Hi again! It's the travelin' travel agents from Consumers Travel World---Here we are in sunny Florida. This is a very tough review to write, because we never want to trash a business that may not have control over circumstances. The exterior of this hotel is beautifully landscaped and extremely convenient---on a main road, but somewhat set back. We had a good laugh when we read the notice on the back of the room door had it listed at $700 a night. In WHOSE dream?! Even JW would get a kick out of that! Anyway, the room was nice, clean, as expected (especially for a $700 room.) Then comes the nickel and diming------no breakfast of ANY sort------no coffee in the lobby------no free LOCAL calls. When I asked at the desk if there was a free daily paper, the helpful clerk informed me that there was, but it was well hidden. She pleasantly walked me over to a small hidden alcove where the newspapers resided. Why hide them?? And now, to the serious stuff!!! After taking a shower, the bathtub drain didn't work. The water was deep yellow-green. Was it the shampoo? Was it the soap? Was I really Bruce Banner???? We're talking seriously dark water!! Reporting this to the front desk brought a nonchalant response that that is the color of water in Fort Lauderdale! Hard to believe! We were aware that water in Florida is brackish, but not the color of anti-freeze. That was the end of bathing there or drinking anything that wasn't bottled. If it is true that the water in Ft. Lauderdale is toxic-looking, then I would expect a hotel (asking $700/night for a room) to pay for a filtration system of some sort. In that same thinking, good resorts in Mexico and other climes have full water filtration systems, instead of telling their guests that a bout of Montezuma's revenge is imminent. What can we say...nickel and diming is a common enough practice for a hotel guest to overlook---but water that would make the Incredible Hulk feel right at home is not something we wish to experience again.
