“After my first stay, this is the only place I will ever stay at or recommend on FMB”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2011

As a longtime local resident with fairly regular visitors that enjoy beachfront hotels, I certainly know where NOT to stay on Fort Myers Beach. I also know that trying to get on and off the beach during an event is often unbearable with two young (impatient!!) children, so when a beach-going family member was coming to town during the Sand Sculpting Competition, I knew I had to find a place for us to stay the weekend. I happened upon Gulfview Manor Resort while mapping the event location and the price was certainly right, but I was concerned about some of the reviews I read here and on other sites. We have stayed at several beachfront condo rentals and bad can be very bad.

This condo was unbelievably clean, but very comfortable and inviting. It was obvious that the owners are trying to constantly improve on an older building and walls and crown molding were freshly painted, there were flat screen TVs with a full complement of channels in the living room and bedroom, and the bathroom looked recently remodeled. All furniture, including the beds, were in great shape (usually a telltale sign of poor upkeep) and comfortable. I was also pleasantly surprised that "side view" one-bedroom condo still had a very decent view of the beach. Real beach towels were provided for everyone (not chintzy bathroom towels) at no charge and really all the comforts of home were readily available. And the pool was actually heated!

For the people that complained about the water being so far away, really? That is the owner’s fault? That happens to be one of the best features of this end of Fort Myers Beach.

For the people that complained about the rules, really? There is no vacation rental that does not have almost exactly the same set of rules (and then some), most of which are common courtesies.

For the people that complained about the extra charges, really? This is all pretty clearly disclosed on their website. Parking on FMB is a premium. A one car limit is not unreasonable to be able to guarantee all of their guests a parking spot. This is not a hotel. I do not expect daily housekeeping, which is also clearly disclosed on their website. There were plenty of towels (and toilet paper!), you just have to look a little bit.

For the people that felt like the owner was watching their every move, really? My children are far from angels and can be pretty loud, but they respect other people. Maybe you and those in your traveling party are obnoxious and rude.

I feel like I want to keep this place a secret so I will always have a room when I need it, but I guess that would be a little obnoxious and rude.

We stayed five nights in July. This was our second stay having been here in 2005. The reason we returned was the amount of space that you get and the reasonable cost of the stay. While other hotels provide many more amenities, with a family of five, we needed space and wanted to be on the beach. The Gulfview accomodates both of those needs. We had the two bedroom/bath apartment with a pull out couch. The place is clean and roomy. We love the large enclosed wrap around patio. The living room had a large flat screen TV.

This isn't a place where you will be pampered. You get one beach towel per person when you check in. You do your own cleaning, making beds, taking out the trash, etc. You have to ask for additional TP, paper towels, trash bags. There were plenty of towels in the bathrooms, but we were able to swap out for new ones mid-week. That's okay with our family because those things aren't important to us. The employees were friendly and accomodating. It is located on a very large beach They have a pool and lounging area which was kept clean.

It is located about a 10 minute drive down the strip from the busy pier area and close to both convenient shopping (7-11) and grocery shopping. This is not a resort, If you are looking for more of an apartment, make your own thrills vacation, then I highly recommend the Gulfview.

My wife and I stayed here for 8 days in December of 2010. We endured record cold temps, but warm and freindly service from Ken & Julie, who accomodated all our needs. The view from the balcony alone makes this a "must stay" in Fort Myers Beach. Kudos!!

A great place for family. The property is well managed and there are enforced rules to keep the property nice for all to use. This is not a hotel, you are renting an apartment. So you have a full kitchen, which I thought was great to save on the restaurant costs AND gas grills. The gas grills are excellent for those that like to grill as we do. We had five of us in a 2 bedroom and had plenty of room. It is right on the beach. Now, Fort Myers Beach is just that, no matter where you stay, you have access to a huge beach. The water is more like a bay than ocean, no undertow or huge waves, very kid friendly. We had family staying at other places on the beach, and all agreed that this was the best value. There are fancier places but you pay for it is my observation. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating. They have beach towels to use in addition to the usually linens in the apartment. They have a DVD library that was useful too. Parking was adequate and access is away from the business of the main Fort Myers Beach area. Oh, and the views were fantastic. No noise to speak of either, so you can rest anytime. All in all just a nice comfortable stay.

Room Tip: check their web site for rates vs. what other web sites quote as rates, there is sometimes a differe...

Overall I do not recommend this hotel. You have to walk more than a football field + to get to the ocean, there are too many rules from the management, the size of the unit is adequate but absolutely no decor. The manager Ken gives you a not so friendly speech when you check in. The only good thing is the view from the apt.

First, let me state that we advertise that we have one of the largest beaches in Florida. Unfortunately you didn't read that information when booking the apartment. Secondly, I understand that people are very excited to get to the beach and enjoy the area. We are NOT a Hotel, we are fully furnished Rental Apartments. Because we supply many free extras, we have to advise you the responsibilities in using them.

We would have gladly refunded you any funds paid if you were so unhappy.

If you stay here bring your own toilet paper. They give you one roll and you have to the office to get more. In addition, the manager/owner watches everyone constantly. He made us and our children very uncomfortable. The management is very rude. Make sure you get everything in writing as they are likely to change the check out policy without notice. I must admit the beach is very nice. The hotel itself is outdated and the manager needs an attitude adjustment.

Located right on the beach but away from the street noise. This was not just a room, but an entire apartment complete with living, dining and bedroom and full kitchen. Had a view of the beach from our private screened in patio. Free convenient parking. Free wifi. Even free beach towels! This place was immaculate (and I am a fussy housekeeper). Only negative was the early checkout time of 10 AM that ruled out a quick swim and beach stroll on our last day. There was a mix-up on our room number and rate, but it was very quickly and courteously resolved. We will never stay anywhere else when visiting this beach.

Room Tip: Worth the few extra $$ to stay on upper floors for the view. Side facing rooms are larger than direc...
