Within days of our arrival, we both said that we would definitely consider a return visit to this special part of Florida.
Our lovely hosts, Pam and Lance, the owners of this ten acres on the Santa Fe River made us feel so welcome and at home.By taking them at their word, " Our backyard is your backyard " we enjoyed sitting on their dock to enjoy misty sunrises, glowing sunsets, otters, lazy turtles, egrets and bird song.At a campfire one evening we were joined briefly by two small armadillos and sometimes in the morning deer roamed through the trees, crossing the lane nearby. Our
" home ' was a large stationary 5th wheel with a shelter that covers it and a large deck.It was perfect for the two of us - clean, well equipped and comfortable. From here it is a very short walk to the river and a short drive to the town of High Springs where we shopped etc.By renting kayaks we experienced some wonderful times on the river - turtles, birds, few people, sun, peace, wonderful springs pumping millions of gallons of 72 degree water which provide swimming places that would be so welcome in the summer.Other days we visited nearby State Parks and Preserves, hiking or biking depending on our whim.A forty five minute drive got us to Gainesville where we enjoyed two wonderful concerts at the University of Florida.
From our initial introduction until the time of our departure Pam and Lance provided excellent advice that helped us explore one of Florida's best kept secrets.
My wife and I wanted to visit the river and springs now for a while. We have three kids, five, four, and almost two. This private retreat was the perfect camping experience we wanted and so much more. We roasted marshmellows by the fire in the evening. Road our bikes through the woods to the river and swam right off the dock. Fished in the morning's, kayaked to the springs all day. Everything was right there. The RV had everything we needed for a comfortable retreat. The ac worked for cooling off and the heater worked to keep us toasty when it got cold at night. Beds were very comfortable, place was clean, hot showers outdoors with the tall trees was pretty awesome. The hosts were super nice and helpful. We can't wait to go back.

This cozy retreat was great for relaxing with a large covered patio. The owners were super nice and we barely seen them, yet they were right there if you needed them. The outdoor showers are a must. Surrounded by wildlife and woods and taking a shower outside was amazing and great way to end the end after scuba diving. The place was not ON the river as I thought it would be from listing but was right down the road. Washer and dryer was available and with three weeks away from home and also getting a little wet on a few of out dives this came in handy. There is no Wifi and we like to download pictures and video from our dives so we missed having a connection. You can go down by the river were the owners live and connect to wifi or go into town though. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.
