To emphasize their commitment to buying local and bringing you the freshest seafood Ft. Myers has to offer, you'll find our hand picked selection straight from the local waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Here you'll get a peek at the sumptuous fare that you'll soon be enjoying from their comfortable yet elegant dining room. Small tubs of pale pink creamy shrimp bisque stand in line next to bases for both kinds of chowder - New England style being what the restaurant is most famous for, a nod to the original owners' home region. Diners consistently return to enjoy these favorites plus the greatest Florida Stone crabs (in season) and Maine Lobsters.

“Stumbled on a Great Dinner”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

I was just driving around looking for a seafood restaurant that had a bunch of cars in the parking lot, when I saw The Pawnbroker Restaurant and Fish Market. I figured if they were a fish market the fish should be fresh and it was. I started with the Shrimp Bisque and it was a thick rich bisque with many small chunks of shrimp and tasted excellent. I then ordered the Grouper Matanzas which was a piece of grouper lightly dipped in egg batter and fried with small pieces of crab that seemed sautéed on top. Very tasty. It came with heavily butter vegetables, (yellow squash, zucchini and julienned carrots). They had a few side room seating areas so you didn't feel like you were in a cafeteria and the staff was very friendly.

“33 Years and Getting Better”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

The Prawnbroker is a rock solid choice for dinner with friends or family, a date, or just a fun night out. Part of a larger (but not too large) restaurant group...thse people have the restaurant business figured out. First, they hire quality people and take good care of them. Our waitress has been with them for 28 years, yet still offer a genuine smile amd has a "can do" attitude.

The menu is on the upper end of moderately priced, and literally has something for everyone. This restaurant looks deceivingly small from the outside....but it can (and does) accomodate a crowd. Reservations are recommended, but not always necessary in the off season.

I am luck enough to live close by. The Boston Baked Haddock is my fave!

“Friendly service, great fish”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Years ago we had enjoyed an affiliated restaurant on Marco Island. Tonight we were delighted to enjoy the same terrific fish and friendly service we remembered from Marco. I had what the menu accurately described as "very fresh" amberjack, and my wife had fried oysters. Both were totally delicious. We will be back.

We stopped at the Prawnbroker for dinner. Amazing food! Great service! I had the special on Maine Lobster. A whole Maine lobster with salad and baked potato, the fresh bread was amazing! Overall great experience.

“The Name drew me in”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

We were driving by and we first thought it was a pawnbrokers shop, and when we looked closer saw it was The Prawnbroker. Ok so we are from out of town, and while by the coast why not do some seafood. None in our party of 4 was big on seafood, but what the heck we decided to go in.

Atmosphere - the restaurant had the seafood odour in the front entrance, where you could take out fresh fish and prepare at home. It appeared clean, and very large as we were escorted to the back garden of the restaurant. Nice view and bright, decor matched by the sea type restaurant.

Service - our server was friendly and efficient. Our drink orders were taken immediately and no delay in bringing them back. Our orders were taken right after and appetizers were also promptly brought out.

Food - as non seafood lovers, all of us were very happy with our choices. I had shrimp cocktail for appetizer was very good. For meal I chose steak and coconut shrimp - steak was grilled perfectly, and really enjoyed the shrimp.

I would return again when visiting Ft. Myers and feeling like some seafood.
