The volunteers are very passionate about the place. It is not big, but has great information. Has some hands on things for kids and it is a donation to go in. You can spend as much or as little time as you want in there. Something to check out if you are in the area or if it is raining.

Went there on a rainy day. It's hard to find, located directly under the bridge on the San Carlos side, it was very informative. Run pretty much by volunteers, with only a suggested donation to go through it. We learned so much about marine life of the area. Some of the weird things we saw washed up on the beach were explained to us. We learned a lot. There was only one other family there at the time and all the kids and adults were able to touch stingrays, blue crab.turtles,etc. and view a number of aquariums with many species of sea creatures. Sea shells, some jewelry, and books, to purchase. Quite a place to visit esp. for kids. It is small in size and you can easily see everything in under an hour but we are really glad we went and will go again.

When we arrived and saw the building I thought about turning around, but the kids really wanted to see it. We enjoyed a pleasant surprise once inside. The tour guide was friendly and very informative. You could feel her passion about her work and local wildlife. She engaged the kids, had creatures for them to hold and was very patient. This is not a large or fancy center, but well worth a visit!

Wondered onto this little gem on one of the two days that we rented a car.

This little building is located on the Fort Myers Beach side of the bridge, by the Dixie shrimp company,

With a live touch tank and this little woman so full of knowledge, I hated to leave but a large group came in that she needed to attend to. She taught us so much about the local marine life.

Ostego Bay Marine Science Center is a gem at the entrance of Estero Island just before the bridge to Fort Myers Beach. The volunteers and staff are very knowledgeable and the exhibits are great especially for children as they are interactive. I would recommend a visit to Ostego Bay which goes a long way in helping you understand what you are seeing in the surrounding environs.
