One of the reason we choose this hotel was their pic and cool grotto bar to find out their doing maintence on the balconys facing the ocean and their cool grotto bar which was closed all week and the day it was suppost to open nothing! weve ask the personal they know nothing! just keep in mind pictures are not at all everything they appear to be! Never again will I come back

Thank you for telling us about your experience. We regret that the Grotto was not open during your stay. Sometimes weather does not cooperate with the opening dates and times for our outlets such as the Grotto Bar and Beach Bar. We hope that you were able to enjoy the other things that make our resort special and will give us another try.

Getting to hotel from airport wasn't bad. Rooms are typical. Courtyard was kept nice, staff was friendly. Heated pool was comfortable for a northerner in 70 degree weather. Too cold for the pool with the grotto. The spa was roomy and enjoyable. Gift shop in the courtyard had items like beach towels, t-shirts, coverups, drinks, snacks, flipflops, bracelets, and heading home trinkets. Cafe food was good, breakfast buffet had pancakes, sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and such. Beach was lovely white sand, they had a volleyball tourney but we still had room for umbrellas and chairs, didn't feel crowded at all. We swam in the Gulf others thought it was too cold, (Southerners). Waves were fun! There was a kids spladh park some brave kids were running in it but it was pretty cold. Boardwalk is walking distance. Drive to the Air Force Armament Museum it's free and has indoor and outdoor planes. Be ready to walk though. Over all really enjoyed!

I booked this hotel because it was right on the beach and close to the locations i was visiting.
However the room looked dated and smelled like it was closed up for six months. The lamp fixtures were also rusted.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel. I visit this are a 2-3 times each will never book this hotel again.

This hotel is a fun place to go. They have a great pool with grotto bar and beach bar with nice bartenders!! We just came down for a few days and had a wonderful time. I do think they need to update the rooms, but they are clean and great views of the gulf. Will be back again this summer.

(Family trip for two to Ft. Walton Beach) Our stay was for 7days 6 nights so I believe this is a very fair assessment that I am about to share. We were disappointed by this Ramada. The ocean front room was very small, contained a table & 2 chairs, desk, fridge/microwave tower, only 1 dresser (3 drawer), tiny closet space, one area for suitcases, 1 floor lamp, a shared bedside table, and 2 Full size beds. The beds were super comfortable but took some major effort to move around. The decor of the room and the bedspreads reminded me of a bad Holiday Inn stay during state band contest back in high school. Not all of the amenities were open. I had even called there the week before to check and make sure of the hours of each feature of this hotel. Their "Grotto" pool was unheated (icy). I felt so sorry for the folks who paid extra just to have their hotel room's back door at the immediate poolside entry (less than 5ft away). There is a smaller heated pool; however, it was over run by noisy children. The hot tub was something that I had been really looking forward to; however, the hotel allowed children to go in there as long as they were with an adult. Needless to say, this put a damper on peacefulness factor I had looked forward to experiencing. The "BBQ Hut" was only open 4 hours each day. Take my advice: Do not get the pulled pork BBQ sandwich! The meat appears practically pureed and sodden with the yuckiest BBQ sauce known to man. I noticed that the BBQ ribs had been taken off the menu entirely on the second day of our stay. If you are counting on their promised Room Service, don't. The only Room Service this hotel offers is an in-house Pizza Delivery. Our first night there, we were tired from the drive so decided to treat ourselves to the Pizza. When it arrived, it was lukewarm and the crust was tasteless. Do yourself a big favor. Bring some fresh fruit, cold cuts, bread, etc. At least you will have something to eat that is available and won't make you sick. Unfortunately the room fridge's freezer compartment only has room for ice trays, so bringing Lean Cuisine is out of the question. There was very poor customer service, i.e. no one told us where the luggage carts were located, housekeeping did not appear to have a set schedule on when we could expect them to show up at our room.) Good beach chair advice: beach chairs and umbrellas are rented by the day for $30 for 2 chairs & umbrella; however, if you wait until after 1p.m., the cost is only $20 for 2 chairs & umbrella. By the way, the chair people would not help me when I asked to rent a chair so I cannot tell you if the chairs are comfortable. The bright spots of the hotel is the Alvin's Island Hut which is located in the heart of the hotel complex. Without Alvin's Island, you will pay double for drinks and snacks from the vending machines. The Lobby Bar has lots of seating area. They have a happy hour; unfortunately, it is just for beer and wine. If you order a cocktail, expect to pay full price. The service in the Lobby Bar is good; however, it is under staffed so that mean's you have to wait for refills. For the drinkers, I suggest you save a stack of cash on your trip by heading to Tom Thumb or up the road to Cash's to stock up your essentials and mix your own. It's way cheaper. We did enjoy being so close the The Crab Trap. We could have walked up the beach if we didn't have these bad knees so we drove there. The parking is plentiful, and well lit. Other restaurant recommendations include Destin's Harbor Walk complex. It has a parking deck and water-side restaurants with a perfect view of the turquoise waters. Dolphins were spotted playing in the deck side waters at The Crazy Lobster. For breakfast, I highly suggest going to the Donut Hole in Destin. I have a gluten allergy but the sourdough french toast did not aggravate anything. That was the best french toast I had ever eaten. I suggest you get there prior to 8a.m. for a good parking place. The Destin Diner closed down so we were sad about that. For Putt Putt golf, I suggest taking a trip the Panama City Beach and visiting the historic and hilarious Goofy Golf Putt Putt. They have giant concrete dinosaurs, very fun! No swimming at the beach due to Sea Lice and Jelly Fish. Suggest wearing sandals and walking very carefully to not get stung while collecting sea shells.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ocean side are best for watching dolphins. We stayed on the 5th floor and heard very l...

I made the reservation a month ahead for the week of Spring Break for a needed vacation. The desk clerk was very nice and helpful. The room was nice, and clean. We had a poolside room and the view of the Grotto Pool from the balcony was breathtaking. We needed an extra bed and one was provided right away. All the staff was polite and cordial. There was so much to do there, not boring. The only problem was parking and this happened only one night. I would stay here again.

We recently stayed at this hotel for spring break upon arrival we noted the lobby to be beautiful very spacious and had a friendly and helpful staff, we checked in and as we walked to the room we noticed the pool and garden area to be breath taking, we get to our room and the disappointment hit, the bathrooms were so nasty you had to shower with flip flops on just so your feet didnt touch the bottom of the tub, the beds were as hard as a rock, very very uncomfortable. The balcony door didnt lock good thing we were on the 4th floor so it wasnt that big of a deal, and the view of the beach was beautiful. We left to go do somethings on Saturday morning before leaving we put the do not disturb sign on the door which also lets them know we do not request room service (you know the nice way to say) ”stay out of my room” Only to come back to find our room was gone through and cleaned. (bathroom still nasty) two other rooms in our group had this same thing happen to them one of which had jewlery missing and had to file a police report and all. The grounds are beautiful but keep on your toes while staying here lock up your valuables and anything else you dont want stolen also bring cleaning supplies because you will defiantly need them.....
