Owner description: Visit Old Florida, where things are done naturally.San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve is a 718 acre beach and mangrove forest preserve with a variety of recreational opportunities to enjoy including: Bird Watching, Canoe/Kayak Launch, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (Boardwalk), Nature Study/Photography, Picnic Area, Swimming and Sun Bathing.Step back in time visiting San Carlos Bay- Bunche Beach Preserve, one of the few natural beaches framed with native vegetation and mangrove tunnels to explore by kayak or canoe. In 2010, public beach facilities were completed & opened with ADA parking, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak ramp, picnic tables, and a small boardwalk overlooking Rock Creek. On the white sandy beach, there is an ADA mobie mat that leads to an ADA picnic table. Bunche Beach is not a barrier island beach. It is narrow compared to the beaches on Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. This adds to its unique charm. This Beach is never crowded and easily accessible with no traffic concerns. Kayak and SUP rentals are available through the on site vendor, Kayak Excursions, which also sells bottled water and assorted sundries at the Activities center located just behind the beach.Enjoy a quiet day by the bay.

“Great view but LIMITED Parking.”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

The location at the end of John Morris Road is about 3 miles off Summerlin. The parking is very limited and there is a solar pay machine that has occasionally not functioned. The beach itself faces due south and stretches for about 4 miles.. Narrow but right at the Gulf where Sanibel, Ft Myers Beach and FT Myers intersect. Limited facilities, no food or drink, but pretty view and beach.

“Best 'private' public beach in Florida”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

I'm hesitant to post this review, because I really don't want a ton of people to discover this secret gem. :) No karaoke, no bathrooms, no grills for cooking out, just an awesome beach the way they are meant to be enjoyed.

“NICE HIDEWAY”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This beach area is known to the local people who live in that area of Fort Myers and that makes it's quiet, nice because it is not full of tourists, and maintained well. You can walk out pretty far when the tide is out. Take a lunch or/and cooler because there is no services there, just a nice, clean, beach to enjoy

“Gorgeous Views and No Crowds”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

I love this beach. It is easy to get too, plenty of parking, a great place to go walking or swimming. I love to go and watch the gorgeous Florida sunsets. Perfection.

“Kayaking Bunche Beach”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

I love Bunche Beach -- it has gotten a bad reputation (male prostitutes and old man "meet ups"), but seems to have cleaned up a bit in the past few years. I haven't seen *anything* sketchy here in my many, many visits, but I still think it's good to be aware.

The mangroves around the inlets of Bunche Beach are great to kayak - but watch out for crabs!! Crabs are all over the trees and will fall into your kayak.

See my blog for pics and more info:
