“10yr Anniversary ......”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2009

We stayed here for our 10yr Anniversary and thought that the resort itself was GREAT !!! The staff was great from the time we checked in until the time we left. The suite that we stayed in was very nice and had everything that we could ever need to make our stay a great one. From the room itself to the Gulf view. The one bad experience that we had, although it lasted all weekend, was the fact that they were dredging the bay behind the resort and pumping sand and seagrass into the ocean about 200 feet off of the shore right in front of the resort. Seagrass started washing in on Saturday morning and layed on the beach the whole time we were there and by the time we left (we were there 4 days) the seagrass was around 20" deep, 4-5 feet across and as far as one could see in both directions. I'm not kidding one bit !!!!
We ended up spending the rest of our beach time at Sanibel Island. We had a "bad timing" issue with the weather and the dredging, but I would highly recommend this place and would stay here again in the future. Overall, we had a great time and a memorable 10yr Anniversary !! Thanks to all the folks at Diamondhead for the great time !!!!! Dave & Angie

I rarely can write a review without a complaint. However, Diamondhead earned A++ rating from myself and my husband. This was a great place to spend our honeymoon. At check in, we were greeted by staff who were most eager to help. Check in was a breeze. Our room was very nice. Clean, very comfortable and just like home away from home. I must say, I have never had a more comfortable night of sleep.
My only complaint would have been the coffee maker. I called the front desk at 5am and said the water reservoir looked yucky. Jeremy (at the front desk) said he would have maintenance replace it later in the day when they were in. He made a fresh pot of decaf in the lobby and invited me down to grab a cup. I think that was an excellent solution, despite having to get dressed to go get the coffee.
Housekeeping was consistent and just like clock-work..same time every day. They loaded and unloaded dishwasher, made the bed, fresh towels...she made it all pretty and it smelled freshly cleaned every day when we returned. I felt like we were living the comforts of home, only with a maid!!
We will most definitely stay at this hotel if we return to Ft. Myers.

We stayed at this hotel with our two teenage boys, and are kind of travel novices. None of us had ever stayed in Florida other than with family. The plan was my husband and I would stay in the bedroom and, knowing our sons would not share a bed if it were the last bed on earth, one son would sleep on the couch and the other on the floor with the borrowed sleeping bag. Surprise. The floor was all tile, so the bed had to be shared and brotherly fights ensued. But we lived through it.

We had a fabulous end, beachfront room that curved to the west, so we also got the sunsets. Other than that, the price of the room was spendy for us and I'm not sure it was worth the premium price. The bedroom had a comfy bed but the pillows were terrible and the carpet was dirty. The bathroom was entirely made of plastic except the sink which had big, ugly, dirty looking cracks in it. The sliding door between the bath and bedroom was sticky and annoying. The kitchen was nicely stocked complete with fridge, coffee maker, coffee, microwave, etc. The wireless internet worked on the balcony with just a couple of interruptions in service. The screened balcony was awesome and, when in our room, was where we spent most of our time. It was great being able to sleep listening to the sea.

The beach was right out the door, was beautiful and well groomed. Many activities are available for rent, but be prepared for a big price tag, including lawn chairs and umbrellas. The pool was small and crowded but our kids split their time pretty much equally between there and the gulf. The sun and the views were fabulous on the beach. Make sure you take a morning or evening walk.

The hotel is situated on a busy, trendy street filled with shops and restaurants. Skip eating at either restaurants located in Diamondhead. Service is slow and snippy, food is overpriced and not worth the price. It's great that there's a bar connected to the pool/beach!

The hotel service was fine; we were greeted with enthusiasm and when additional blankets were needed they arrived at our room in moments. When our room was cleaned you could really tell someone was there. Make sure you utilize the separate recycling bag. We didn't see it and got left a "friendly" reminder to use it.

We had a great stay and a great vacation. We weren't disappointed with this room by any means, I'm just not sure it was worth the price. However, we slept well and were very comfortable. I would definately recommend Diamondhead, but I would advise they check around first.

Stayed at DiamondHead for 3 nights. Family with 3 kids. (yes, you can sneak an extra kid into your room.) Ours are young, didn't want to book a separate room, so just checked in with two. Loved the rooms. Great balcony- we were up on the 11th floor- do request a high room. View is amazing. Pool and Gulf View. Take the hotel tour- you can get $100 dollars to spend- or to take off your hotel bill.

The small family run Cuban restaurant across the street (upstairs from the TATOO) is a GREAT place to eat. Made fresh for you. Nice music. Eat indoors or outdoors. Watch the sunset. Great fresh Grouper. Also kid friendly food. We ate there every night. You can call them and they will also deliver directly to your room in the hotel. They are the BEST!

The hotel location was great, the rooms were clean and the views from the balcony were fantastic. The pool and bar area were also nice. My only complaint was the food from the hotel restaurants. The service was fine but the quality of the food itself seemed to be lacking.

We looked at this facility last year while staying elsewhere on Fort Myers Beach and liked the unit they showed us. So we decided to give it a try this year. All units are one bedroom suites with King beds, living rooms, kitchen areas and spacious balconies. Other things, however, prevent me from giving a higher rating. First, this is a full service hotel with bar, restaurant, and banquet facilities. When there are functions going on, the available parking is inadequate. Twice we had to try to find alternative parking which is near impossible on the beach. The Diamond Head is also a time share building and we were stopped numerous times (and called in our room) by employees urging us to attend their Open House - which is a quick tour and then an hour long sales pitch. We discovered that the time share units are furnished and finished better than the rentals.
Our unit was already showing signs of wear and the marginal finishing is evident. Both sliding glass doors to the balcony were difficult to operate and near impossible to close.
The door from the living room to the bedroom would not close as it was mounted out of alignment.
There is no oven or range top - only a microwave. The refridgerator is one of the small under the counter, dormitory type units. There is not sufficient room to stand a quart jar of milk, beer bottle or wine bottle. I was able to remove a shelve to make it more useful.
The kitchen furnishings are light - exactly 4 of everything. Four glasses, four cups, four plates, four spoons, etc. If you eat breakfast or lunch in the room you will be washing dishes constantly.
Daily maid service is provided although it is light. We were there 5 days and did not receive a change of linens. Some nights were very cold (down to 40 degrees) but there was no heat.
Our room was beachfront but located directly over the cocktail lounge and the pool / beach bar. From 10:00AM to 8:00PM everyday we were subjected to loud, obnoxious music. Some days we could not enjoy our balcony and had to go inside and close the doors in order to reduce the noise level.
We ate at the restaurant once - nothing special but not bad either.
If you like to sleep past 7:00AM, avoid the beachfront units. You will be awakened early by the noise from the beach concession operators starting up their jet skis and other machinery. The premium paid for the beachfront units is not worth it.
