“Good location for a stop over”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We had left Disney World and wanted to visit Sanibel Island for a few days. This resort was recommended and close to the island. Having stayed in state parks most of our "camping" we found the sites here to be very small. With the trailer parked, the truck backed in to the concrete pad left little room. The place was clean and the bath house was nice, would stay here again, but not for a week, just a day or two.

This RV park is surrounded by water on its own little island. The park is kept very clean and is kept up. It is a waterside paradise. There are good restaurants and establishments to get a cocktail just a short walk away. The staff is extremely helpful and very pleasant to work with. I would recommend this park to anyone who is interested in a laid back vacation on the water.

When we pulled in, we felt like this park would be too close & crowded, but since most of the sites back up to a canal or the bay, the space was good. Everyone was friendly and helpful and people kept their sites neat. The pool is small but clean and there are plenty of nice lounge chairs. Wi-fi and tv reception were great. It's only 1mile over the bridge to Ft Myers beach so we walked or took our bikes there most days. Traffic heading to the beach was backed up far beyond the park entrance, so we wisely chose not to travel places that would force us to deal with it. There are nice restaurants within walking distance, as well as fresh seafood shops. We'd choose San Carlos again to be close to the water and the beach.

We have visited Fort Myers during the summer since 2008 and stayed at this park in our travel trailer. We just love it there. The park has always been very nice, but is even nicer since the improvements have made over the last couple years. The employees there are very helpful and they make us feel like we belong there. We really enjoy fishing and watching wildlife and this park has plenty of both. The fishing is wonderful, and there are many types of birds in and around the park as well as manatees and dolphins. I have always been a nature watcher, but I had not seen horseshoe crabs up close until I stayed in this park. They gather up at the canoe ramp during the months of July and August. In and around the park is a sample of nature at it's best. Bring your boat along, as we do, and leave the boat in the water for easy access with floating docks. Here you can experience the serenity of the back country shallow water fishing, flats fishing for trout, or open water fishing in the gulf. A visit to the Fort Myers area and a stay at this park is truly a great family experience!

Stayed here twice, could not ask for a more idyllic location on the West Coast. Rent a kayak, or relax in the fabulous Jacuzzi (pretty rare). Sites are understandably narrow, but very well maintained.

Room Tip: If you love the water, pay the little bit extra for waterfront site.

We were heading north up the Florida Gulf from Everglades and Naples the week before Thanksgiving when the weather turned cold to the North. We found this gem and then they were kind and understood when we were delayed, kept our spot 3 days. Next they gave us a great upgrade! Nicest people and very knowledgeable and will offer local resources. Connie especially helpful! Nice pool and Jacuzzi for a relaxing soak.New boat docks. We were surrounded by bay water, natural island hammocks loaded with birds and fish and Dolphins. Boat moorage at many spots is new and very well designed. We decided to stay thru the Thanksgiving holiday and then we Will brace the cold!

Was there over the holidays....nice site on the water, boat docked behind the rv...lovely sunsets. The park is close to everything, the beach is just on the other side of the bridge..close to Sanibel Island, restaurants and shopping..Staff was wonderful...yes they were doing some construction when we were there BUT the men doing the work were very pleasant...the park did everything they could to keep the noise and inconvenience to a minimum..and why complain, the improvements are only going to benefit the guests... The pool s nice..and yes, there were dolphins every day..would stay again
