“A Great Weekend!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2011

Enjoyed a Labor Day weekend getaway with family at this lovely place! Had a 2 bedroom suite (combo of 1 bedroom suite plus 1 bed room opened up to the suite.) Everything was super clean, updated, and the bed...was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The location of this property is fantastic. It's a bit of a pain to park but then you never need to use your car again. We walked or took a water taxi everywhere we wanted to go. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Beach Place Towers is a Marriott Vacation Club Resort.I am a Marriott timeshare owner and used my points to pay for my stay here. Like other Marriott resorts, I found the lovely two bedroom villa clean, spacious and very comfortable. The villas have a fully equipped kitchen and for those with families(like us) there is a CVS pharmacy downstairs at the Beach Place where you can purchase almost anything in terms of groceries-very convenient. The resort is located on a lively boulevard directly opposite the beach. There are several restaurants and shops within easy walking distance, however we did find some of them pricey. The other drawback was access to the hotel via a multi storey parking garage at the back ( for which we had to pay $14 a day ) which was not too convenient. We have no complaints about the pool and there was also a games room to keep the kids occupied. Overall my family and I had a great time here.

This is the second time we have stayed at Beachplace Towers and I guess it says something that we came back. Firstly the positives:
The location is fantastic. Right above the beach and a lovely part of the beach at that. Above a little mall with a lot of restaurants and bars and with plenty more out on the street so you can easily eat out. There is a drugstore in the mall and a Publix and a Winn Dixie within about 5-10 minutes drive.
The apartment was lovely. Very spacious, very large kitchen and utility room. Plenty of living space indoors and out. You could honestly live in an apartment this size let alone holiday in it. We had a 2 bedroom and there was 4 of us. The master had a king size bed, the 2nd bedroom and a queen size and a sofa bed and there was another sofa bed in the lounge. I cannot fault the accommodation. We loved it.
Staff: Very friendly and helpful. The timeshare presentation was rather tiresome. It took 3 hours not 90 minutes and the lady got a bit irritable when we didnt want to buy any more time from them. Not great.
The negatives:
The car park is the biggy. First it is $14.95 per night which is expensive over the week. But mostly its the fact that it takes so long to get in and out of it. You have to go up to the 4th or 5th floor for Marriott and its quite a winding route up 2 way ramps. It can easily take 8-10 minutes to get out of the garage and is much worse if people are leaving the beach or mall from the lower public floors.
The lifts: There just aren't enough and they can get terribly congested with people coming back from the beach or checking in/checking out. The lines were often very long.
The pool: it just isn't big enough for a resort of this size and there isn't much they can do about it as there is no more space. Maybe the roof????? It gets crowded. Also when we first arrived the gully was absolutely blocked with debris which was spilling into the pool - looked very nasty indeed. I pointed it out to an employee and to give credit, he got it cleaned right away.

We are Marriott owners (Grande Vista in Orlando) and we have stayed at a lot of Marriott Vacation Clubs. This is definitely the worst but having said that it is still a very nice resort. You just have to be aware of the three drawbacks I have mentioned which are all caused by the tiny footprint the property has.

Just returned from a girls weekend in Ft. lauderdale Beach and the hotel was wonderful. The room was super clean, nice, has a small kitchenette, refrigerator and coffeemaker. It's spacious and the view was wonderful. The pool area has a nice view of the beach and the location is superb. There are so many shops and restaurants downstairs and within a few blocks. Highly recommended.... I will definitely come back.

I'm a Marriott owner and used points to stay here for several days post-cruise. Based on prior reviews, I went in with mediocre expectations and they were met. It's across the street from a beautiful beach, but it's a busy street; we go to Marriott vacation clubs mostly for family trips with our 4 kids; at this resort there is less ability to let our teenagers roam because of the busy area.

Pros: Beautiful 2 BR villa
clean
Great concierge, Al

Cons: Parking garage/entrance; difficult for visitors to navigate
Called me twice a day to do a timeshare presentation. I'm an owner already, leave me alone!
For us, the busy area was a con. Others might like it.
Elevators: quite slow.
No umbrellas for shade at the pool
Marriott doesn't offer umbrellas or chairs at the beach, you have to rent them either from Marriott or from a vendor on the beach at $30/day for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella.

We stayed at the Marriott and it was one frustrating experience after the other! First off it is a pain to get in and out of the hotel especially when you have never been here before when you are trying to figure out how to check in. They then charge you $14 per day for parking when you can use the public parking which is $60 for a whole week in the same parking garage.

You would also assume being a Marriott that you would get daily room service but instead you have to request it and pay for every day you want your room cleaned! On top of it something as simple as tv programing didnt fully work and when we called for service they just told us it is an issue and there isn't anything they can do.

Overall it has been an aggravating experience and not worth staying here when there are so many other hotels with amenities they work and included on the same street!

Stayed in the 2 bedroom villa and it was spacious and beautiful! Do not leave without checking out the observation deck on the 16th floor. The view is breathtaking. Take advantage of renting the beach chairs and umbrellas for the beach for $3.00 each! Excellent location and walking distance to shops, beach, eats, etc.
