“A nice, clean hotel in a beautiful area!”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

We usually stay in the Sunny Isles area of Florida, but due to inflated prices we decided to try the Hollywood area. After seriously considering the Westin we decided, due to price and amenities to stay at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza. We're so glad we did! On the day of arrival, we arrived early. We were told the room wasn't ready. No worries, as we were hungry and decided to go to lunch. When we came back, Sondra checked us in and was very friendly. We arrived to a lovely view of the intracoastal waterway. Our room was spacious and very clean. We had a mini refrigerator and microwave, which was so nice. The shampoos, lotions, etc., was spa quality! The bed was comfortable and so refreshing after a long drive. A safe was in the room for our wallets, etc. Housekeeping was wonderful and very efficient. Please don't forget to tip these wonderful people who keep our rooms clean! We self parked and loved that the parking was within a short walk to the hotel. Valet is also very nice and just $2. more a day. The pool area was beautiful and large. A nice tiki bar was also located in the pool area with food as well. We brought our bikes and biked everywhere. Just over the bridge is a Walmart for groceries and a wonderful Cuban restaurant, Padrino's. Due to a long drive we decided to check out a day early, as much as we hated it, and again Sondra helped us to do so and was very accommodating. Tana, hotel manager, was very nice and so helpful. She does a wonderful job running a beautiful hotel in a lovely area of Florida. We hope to come back to Florida in Feburary and would absolutely stay at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza again! Thank you Tana and staff!

Room Tip: If traveling on business ask for the quiet floor, which no children are on.

The hotel was not family friendly at all. Incredibly loud, party crowd. After dinner we walked passed a woman who was clearly passed out in the lobby. No one else seemed to notice (or care?)
Asked for late check out and the front desk extended our time by 1 hour. That would have been sufficient except that we had 3 people from housekeeping try to enter during that time period. The first person knocked on the door, the second two simply walked in while we were getting dressed. My advice: Skip the savings on priceline, especially if you are looking for chill, family friendly, or quiet. The nearness to the beach is not worth the trouble.

PS: There is a 20 dollar Parking Fee.

Dear Shivaughn P,

We appreciate you taking the time to share this review with us. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. It's unclear why the hotel might have been so noisy, possibly a large group. This is certainly not common at our hotel and we greatly apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. We hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back to Hollywood. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns at Sales@cphollywoodbeach.com.

We arrived at the Hotel, the Valet Manager was very friendly and helpful, as we entered the hotel the Receptionist by the name of Leydi was not very friendly, has no personality and should not be at the front greeting customers, I came down later and noticed that they have iced water in the lobby for everyone to drink, but no cups, I then approached Leydi again and asked her if someone could get us cups, she answered ok, turned around and cups never came, the wi fi does not work either.

We stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago, and we returned last weekend on our way back to New York after few days in the Caribbean. It was nice to see a couple of known faces from our last stayed. Nacho at the tiki bar and Jorge at the valet. The pool area is wonderful, it is really nice to relax back there and see the boats passing by. The beach is just across the street, and the trolley is very convenient if you want to go to the broadwalk. Valet guys were great, and the service is also very convenient since it was a bit rainy.

The Crowne Plaza is a 10-story building, several decades old, located on Hollywood's inland waterway, between Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach. Rooms are good size, hotel is clean, staff is friendly and accomodating. We asked for a roll-away bed for our room and it arrived within 15 minutes- extra $25 per night. We received a good basic rate, just over $100, for our room which is very reasonable for what I would call a three and a half star hotel. Beds were very comfortable, the hotel was quiet, and there is a very nice, large pool, overlooking the waterway. If you want to be within walking distance of all the action, this is not for you, but if you don't mind taking the water taxi to explore the Fort Lauderdale area , the one dollar trolly to go to Hollywood Beach Boardwalk, or driving 30 minutes to South Beach, this is a fine family choice. The ocean itself is a mere block away and there is a superb Cuban restaurant a 10 or 15 minute walk away.

We arrived later than expected due to a horrible experience with U S Airways ( never again ). Allen at the front desk was very professional and made everything all better with a great room with a view of the beach and intracoastal water way and drawbridge. The hotel is one row back from beach, you just have to cross Ocean Drive and take the beach access next to the Hallendale Fire Department. There is a shower to rinse off at the beach and a public bathroom, which we didn't see until later, in the back of the fire department. The hotel pool is beautiful and we always were able to find a beach chair. The food and drinks at the Tiki bar by the pool are good, service there was friendly. Maid service was confusing, sometimes they came early in the morning, other times they came in the afternoon. So, we would put the do not disturb tag on the door, but they still knocked which was annoying. They had a early bird special in the hotel restaurant that was a good deal, and the food was pretty good. But with so many restaurants in the area we only ate there the first night. The great thing about this location was the public transportation, they have the water taxi that pics up by the pool in the back $10 per ride or $20 for the day. There is a trolley that picks up in front of the hotel which cost $1 one way. (Only runs Wed - Sun) The bus lines are great too, I think we paid $1.50 pp one ride, but there is also an all day pass. The hotel offered Zumba classes and had live entertainment by the pool one evening. The concierge had some good trip offers to the everglades and key west, or he had deals on rental cars which would be cheaper than the prices for the trips if you don't mind driving yourself. The room was huge, there was a mini kitchen with a sink cabinets, microwave, and mini fridge. There is a walmart across the drawbridge, less than a half mile away. We went there and stocked up on breakfast and lunch items to fill the fridge and ate dinners out. The computers in the business center were not working when we went to leave but the front desk staff was kind enough to help me print my boarding passes for my flight home. I have to say that every staff member we encountered on our trip was very professional and super friendly and I felt they went out of their way to make you feel special. I would definitely recommend staying here for a convenient location between busy Fort Lauderdale and Miami. This area was closer to Hallendale Beach, it was a little more relaxed and laid back, which was very nice. The Hollywood "broadwalk" was about a mile and a half north from the hotel. You can walk or take the trolley.

Room Tip: get a room face south, you can see the ocean and intracoastal water way and drawbridge. There is a...

The hotel is located in Hollywood just where the Hallandale Beach begins. The Crowne Plaza is 15 miles north of South Beach Miami and 11-12 miles south of Fort Lauderdale. The location is not the best if you want walking distance to restaurants and bars. It is about 2 miles (3 kilometers) to the restaurants at Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. Walmart is at the other side of the bridge. Next to the hotel it is a 7-eleven with gas.

The room has a small kitchen area with microwave and refrigerator. Our room had two queen beds, comfortable for 2 adults and 2 children. The washbasin was not in the bathroom, placed just outside instead next to the beds. The room missing the possibility for 2 adults and 2 children to have a breakfast or lunch when there was no table inside and at the balcony there only was a small table and two chairs. The room should have two more chairs. There is a safety box in the room. TV.

That was sensitively between the rooms but even more towards the corridor. I have never experienced that much sensitively towards a corridor before in any hotel. I think it is some errors in the design of the doors when there was a big gap. But it was pretty quiet in the evenings and nights so it did not bother so much.

The public beach is just across the street, if you need sun chairs and umbrella the cost is 30-40 USD per day for the guest of the hotels.

The pool area is excellent. A large pool that fits all ages and gets never crowded, not even on the July 4 weekend when the hotel was full booked. There is a large Jacuzzi. Free sun chairs and pool towels. No resort fee charged. Nice location next to the channel.

The hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi but it is very slow.

Breakfast is served at the restaurant, continental costs 14 USD plus taxes and tip and full American breakfast 17.95 USD plus taxes and tip.

Self-parking at 17 USD plus taxes per night, both a parking lot and a garage. The garage was very affordable at heat days. Valet parking at 19 USD plus taxes and tip.

The hotel has a fitness center with all the equipment you need.

We stayed 14 nights and after 8 nights we discovered what we first believed was mosquito bites. But when we had counted 27 mosquito bites at my wife’s body we understood it was something else. I searched for bed bugs under the beds and found some. I contacted the front desk immediately and we were evacuated to another room after an inspection. The manager in charge called us and gave us an excuse immediately and we also got a really good compensation. There was no problem with bed bugs in the new room. We had some friends stayed at the hotel at the same time, they had no bed bugs in the two rooms they used.

I can recommend the hotel if you want affordable hotel in the Miami area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with pool view near the pool at floor 6 or higher. The room with ocean view is not to...
