“So much fun We are headed back for a 2nd trip!”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Taking our 16 month old for her first trip to the springs. We camped last time but decided to stay at the High Springs Counrty Inn this time around. Looking forward to spending tomorrow enjoying the springs again. We brought our own tubes this trip but they are rented easily.

“A must.”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Remember to check the park website for any notice of closure. We checked it and got notice regarding the flood and restrictions regarding tubing and kayaking/canoeing.

http://www.floridastateparks.org/ichetuckneesprings/default.cfm

Our experience probably than most as we came on the Friday of the Memorial Day weekend. That and due the major flooding in the month before, tubing for the most part was restricted, and the result was hardly anyone was on the river thus it was very quiet and peaceful. The Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend is when season starts. When we come by Saturday about 11 a.m., the line of cars with tubes on top leading into north entrance was so long.

There are so many tubing vendors along the way, all the way to Ft. White which is 30 minutes away. Where you rent is depend on what day and what time you're heading into the park.

The park's stretch of the river is split into 4 points; North, Midpoint, Damier's Landing, Exit/End.
We rented the kayak from the place nearby the north entrance. $34 for a tandem/2-person kayak. They drop you off and pick you up. Totally worth it. Nice folks but it wasn't that crazy that day so I don't how how they're like when it is crazy.

We stayed at the Ichetucknee Hideaway Cottage which is about 5-7 miles away. More expensive than camping but worth it. We like that we can cook all our meals there. Look them up and you'll see.

“Pristine waters”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Dear travelers and explorers,

I was truly in awe when I jumped in the clear waters of the Ichetucknee Springs. We rented tubes and floated along the river for about two hours. Even though there were many people because it was during Memorial Weekend, it was very clean and smooth. There were no mosquitoes (we went in May) and no alligators! We brought masks and snorkels but the truth is the waters are so clean that you can see the bottom without them. We also visited a blue hole in the area and it was marvelous...really a sacred place in this world. I would recommend though to visit the area anytime but during the Holidays if you prefer solitude in Nature. We stayed in Ichetucknee Springs Campground, owned by a family, and they were very nice. There were bathrooms and showers. The owner, Summer, was very friendly. Our highlight was: a gorgeous manatee swimming very close to us in the river. Florida really surprised me with this beautiful place.
Until next adventure,
Pelican Finn

“Loved it but will try next time mid-week”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

The last time I was here tubing was almost 25 years ago when I was in college at UF. I had great memories and have wanted to go back. We finally made the trip back there over Memorial Day weekend, and it hasn't changed much, except that the tubes are much different than they used to be (they used to be actual truck inner tubes - black, heavy and sturdy) and now they're large but lighter. They come in a variety of different sizes and shapes for personal taste, and I doubted whether they would make it down the river without popping, but they did no problem! Visitors need to know that they MUST rent the tubes before they get to the park from independent vendors lined up on the streets leading up to the entrance. What's great is the guys really know how to get the tubes on the car - I couldn't believe how much we could carry! We had a good time, but going on a holiday weekend was a mistake - the river was crazy crowded and loud, so you lose that touch with nature. Next time I go, I'll pick mid-week so we can have a quieter, more peaceful drift down the river.

“Greatest Spring for Tubing and Kayaking”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We love these springs. During the summer, they have tram service that will take you back to the parking area after tubing down this beautiful, clear flowing river. The flora and fauna are beautiful and breathtaking. At both ends of the river, there are picnic areas and bathrooms. It is definitely a must-do experience when visiting this part of North Florida.
