Very conveniently located just off of I-75, we stopped for the night on the way to Punta Gorda, Sarasota and eventually St. Petersburg over the July 4th weekend.
Unbeknownst to us, a local youth baseball tournament was using the hotel as a base for multiple families. It was a bit busy, but everyone was respectful.
The staff (young girls) at the front desk were exceedingly friendly and willing to chat. A nice touch was the free buffet on Friday night in the lounge with live music. Plenty of guests took advantage, while families mingled outside by the lake. Fire pits, lounge chairs, pool and fishing were being enjoyed.
The rooms were nice and clean. Hallways and elevators had a musty smell, most likely from the number of guests dripping wet from outside moving to their rooms. The room came equipped with a small refrigerator (no freezer was bad for our ice packs) and a microwave, which was perfect for us since we travel with food.
There are a couple of fast food restaurants a long walk from the hotel; major chain restaurants across the highway along with a major mall.
There were really no complaints about the hotel; it's a Holiday Inn and it offers expected service. Staff, cleanliness of rooms, evening buffet, just off of I-75 convenience all add up to a nice one night stay along the way.More
