the Diplomat course is definitely a resort course in overall length and difficulty but there are plenty of challenging holes here for golfers of all levels. I play to a 11 and enjoyed the course. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the course well maintained, the greens roll fast and true - what's not to like? The answer is the pricing: here you do pay resort pricing for all - take a look around online for discounts as deals can be had
My husband and I visit this area 3-4 times in a winter season, while we do not stay at the hotel we frequent the Diplomat Golf Course. Today it was quite cold in Florida and while we were getting ready to go out I was joking around with the attendant who's name is EVANS and asked him to get the hot chocolate ready for when we are done... When we were putting on the second green Evans came out with a cup of hot chocolate,,, when I thanked him and went to hand him a tip, he said I did not do it for the tip, i knew you were cold and thought you would like this !!! We can all learn a lesson in customer service from Evans !!! Look forward to seeing him when we return in Februrary !!
We spend the month of March on the ocean in Hallandale Beach and golf at the Diplomat 3x per week. It's pricey, but in most respects you get good value for your dollar. For example, range balls are included in the price. The carts are all equipped with GPS. Get to the course early and practice putting, sand shots and hit as many balls as you like. I think there are two drawbacks. 1) they charge you to valet park. I think it's offensive to pay a fortune to golf and then be charge $7 to valet park your car and 2) the cart food is mediocre and prohibitive. I bought a stale ham sandwich which came on a hamburger bun and a bottle of water for which I was charged $12 and I gave a $2 tip. The water cost a QUARTER at Walmart and the stale sandwich was worth less than the water. Plus, the $12 price included an 18% gratuity which the cart girl failed to mention. After paying $14 for a water and a stale sandwich, I never again bought anything off the cart. A hotel like the Diplomat should offer great food at a fair price on the cart, and parking should be free. But, the golf is great and the golf staff (except the cart girl) is great, too.
