“Lovely house run by a lovely couple”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2013

We turned up on their frontstep as an entirely unexpected walk-in, and were still greeted very warmly, offered a choice of rooms, and an explanation of the surroundings. We ended up in the Orchid room, which - like the rest of the house - has a very charming interiour, and all amenities one could expect. While the house is collonial style, everything is beautifully renovated, and up to current - even luxurious - standards of today.

Walked to the beautiful city center and slept soundly in the comfy King-size bed; followed by showering in the huge bathroom with double vanities. We were sent off with a lovely breakfast with home-made french toast and a nice yoghurt with fresh strawberrys as well as as good a coffee as you can get. Highly recommended!

We have traveled quite a bit in the last 12 years and stayed at MANY different B&B's. This ranks right up there with the best. Pam & David pay extraordinary attention to detail and strive to make every guest feel spoiled and well taken care of. We chose the Orchid room to stay in, which is upstairs with it's own private entrance & lots of windows. The renovated bathroom is as if you've walked into the pages of a magazine... and the 7' shower with the suspended rainwater feature is fantastic, not the mention "his & hers" double sink vanity. The bed & linens were top notch. David made sure fresh coffee (with ice at my husbands request) was waiting both mornings outside our door at 7:30 and the icing on the cake was a sweet treat accompanied by a very thoughtful, hand-made card during the evening of our second stay. The breakfast both mornings got rave reviews all the way around the table with fresh fruits and main dishes that had recognizable but delicious ingredients. The baked, brown sugar bacon... OH MY! We would highly recommend staying here for anyone interested in visiting the Ft. Myers/Sanibel area... it's location just a couple blocks from downtown was perfect with a short drive out to the island. Well done Pam & David! Photos soon to come.

What a treasure, we just spent a wonderful weekend at the Hibiscus House while we enjoyed our first visit to Ft Myers. Pam & David are both gracious & personable, their special personal touches & helpful input on area points of interest made the experience something to remember. Our room was perfect & the spa tub was a treat, the history & charm of the home was wonderful, the breakfasts are gourmet quality. Looking forward to returning. Wishing them continued success & many blessings.

When staying in Ft Myers, forget the big chains, treat yourself to real comfort. The Hibiscus House provides ultimate comfort, old Florida charm with some of the best hospitality you can get. David and Pam offer reasonable rates, mouth watering breakfasts in a true gem of a B&B just a stroll from the night life of downtown. A must stay in Ft Myers! (By the way the beds are the BEST)

this was the best (of 6) accomodations of our trip through southern Florida. David and his family are very friendly; we had good talks during the breakfast and got lot of information about things to do in Fort Myers. Rooms are ample and well furnished. The house is perfect located: only a few minutes walk to both: the downtown and the top place of interest: the Edison & Ford winter Estates. The street, where the house is located - McGregor Boulevard - is famous for the thousands of palms at the sides, some planted by Edison.

Never experienced such hospitality. Pam and David were efficient, warm, and have paid attention to every detail. Breakfast was outstanding, all homemade, beautifully set table. Fresh roses in the room, spectacular furnishings, comfortable bed, our own private entrance to our room with our own key, lots of storage space, jetted tub, walk in closet, even TV and a night light in the stunning bathroom. Pam and Dave served breakfast to all three couples, then sat with us to share some great stories . Every guest commented they would be back and we surely will keep that promise. Just go once yourself, you'll be blown away ! Barbara & Harald

Room Tip: We were in Bougavillia room and was sure it was the best. But the other three couples all thought t...

We had two nights at this upscale B&B, and we certainly weren't disappointed by our booking.

The house is absolutely beautiful, and has an interesting history as it was built somewhere else, then cut in half and moved to it's current location decades ago!

We were met by David (his wife Pam was away) who was immediately warm and welcoming and showed us to our room (the Bougainvillea room) and explained everything to us, including how to operate the shower and spa bath.

The room was stunning; an absolute touch of class. David and Pam have put so much effort into decorating and furnishing this house, and it shows everywhere you look. They have even installed beautiful stained glass panels into bathroom windows to catch the light, and each of their rooms is different and offers you something else.

Oh, I have to mention the bed sheets - I have never felt such soft sheets in my life and I even asked David about them. He told me he had bought them specially as an added touch - no-one likes scratchy sheets! I believe they are a particular brand called cosysheets. Believe me, there is no skimping on quality at this B&B!

Breakfast was a joy. We sat at a large table, which meant we could chat to the other guests, and this was a pleasure in itself. We had different food each day; a fresh fruit cup followed by a gourmet sausage omelette bake one day, and an oatmeal apple brulee and caramalised bacon on the side the next. Certainly not your run of the mill food, and cooked to perfection by David.

The hotel is very central to town, and there is a nice big car park which is free to use (also, free wi-fi).

I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere with a touch of luxury - if you are a husband looking for somewhere to whisk your wife away, then look no further!
