“Nice Hotel, Nice Beach, Rundown Town”
Reviewed 3 October 2007

The hotel is very nice! If you are going to stay at Fort Myers Beach, stay here at Diamond Head or at the Edison Beach House (it looked real nice from the outside).

The staff at Diamond Head was very nice and helpful. The room we stayed at was Premium Gulf view on the 4th floor. That means that you get a room with updated appliances, and granite counters.

The room we stayed in was clean, and had a view of the beach and the pool. The bed was okay, the shower was small - but with good water pressure, bathroom was nice, and the front room and porch also nice. Furniture and TV was little dated.

The pool and the beach were nice. We walked from the hotel to the pier on the beach, bring your flip-flops.

Food at the hotel was okay, but on the expensive side compare to the quality. Go to the grocery store, and buy your food there. Important note for coffee drinkers: the coffee was not good; I went down the road to the Dunkin Donuts in the morning for my coffee needs. It's about 5-10 minute trip from the hotel, but worth it.

The town is little rundown, but here are some noteworthy places nearby the hotel: the McDonalds is okay (it also little rundown), Hooters was good place to watch the game, the Lani Kai was just experience walking by it, and the Tiki Bar was fun (I would go there again).

Would I stay at this hotel again? Yes.

Will I come to this town again? No.

  • Liked — Good mixed drinks at the bar by the pool and easy access to the beach.
  • Disliked — The coffee, the bed and the town.

The Diamondhead hotel is a gem in the middle of the filthy, run down area of Fort Myers Beach. We choose the Diamondhead because we have a 2 yr old and needed a suite on the beach that was affordable. We wanted to stay in Naples, but everything that met that criteria was too expensive. The hotel is nice, the room was clean and had a terrific view of the ocean with a lanai. The pool was nice and the beach in front of the hotel was clean and there were toys for our son to play with. We had breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel every morning and the service was VERY slow. We did ask for a crib in the room, which was there upon our arrival, but it was very small and our son was almost to big for it. That is where my good review ends. We walked down to the Fort Myers pier one afternoon -- not worth the walk, the restaurants were dirty looking, there are cigarette butts and litter everywhere and the other hotels along the beach looked very run down. We went into Naples at night to eat at nice restaurants and the traffic was terrible and you couldnt get in to eat during the hours of 5-7 when the older locals go out to dinner. It was difficult with a child.

My husband and I decided to take a mini-vacation to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and decided to go to Ft. Meyers Beach. We had never been there but made a decision to stay at Diamondhead based on TripAdvisor reviews. The hotel is an all suite hotel with plenty of space. There was a small kitchenette and a balcony that overlooked the pool and the Gulf. I would stay here again! It was right on the beach and everything was at our fingertips. Great place to stay!

We did have a small snafu at Chloes for dinner - my husband's steak was not cooked as he had requested but we were told they had a new chef and removed it from our bill in addition to reducing our bill by 50%.

This hotel had all the amenties of home and then some. The pool, hot tubs, beach and restaurants on-site made everything very accessible.

  • Liked — The suite hotel, balcony overlooking the pool and Gulf and the kitchenettes
  • Disliked — We had to call housekeeping at 2:30 in the afternoon to bring us fresh towels and empty our trash (left our room at 8 a.m. and they had not refreshed it).

We enjoyed our stay at Diamondhead. From check-in to check out, we never had a problem. Rooms were as described on their website. Service was great, everyboy was very friendly.

  • Liked — beachfront, easy walk to activities
  • Disliked — surrounding tatoo parlors and beer joints

spent 3 days at this hotel. accomodation was excellent ,rooms were spotless maid service was also excellent.views were stunning from our balcony and the sunsets delightful..
the kids could could have done with a games room as there was not much for them to do in the evening also i thought there restaurant prices were a bit steep $11.95 for breakfast. we had a great trip and would highly rate this hotel to anyone visiting fort myers.

Just got back from 9 days at the Diamondhead Beach Resort. Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and courteous and very accommodating. The beach area is nice and just steps from the rooms.
The beach bar and grill (cabanas): food not very tasty, bland and service was pretty poor.
Chloes: Dinner was excellent and service was great, however, breakfast there was quite different. I don't know what kind of breakfast sausage they use, but I have never tasted anything so bad in my life. I took breakfast to go up to the room for my husband and he asked why the sausage tasted so terrible, so I know it wasn't just me. there was quite a difference in quality and service between breakfast and dinner at Chloes.
We used Holiday Watersports located at Diamonhead and they were fantastic. Kelly who runs the booth and the boys who work there were wonderful every day.
We had a beachfront suite (#409) and the view was terrific. However, I don't think there is a single suite at Diamonhead where you can't view the Gulf. Sooooo, don't know if it was worth it, price wise, to upgrade to an ocean view. No matter where you are, you have a good view.
Housekeeping was wonderful, efficient and timely. Upon arriving in our suite, we soon received a call from the front desk asking if everything was suitable and asking if there was anything we needed.
Diamondhead is a reasonable walk to Times Square, which we soon found out was a much better walk down the beach rather than walking Estero Blvd.
All in all I would definately recommend this hotel to travelers. Just be aware and don't expect a 4 star resort. Great hotel for the price, location and size of suites. We really didn't have a single complaint the entire time we were there.

What a dingy hotel. The bathtub was clogged. The poolside tile was dirty and dingy. I don't want to stay in a hotel where my house is cleaner than the hotel.
