We enjoyed our day at this state park. We parked in the first lot and took the free tram. The driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tram takes you through a very natural area of the park. The beach had many seashells and was large enough to kick a soccer ball around. There was a gazebo for shade and restrooms nearby. It was not crowded at all and we felt like we could stay in the water all day!

This is truly one of the best-kept secrets in the FMB area. Admission is $8.00 per car load, or $2.00 per person for walkers/bicyclers. There is ample parking, and a trolley that runs every 15 minutes, although the beach is a 5 minute walk away if you park in the first lot. There are rest room facilities, outdoor showers of different sizes, and a small snack bar/gift shop by the lot. We elected to walk and found ourselves the only ones on the beach for a good 2 hours. By noon, there were maybe 30 people scattered across the whole beach (1 mile or so!). Nice, romantic trip if you want to avoid the packed beaches. The beach is made up of broken shells, and if you go at low tide you can find many different shells in great condition that are brought in. We saw lots of birds, a couple turtle nests that were marked, and even saw dolphins and manatees less than 50ft from the shore. If you have the chance, make this beach one of your stops!

The beach was a long walk from the parking lot. They said there was a shuttle but we never saw it. The sand was all shell shards so walking was difficult. The rest rooms were way back near the parking lot and we're not well kept.

Lovers Key State Park has 2 miles of white sanddy beaches right at the edge. Wht a gorgeous place to sunbathe, swim or fish.

We had 3 days to hike and explore (then beach it) the Gulf Coast. On Day 1, we went to Sanibel - it was beautiful. On day 2, we went to Naples. eh...good for shopping. On day 3, we went to Lovers Key State Park. It's remarkable that heaven could be had for $8.00. We started the morning by hiking the Black Island Trail, a 2.6 mile trail that took us around the hammock where we saw tortoises, snakes lovely birds. We then returned and walked to the beach which, at 11:00 A.M., was "filled" with 7-10 other people we saw for the next hour. Whereas most Fort Myers and Sanibel beaches' shells were ransacked by 8 or 9 A.M., this beach had beautiful shells of all shapes and sizes. After 3 days of hiking and kayaking, we were quite tired, but kayaking is available for $50.00 or so for a 4 hour minimum rental.

We will absolutely be returning to Lovers Key!
