The price does not justified what you get. I felt I was in a motel than an hotel. Breakfast was ok
on the whole the service was ok and the location was good. For business purposes it was fine but not more than that.

Room Tip: make sure beforehand that you get a non smoking room.

Hello etamari from Los Angeles, California.
Thank you for the opportunity you gave us by choosing the Ramada Hollywood Downtown.
We are a nostalgic, eclectic hotel with a touch of fun. We are located in the heart of Hollywood's Historic Arts, Dining and Entertainment District. There are 40+ restaurants, clubs and boutiques surrounding the hotel for 2 blocks in any direction.
The winter months in the Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale and Miami area is a desirable time of year for guests wanting the beautiful warm weather we experience. Hotel room rates are effected by the demand much like airline seats are. When the demand increases the rates increase and when the demand decreases the rate decrease. The Ramada Hollywood Downtown strives to provide our guests with safe, clean and comfortable accommodations at a fair market value. I am sorry you did not feel that the amount you paid was fair in comparison to the hotels in our immediate area.
We llok forward to be of service to you again perhaps in the summer months when our room rates are less than what they are now.

Had the classic mid-range Floridian hotel experience here. Room was musty and damp until the AC had been blasting for a few hours, saw a cockroach scurrying around in the tub. Not sure because we’re so close to the ocean if it’s rust spots or moisture damage from the humidity – or both- all over the room and everything in or near windows is sun bleached. Room and hotel little worn. Our room had lot of little damage everywhere, cracks, dings, chipped paint, bleach stains etc. You can tell this hotel has had many owners and gone through a number of redesigns. There is a random huge (we’re talking maybe 30x20 here) picture of Jerusalem in the lobby but also an estuary-type pond with running water and flamingos below, the area for the breakfast buffet is like an underwater cave and the rest of the hotel has ocean theme paintings- sailors, mermaids but by the pool there are Greek-esque statues. I’m not criticizing, just observing- makes it a sort of fun kitsch experience if you enjoy that sort of thing you should enjoy most of Florida in general! There is a walk-through hallway in the hotel to get to Hollywood street which is pretty convenient - this way you don’t have to walk around the block to get to the main drag. This is decorated with old-timey Miami photos, very sweet walk- few tables and chairs if you needed to sit for a while but didn’t want to do it out in the humidity.

Well enough on décor and ambience! We got upgraded to a suite so the extra room was very useful, had a mini fridge, table, desk and a pull-out couch and coffee table. Bed was king or Cali king not sure but it was huge and comfortable. Pillows a little worn but at least we were given 6! Think my biggest complaint is not enough electrical outlets but as I’m sure this hotel was built way before everyone had to charge 6 different gadgets there’s not much to be done about that. Staff is very nice, maids do a good job. Lots of places in hotel with tables, chairs and umbrellas if you need to get work done or write out your post cards.

As for getting around, this place is in an excellent spot for stuff to see/eat/do within walking distance. There are several cafes and a Starbucks for breakfast and a TON of places to pick from for lunch and dinner. There is a Publix and huge Walgreens for bottled water and sunscreen. The beach is about a mile away you could walk there is you were so inclined OR you could be smart and jump on the Trolley it’s only $1 (bring exact change). Oddly enough there are quite a few jewelry pawn shops everywhere here (and not seedy scary looking ones) with decent looking stock so if you were in the market for diamonds or jewelry there are quite a few places to browse around. There are also a number of shops catering to the Southbeach/club set here… think nylon shorts and 5 inch heels. So if you forgot your bikini/swimming trunks you’ve got a few choices though those choices may be covered with tie-dye, exploding fireworks or neon meowing cat prints. Again not criticizing.. just the nature of the beast!

All in all if you’re looking for luxury vacation digs this is not your cabana. If you’re open to a colorful-and-welcoming-though-a-little-rough-on-the-eyes, decently priced experience you’ve hit the mark.

Room Tip: Don't pick a room near the stairwell, you'll hear the fire exit door slam shut all day and n...

Hello Cher C from Chicago, Illinois.
Thank you for the opportunity you gave us at the Ramada Hollywood Downtown by choosing us to be your home away from home. We are a nostalgic, eclectic hotel in a tropical setting with the spirit of fun!
I am sorry your room was not all it should have been. We are in the planning stages of renovating the guest rooms in the hotel. This will include changing furniture and carpeting etc. and taking care of the cracks and dings as you called it. We do have a preventive maintenance program that my maintenance team has not been able to fully execute due to the hotel being full for the past 3 months. With the spring and summer months approaching we will be implementing the preventative TLC of our rooms once again. Of course we repair issues as they are reported by my housekeeping team and or by the guest. There is always a team member day or night to be of service to our guests. We also have a national pest elimination company that comes twice a month to prevent pests from surviving at our hotel. We are here for human beings not for animals that nature has created. Being in Florida with the warm tropical climate that attracts all of us. Unfortunately it also attracts other living creatures. Some are desirable and some are not. I am sorry you encountered one that was not.
We hope to see you again next time you are in South Florida so you can enjoy the changes we are doing.
