Two years ago we visited DiamondHead on Fort Myers Beach and we loved it. This was our second visit and if anything we liked it even more. We really appreciated that the hotel granted our request to have a 12th floor room. We loved the view. The 'rooms' are really spacious mini-apartments with living area, kitchenette, screened porch and bedroom. The hotel is small in a sense (124 suites) and has a family feel, yet it also has many of the amenities of a larger resort - beachfront, nice pool, great poolside service, live music, newly expanded Cabana beach bar (good food), room service, spa, restaurant, etc. We really felt relaxed here. The location can't be beat, a 10-15 minute walk by road or by beach into town with all its shops and restaurants. You never have to use your car. We will return to DiamondHead and highly recommend it to others.

My wife and myself stayed at Diamondhead 2-8 to 2-14-2014.
This is our 4th visit to the Hotel. We enjoy the closeness to all the "Action".
Just a couple of my thoughts:
Very Nice Hotel, Clean, no spring breakers. very peaceful.
Get's kinda spendy, but I guess what you pay for, my per night (+ tax) ran 389 to 420/night!
I ordred a pizza one night for $12.99 from room service, they add $2.00 delivery chg and 20% tip on the bill. too bad, cause I would have given the person delivering the pizza $5.00 tip. She lost out.. I DO NOT APPRECIATE ADDING THE 20% TIP ON THE BILL!!!.
Another thing is the silly "bed tax" the city puts on the tab. Local paper says they take in $4,300,00.00 yr. on that tax alone!! AT LEAST THEY COULD IMPROVE THE SIDEWALKS ON THE DIAMONDHEAD SIDE OF THE STREET, We ahd to go out into the traffic lane in order to go around a mud puddle after a rain.
I will go back, but I think I'll have to cut down on the amount of days, because of the charges, i.e. $50.00 lawn chair chg to sit on the beach. adding tips to the bill (delivery charge for room service)? BTW-Daniel is a nice person :)

Room Tip: Be sure to take enough $ with you :)

Dear Fun2Flyfast725ds,
Thank you very much for staying with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm happy to hear you had another great experience with us, your happiness really is our number one priority. Thank you for giving me your concerns, all guest feedback is very important. The City of Fort Myers Beach is planning on doing a major sidewalk improvement in the next year or two, hopefully that situation will be better for you on your next visit. I believe the price for the beach chairs is $20 for the entire day, that service is run by a third party company and unfortunately we don't have control over their pricing. Thank you again and we are already looking forward to seeing you again.

Sincerely,
Neil Hopgood - General Manager

The food was terrific - we had sandwiches and drinks outside watching the beautiful sunset. Vicki was our server - she was excellent so if you go - see if she is around. What an excellent day. If you have a meal at this location, i suggest stayig to watch the sunset as well.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in February 2014, in a gulf view room, complete with kitchenette, living room and a huge outdoor deck. The view from our 7th floor room was amazing as we had a corner room so could see the entire beach as well as the causeway and town. The kitchenette was well equipped and the room appeared to have been recently updated, as everything was spotless. Although close to $400 a night once taxes and the resort fee are added, we would recommend this room if you do tend to eat in, rather then go to a lot of restaurants, as it is beautiful to sit on the deck and enjoy a meal or a drink.

The pool and hot tub area were very nice. We were, however, a bit confused about the resort fee, as it only included parking, internet and in room tea and coffee, and was charged everyday, regardless if these items were used or not. For the hefty room price, we were a bit surprised the fee didn't include breakfast, watersports, or beach chairs. Normally, at least the tea and coffee, and often internet, are complementary these days.

We tried their pizza, which was excellent, as was the dinner we had at the beach bar. However, we ordered room service one night and it took over an hour to get to our room and we had to call them three times to check on our order. I did report this to the main desk, but no offer was made to adjust the bill, although they said they would report the poor service to the restaurant manager.

It must also be noted that, due to the location of this hotel on Fort Myers Beach, the traffic on and off this island is very bad for hours, in each direction, every day. We made a few day trips south and north of the beach and were stuck in traffic every time we returned to the hotel, often for more then an hour. This, obviously, is not a fault of the hotel, however, was one of the reasons we would not return to this area of Florida in the future.

Room Tip: Gulf view rooms are the best

Dear Petcottages,
Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay as well as your large Gulf View balcony. The views are some of the best on the island. Yes, traffic can be busy this time of year on Fort Myers Beach. This is our busy season, I'm sorry to hear that it would prevent you from returning in the future. I would like to invite you back during our off season for a much more quiet experience, and a lot less traffic. Thank you again and we do hope to see you back in the future.

Sincerely,
Neil Hopgood - General Manager

We recently enjoyed a 5 day stay, getting a break from the winter cold of home. The property is great...perfect location for walking to restaurants and activities, but not too close to any rowdiness. We enjoyed the beach chairs and umbrellas (at a price) and the pool and hot tubs. The two restaurants on site are great, one very casual and one more upscale..both had good food. The suites are nice, especially love the private balconies that are big enough for lounging and dining. Next time we go we will request 5th floor or higher so we don't get the pool noise (not bad, just kids and adults having a good time.)

The suites have a nice kitchen area with a dishwasher! And loved getting the daily cleaning that often does not come with condo type spaces. The only negative was that the beach had lots of ocean trashiness on it...not really sure why? We have been to Fort Myers Beach several times and have never had that...

Room Tip: If you are wanting peace and quiet, go for the 5th floor and up. We loved the ocean side room, however, I don't think there are any 'bad' rooms.

Dear Marcydeee,
Thank you very much for staying with us at DiamondHead Beach Resort. I'm excited to hear you had a great time and enjoyed our location as well as our 1 bedroom suite. Yes, we think our location is perfect as it puts you within walking distance to the Times Square area but far enough away for quiet relaxation. I'm also happy to hear you enjoyed your dining experiences at our Chloes and Cabana's Beach Bar. Cabana's just completed some improvement projects and we are happy to hear our guests are enjoying the changes. The beach debris you saw was just sea grass, every once in awhile heavy surf will bring it ashore. It's nothing to worry about and we do clean our beach daily as well. Thank you again and we do hope to see you back soon.

Sincerely,
Neil Hopgood - General Manager
