxe suite which included a kitchen. It was extremely clean, well laid out, and perfect for what we needed. We were less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and even had access to 3 different pools on the hotel's property. The front office staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The property has a great feel to it and the location is wonderful for the beach, restaurants, and an easy taxi ride to many other attractions. I would definitely recommend staying here and will certainly do so again on my next trip to Ft Lauderdale.

Everything about this place was amazing! It was retro, looked like it was out of the 60's, and filled with everything you needed for a great vacation with a perfect location. It was inexpensive, the staff was very accomdating, only a few blocks from the beach. Just looking at it online, the Winterset had great reviews, but I was worried about safety. That was rediculous, because this place is safe! It's located in a great, quiet area. We were able to park right by our room, and felt very safe leaving our belongings to drive to The Keys for a day. The large flat screen was perfect for viewing the Superbowl! There's even a cute little coffee/brunch/wine restaurant right down the road. A Starbucks is right on the main strip right off the beach, within walking distance. The room was very clean. Will definitely stay again!!! Can't wait!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 109, opened right to the pool, and right next to the ice machine (though you'd...

CHanson307,
Thanks so much for your review. You brought up a great point about safety. We've done a lot to improve the area, like a night security guard and lots of lighting, and we're glad that you felt safe and secure in North Beach Village. We can't wait for your return either! See you soon, NBV

We booked the Winterset after seeing the rave reviews online, and we were not disappointed. I absolutely loved the vegetation all over this little resort. You really feel like you're enveloped in a tropical setting. My best moments during our vacation consisted of me laying in the shade by the pool, rotating from the (very nice) hot tub and pool. There are three pools, so you can definitely find some privacy. In fact, even though I believe the resort was at full capacity when we stayed, it was so quiet and we often had the pool to ourselves. The suite was super clean and very cute. We stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment with a king bed and kitchen. There was a TV in the bedroom and living room with about 100 channels. The staff was so helpful. we had late check in (11PM) which you have to do at their sister hotel, The Aqua Hotel. The girl working was so nice and she even offered to drive us the couple of blocks over to the Winterset. Housekeeping staff is very friendly. The location is alright - it's a couple blocks from the beach. Rent a bike for $5/hr. Also, check out Plaza Bistro for Happy Hour (5-6) half priced food & wine. CONS: Unfortunately the Internet was not good while we were there - it took several hours to download a movie. The bedroom was really warm so we had to keep the fans turned up. The bathroom is older, but they clean it up nicely.

We were looking at a nice but unexpensive place to stay for a few day in fort lauderdale. We weren t disappointed. The place was well located. A few minutes walk from the beach. Room was cleaned. The pool area was quiet. We had reserved our 2 first nights before leaving for a few days in the keys. We didn t hesitate to book our last night in fort lauderdale before heading back to Montreal. The staff was very nice particularly the gentleman who worked the night shift. He was very pleasant. and helpful. For people who doesn t like to spend money for a hotel but still want a minimum of comfort, this is the place to go.

We were looking for an inexpensive hotel room for a weekend visit to Ft. Lauderdale with another couple while we all attended a music festival down the street. This place totally fit the bill. It is not located directly across from the ocean, which we thought it was for some reason, but it was only about three blocks. The area seemed safe to us. There were quite a few "mom and pop" type hotels right in this area.

We originally booked the room with two double beds, but after adding another couple to our trip sort of last minute, the hotel staff graciously upgraded our room to a one bedroom suite. The one bedroom includes a king bed and bathroom in one room, and a sofa bed and additional bathroom, as well as a kitchenette. It was very spacious. The hotel itself is older, so don't expect it to be ultra modern. You are not staying in a brand new hotel. But it WAS clean, safe and comfortable.

The property is actually two or three separate hotel buildings, all nicely landscaped for a tropical feel. I could tell our room had been recently renovated. The pull out bed still had the wrapping on it! We were the first to even sleep on it. :)

The pool area was nice and clean, there was a hot tub as well as a pool in our little section. The pool was open all night as far as we could tell, we were down there at one point around 2 a.m. (being quiet!!). There were never any noises to complain about at night or in the morning, which was nice!

I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone looking for a less-expensive option than a chain-hotel.

Thanks to the staff at the Winterset for really making our vacation a memorable one!

Room Tip: Spend the extra for the larger room! Totally worth it. :)

The location to the beach is great, the staff are very helpful, the grounds and room was really good for the price and would recommend to friends.
The only complaint was that after hours check in procedure is not advertised on web sites.
